Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Actually, the .52 also gets screwed over by a single Defense Up if you don't have any damage up.

Can it be a sub ability or does it have to be a main ability? Anybody know if there's been any testing to find out the absolute minimum defense boost requirements to survive more shots from different weapons?

you know you're playing too much Splatoon when you're legitimately considering purchasing a second Wii U so you can play multiplayer with your friends and family.

Funny you should say that..

Had this idea when I was playing the Global Test Fire. I uploaded a misheard lyrics video for the Splatoon Theme Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ta2iw5Djwk

Holy shit the get out of my lab dee dee killed me.

BTW, the "lyrics" of the real song were changed from the first trailer release to the final.

The main theme said clearly Splatoon! on the shouting chorus and now they say something like Fish ya!
Strange change.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the enemies we can see at 1:15 of this video are not present is the final game right ? And I don't remember this level either... Future DLC campaign confirmed !!!?
Probably cut content

Nope they dont appear, and in that trailer (cut here) it seems there was also some kind of pixelart 2d sidescroller levels that were taken out (or left for dlc).

Just played it for the first time. I thought I'd get used to the controls, but they're pretty awful. Turn speed is too slow and I keep pointing in the wrong direction with motion controls. What is everyone using for setting?

Straight up... don't even know what it does lol. Tracks nearby enemy motion?

I think it's a pocket echolocator, tracks whomever you hit with it. I suck with it though, so I can't say.

Anyone up for a few matches? Playing against randoms just doesn't cut it anymore, I feel empty :<

Is it possible to reroll or clear an ability so you can level it up again and hopefully get something better?

You can re-roll all slots on a bit of gear at once, not individual ones. Problem is that requires reaching level 20 and then paying 30k per item you want to re-roll, and I'm still only level 15.

Gyro
Camera speed +1

Play the single player to practice the controls.

I use Gyro with default settings but you might want to play around with those. I used to dual stick exclusively in the Testfire but after making the switch, getting used to it and realizing that the gyro is really just an aiming supplement I don't ever want to go back. The only thing better than this is an m/kb setup.

The default controls. They take a minute to get used to, but they're good when you do.

Same effect as Echo Locator to the enemies in the area of the grenade.

Aaah, okay. Thought it was a plant like the beacon. Guess that's pretty cool if enemies are swimming around you, but by the time you hit them with it you already know where they are so... I don't know. I think there's better uses for a sub slot, though I'll probably still try it eventually.

Edit: Actually I can see how it could be useful to call out enemies to your teammates.

Started last night. Did exceptionally well for myself. Was consistently coming out on top with just the starter gear. Didn't really buy anything new until I was Level 6.

I turned off motion controls asap.

I'm using motion off and sensitivity at 0

I ran into the same thing regarding motion sensitivity and decided to tough it out with motion controls. About halfway through the single-player and it became second nature for when I moved into multiplayer.

I can't help but laugh everytime I lose. The Inkling's suffering and punching the ground, as if the opposing team just killed their parents and ate their dogs. XD

Thanks for the advice guys, but after trying the .54 gal, splattershotpro, aerospray RG, and the custom thingy thingy and losing with all 4 of them I went back to the splattershot. I'm so, so sorry I ever doubted you splattershot. (I immediately won the first game with splattershot)

I'm using the default control settings. Works great for me (played through single player, level 17 online, B- ranking).

Default, in my opinion the motion controls are more precise for aiming than joysticks by far. For me the turn speed is fine.

Hmm dunno how I feel about that, feels too harsh. Think I'd rather they let you pick abilities once you've unlocked them so people can then use whatever items they think looks best to them. The randomness doesn't add anything, especially since there's no best ability (which is a good thing) so people aren't going to be picking all the same ones anyway.

Gyro and +2! The only thing I had trouble with at first with the motion controls is turning horizontally. At first I wanted to lean the gamepad left and right, like a paddle, when it seems like what the games wants is for you to turn it like a wheel.

Bunch of gaffers in my room.

Added you, I'll try joining through someone else in the meantime.

Indeed, that's the main gripe I have with it. It's definitely worth using against some pesky players, but you probably won't hit those in the first place.

I inadvertently tried non-motion controls when I was using the Pro Controller in the 2 player Dojo mode. They're horrible once you're used to the fluidity of gyro aiming with the Gamepad. Never Again.

Gyro and +2. Seems to be a popular setup.

You have to give the gyro a chance for a couple hours, once it clicks, it's impossible to go back.

The non-motion controls are actually more fluid, because you use the same thing you use to turn. Less parts for better aiming!

You also don't need to fix them when they constantly break lol
