Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

1v1 one local mode is unlocked initially right?

Yes, but it's not the same game mode than in online. No Turf War.
Something with balloons and stuff. And the other player can only play with a Pro Controller or Wii Classical Controller.

Roller sucks bruh

Gonna go pick up eshop cards tomorrow to preload so I can play at midnight.
Hype is reaching critical mass.

It sucks if you use it as an offsive weapon. Is amazing for sneaky attacks and attacking the enemy base when your splatter user companions are dealing with the enemy in the center of the stage. You just need to use ways that are not the freaking center of the stage (this varies depending of stage).
So the roller dont suck, basically git good with it or do not use it, same with the charger, that I dont like and thast why I dont use it.

I think I'm interested in this, but I'd honestly like to give it a try before parting with my cash to make sure I'd enjoy it. Do we know if there are any plans for a local non-timed demo after launch? The test events have both been at rubbish times for me.

Also, can two local players play online in larger matches? Or is any local multiplayer limited to Battle Dojo?

So good, I could get my 2 other inkling amiibos just today. They arrived to the carrefour near my home. I also got kigglypuff that I didnt want at first (and the inkling boy, but I couldnt resist getting everything at the end).
YES. I have everything from splatoon now.

Fucking Amiibos. Caved in again. Thought I just get the bundle with the squid amiibo. The day before yesterday I added Inkling Boy to the preorder. And today I bought Inkling Girl in a store. Oh well

Looking at the OP,this game seems pretty light on content.
Not sure why everyone is going so ape over it,apart from the usual Amiibo craze.

Should be a fun buy in a couple of months though,if the community survives.

The game is fun, why wouldn't people be excited.

bah. Took me 3 attempts to even get into a game, only for the opposing team to have an afker, then the next match I got disconnected halfway through.

What problem?

I believe he's talking about endorsing a company to lock disc-based content behind a paywall (aside from the price of the full game of course).

I agree the amiibos are tempting, but this behaviour from any gaming company (so Nintendo included), shouldn't be allowed.

Agreed. Even then, I caved in and bought my first amiibo (the squid girl one) :/ I felt dirty.

Just had a match where 2 of my team had rollers, and yet they completely ignored inking the map in favour of getting stealth kills. The enemy completely steamrolled us because my team weren't inking anything.

What kind of game do they think they are playing? eurgh.

Ah ok. I can see why people are against amiibos. I buy them because like figurines. And seriously the Splatoon Amiibos are really good looking. (And somehow lower on price than smash amiibos).

Honestly, I'm extremely tempted to get the inkling girl amiibo as well.
Never bought an amiibo before, but the Splatoon ones are indeed really well-made.

I'd say they are worth a buy for the figurine in itself.
It's just too bad it also serves the purpose of unlocking day 1 content. The decision would have been a lot easier to make if it was simply a classic figurine, or that the thing it unlocked could be had from other (free) means.

A 5-7h singleplayer campaign and an incredible online mp mode that has already proven itself does not seem "pretty light on content" to me, considering even more new mp maps will be added over the coming weeks.

People are going "ape" over it because most of us played the global Testfire already and loved it. Fantastic game = go ape.

Because....the game is....fun? Tetris could be considered light on content but that doesn't make playing it any less awesome.

Tetris has no content. People would laugh at you today if you told them you paid double digits for that game.

Tomorrow is the day! I can't wait! I had a complete 180 ° turns about the game. I disliked it when it was first announced but now I really want to play it. I've pre-ordered the special edition with the squid amiibo but I hope the other 2 costumes will be available sooner or later...

Is 3 star the highest?
Yes
Looks like Nintendo is releasing the top 10 players (and weapon + equipment used) for every 4 hour rotation.

That's cool. I wonder if they will feature those guys in Inkopolis or something. Also am wondering if it will include players internationally.
No love for the Charger. =(
The charger will have a tough time to appear at the top for Turf War where you just have to cover the most ink.

But how can you create something special without including something special? If you simply can buy the extra content, that the figures would only be figures.

Nah, I was more of a joke. I have nothing against amiibos and I'll probably get the girl myself if I like the looks of the figure.

The point I was trying to make is that while yes, technically on paper, Splatoon does look light on content, the content that it does have is executed so well and is so much fun to play that it's still worth the money.

I was just piling onto your point. Not disagreeing or anything^^

I have the game, is freaking amazing.
Played yesterday from 23:00 to 3:30 and didnt want to stop. Beat only a world on singleplayer and a played up to level 8 on multi.
Cant wait to continue once i finish work today.

The singleplayer already is longer than the order, and they are going to add every week more things totally free. But even right now, "light content" is not a problem IMO, becuase that content is not so light as it seems on paper, and is fun as hell you keep returning.

Also payed 35 euros with the squid amiibo. Cheapest Nitendo game I payed on release (and even more when it was the collectors edition).

We played the demo and it was awesome.
Not our fault if you didn't play it and have some fun like us.

Also Mobas games are light on content but it doesn't stop people to spend tons of real money of them just for skins.
Some players already spend more than 60$ on those light content games.

I'm just dying to play more tonight! I'm all giddy! The 2 rotating maps out of 5 at launch is actually very clever. You really get to know them, every nook and cranies. That's how you create a new classic multiplayer game. Think about CS, TF2 and the first Halo at the beginning, it's only a handful of maps that are popular and played over and over again. There's not a single bad map so far.

Anyone remember how Super Mario Kart scored at the time of its release? Splatoon is as big IMHO.

Go to bestbuy or GameStop if you are in the usa

There's no way for Nintendo to win when it comes to this. If Amiiboos didn't unlock anything within the game people would see them as useless, pointless, without purpose, not worth the money.

I think the 'content' unlocked with the splatoon amiboo are a good compromise between giving you something for having the amiboo, but not giving you anything so special that everyone without amiboo feel robbed.

The problem is that people feel robbed anyway because they expect everything for free and whine when it isn't.

I downloaded the demo, but didn't have the chance of playing it. Hopefully discount will still apply. What is the time of EU release? UK midnight?

Is the framerate in the plazza really 30 fps? It seems a bit lower. I wonder why, it's not particularly complex. It makes me worried about the next Zelda.

To those complaining about "Lack of Content" until August: Would you rather have the base game be $40, and have the additional map and weapons be $20 DLC (instead of free) in August?
