Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I just got my 2star items at level 7. They all have + squid speed which pairs well with KRAKEN, but I'm hoping I get reduced Paint Usage and/or increase paint refill. For Roller, I think I prefer reduced usage (at least 2 of them) for maximum rollage.

I'm the exact opposite. I can deal with good rollers (except that crazy good japanese dude from last night) but have no idea how to kill a great charger. Some levels I can sneak up on them and kill them, others, they have the range and I just can't do anything. Probably my problem is I'm an Aerospray player and have no range.

i've only been using aerospray myself but i dunno, i have an easier time hunting down snipers, either getting them from behind or even engaging them 1v1

my favourite sniper encounters are on the mall map, when i follow them up on the corridors at the side of the map and they run away to the end of the corridor. love engaging them head-on, like an aggressive gazelle (remember, unpredictable movement is the key), and taking them out.

the good rollers just turn around and at the very least trade kills with you if you approach them from behind. and i have real trouble dealing with the spread.

I wish if there were an Aerospray with Suction Bombs or if you could throw Mines. :lol

If only seekers went through grates amirite.

Oh, yeah. On some maps I can fuck snipers up. But there are other maps that have really obvious chokepoints that I just can't get past good chargers. Urchin Underpass, for instance.

a boost to the mines would really be fair, i think

either decrease time till splattage, increase range or allow for more mines than one to be planted

you mean in the middle zone? hm i find it even easier there, tbh. just use the ditch in the middle or approach from the top

What rank are you?

b- but still so far I've only encountered completely braindead idiots. Like seriously either good or completely unable to comprehend the basics of the mode.
If ever there was a mode that had absolutely nothing to do with skill it's this.

You either get a team of good players and mostly win without even having to get back the zones, or you get complete idiots and lose within the first minute.

I haven't yet had a close game. It was always either complete dominance or complete destruction.

Damn this Japanese player who ambushes from the walls using a roller. He's legit.

The problem is that if you're sitting in walls to ambush other players you're prioritizing getting kills over inking territority, which is never something you should be doing.

Unless, maybe, it's in splat zones, not as sure about the best strategies for that mode.

I just saw the SLICKEST shit ever. My brother is coming down the lanes on Mackerel and a roller and an aerospray user are coming down from in front and beside him. Who the fuck at Nintendo thought giving the rollers a Kraken super was a good idea? The entire strategy when combating rollers is to keep your distance, and then they pull out some giant invincible bullshit that jumps at you out of nowhere. So basically rollers have the power to instakill you if you get near them, or instakill you if you are far away and this time they're invincible.

Fuck rollers.

Ranked splat zones needs voice chat so bad it hurts...how else can I scream at my teammates to shoot at the two enemy spawn beacons behind the splat zone when they are standing literally five feet in front of the beacon and ignoring them as roller after roller jumps in and splats them from behind every time we get a foothold.

First time I ever yelled at a controller. Going to be busted back down to C- shortly with teammates like these. I'm just not good enough to carry a team all by myself for the full three minutes.

I don't like the kraken. Can't be slowed down.

I just got the Kraken roller; I thought you could only ink around... Then I discovered that jump insta-kills. It was a grand discovery.

No individual is, this game has WAY too many variables to handle solo even if sometimes folks go into zen like sprees of right decision after right decision.

I have a similar problem. I usually just move out of the chargers range and move to covering other areas with ink. If they are pursuing me I'll zig zag away and then get them on the backside. I will also try to sneak around the backside if they are at a sniping point. If there's a particularly troublesome snipers I'll inkstrike that point.

Just turn into a squid and swim away. Kraken are no faster than squid forms and if they try to attack you they'll lose momentum.

If you don't have the turf to fall back on then it's mostly on you. If they're close enough to kill you then Rollers already posed a good chance to turn you into squidcakes. Using a special right next to an opponent is something Bubblers do almost just as much.

It's in splat zones. I would not praise the dude if he's on turf war :p

The dude got 3 of us killed instantly with that strategy that cost us a good delay and territorial disadvantage.

If you are playing keep away from roller then just swim away. It is quite simple, you are faster and ime when his special is running out and kill him.

ALways have an escape route behind you.

Well that's the thing I'm discovering. You gotta play Splatoon like it's a team game AND a solo game. If you see something that you feel needs doing, you take one second to see "is anyone else about to do this" and if the answer is no, you go do it. You don't just leave it undone. Sometimes this means you have to abandon your current position or objective, but you gotta weigh the risks, is it more important to move and do this other thing or not.

If there are beacons and you want em gone, go get em.

Yeah no fuck splat zones. Without at least a party system I won't be touching that shit again.
I haven't seen a single game mode that has been crippled so badly by Nintendos idiocy before.

What a waste.

You just need to have your ink behind you and swim away. You can even turn around go the opposite of where the Kraken is going.

Just a question for you guys since I haven't actually played the game, does anyone actually use voicechat while playing (through other means), or are people in this thread generally getting by just fine without it

Yeah, it's kinda cool how you can set your own objectives and how easily you can switch from supporting to going solo. One of my favorite things to do in the game currently is to just throw seekers when I'm in a group hoping that my teammates catch on and travel behind it so I can come in from a second angle nearby.

Kraken is like the worst super. I never get killed by it unless I messed up. Just swim away for a few seconds.

I've Skyped with friends while playing but we never really co-ordinate much, we just go a bit crazy with banter.

Splat Zones feel like it could benefit from VC at surface value but when I really sit and think about it I don't think there are a lot of times I played where I could come up with coherent strategies other than curse words. Any time I tried something out I had to almost instantly fall back on it. It's almost a little bit too chaotic and victory in that mode seems dependent on how well your team can improvise.

I did try, but kept getting splatted on my way there, usually at the end of clearing out the other team from the area so my teammates could get in and take control. Clearing out thse beacons was my only priority that match, since they had two, and was the chief reason we got wrecked. But I couldn't do everything all by myself.

It's very hard to mount a retake in splat zones. No communication benefits the defending side severely.

What they should have done instead is to put 3 zones far apart from each other, and each zone gives you points individually upon capturing it. This would be a far more solo friendly mode that doesn't depend on teamplay.

So I saw in the plaza someone with 2* gear with 3 slots and wanted to know if ordering them from Spyke would give me the 3 slot gear too. Only I checked to see if I already owned said clothes did not and can't find the person anymore :(

Gah when am I going to learn, order first then, check if you have item. I might have to make a list...

You can buy slots from spyke, it costs 30k each.

It works for 1* gear too

EDIT: sorry did not get your question, i think the gear comes with all the slots the other guy had bought already

I'm level 20 and still use Jr. It's the best gun that has the bubbler. So it fits my playing style the most. I'm not really a sit back and snipe people type of player.

I see myself as a Ninja Zapper In Training, so training to become on.

Use the echolocator to see the dudes, then swim to them and BLAM!

I'd rather get my hands dirty than sit on a perch all day.
