Splinter Cell 4 trailer!!!

WTF?? I was eating my nails because of your comments and at the end I see nothing but "Prerendered stuff" or at least nothing that carries the "FPS" label :lol

Darkest and ugliest... trailer? promo? ever. Pretty graphics, but i see almost nothing.

tell that to all the ones who busted their nuts over mgs4 footage ;)

lol, I DID! :lol

That one just happens to be more cleaverly done. The 1st person mode was a nice touch.. heh. Until I see someone actually playing the game, it's all just hype building BS to me.

I am willing to bet this uses ingame assets along with cgi (sweat drop, etc...). This is using the Unreal 3 engine after all. We have seen so far that it is the talent of the programmers and the artists that determine how good the game looks this generation, also how much money you put into it. Given the developer of the game and what they have done in the past with the Unreal engine I don't see why that couldn't be game engine graphics.

Seems like a target render to me, and definitely not better than the MGS 4 footage. No way.
The mgs4 footage had alot more things going on but the character models in this is much more detailed than in the mgs4 footage. Just look at the skin of the characters. It's probablby not real-time though.

It's much clearer here:

And it's just a teaser video showing off co-op. That is definitely not Sam, which explains why the lights are not green. Sam Fischer would not get his ass kicked like that.

Incredible if it's real-time but I don't think it is. Whatever though because you know the Splinter Cell next gen games will be some of the best looking we see in the next few years :)

Welll, the character models look better but only slightly. Like I said, it doesn't seem realtime to me.

Looks like it could be something the Ubisoft can make real-time though. Can't wait for it either. Too bad Sony pasted up on this one though.

im not impressed, the lighting doesnt look "right" the textures on his boots look horrible, art style sucks...everything is too shiny!

...oh what? its not my turn to be the thread troll? nm then

looks damn good to me :D .

An R5xx variant ATI chip could reproduce the water effect like that if enough effort was put in btw... now it seems totally irrelevant for the game, but it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if that was even realtime to show off the potential (again not practical, or probably not featured in the game).

I really think that people should STFU about whether it's real time or not, because no one knows. And one side is going to have to eat crow accordingly.

I want to hear from the devs themselves, or other reputable source, about what it was or wasn't.

The way it's put together makes it look like CG. That sweat drop is obviously not realtime. Then again, the textures aren't too good which leads me to believe it could possibly be realtime.

awesome.

can't tell much from that (not a huge SC fan)

But there was too much 'woo, look closely at his skin, look at our lovely textures', and 'ooh, look at this guys visor *really* closely, isn't it shiny?'.

Its like sharkboy Vs lava girl in 3d, constantly waving shit in your face.

Iwata am cry btw... noone even includes Nintendo anymore when trash-talking about each others favorites.
i think that was the plan. they wanted nothing to do with Sony and Microsofts battle. the same way no one brings them up now, will be the same way no one will bring up MS or Sony when talking about all their favorite new genres and game mechanics.

in any case, you xbox fans really need to pull your heads out of your ass. i don't see how you guys can see this as a loss for the PS3, considering that well, every Splinter Cell game has hit Sony systems. not to mention that this time around, chances are they're gonna look better on the Sony system.

anyways, as far as Splinter Cell goes. it would be cool to see a trailer that shows more, just for eye candy purposes. game should like pretty nice if any of the previous games are anything to go by.

edit: just saw the IGN footage. looks great. i could totally see that being realtime for the most part.

awesome.

haven't seen the trailer, but that pic reminds me of RE5.

the bottom line is that MGS4 showed nine minutes of 100% REAL-TIME action and it looked almost comnplete. so even if the character models here look better (not that much better) it still doesnt touch MGS4. did i do good? is that effective trolling?

what more did you want? they cant blow their load all at once.

Yeah, that's for E3!! I was surprised we even got as much as we did, I mean 9 minutes?! I was thinking short 2 minute teaser trailer seeing has how PS3 wasn't even out yet and the previous MGS was shown after Playstation 1/2 was released.

Well MGS 2 and 3 trailers were exciting, this was not. Even the orginal MGS:TTS trailer was better. Sure the MGS 4 trailer looked amazing but it was simply boring, the music sucked too.

Hmmm. I dunno, part of it looks legit, part doesn't. Maybe its the shock factor going on right now. Because ,I remember saying no way when I first saw MGS4,the same could be said of this footage. The console is a beast as well-its just that we've seen alot of rushed footage the last 3 months,so its easy to be skeptikal. The video looks awesome. Probably real time, and for once it shuts up the haters,to a degree anyway.:b

:lol

Very short.. it's fun how xbots compare MGS4 trailer with this little video, it looks more like a tech demo than a trailer of the game

The same could be said of the MSG4 demo.

so according to ign this is for xbox 360 only besides current gen systems

The PS3 release date hasn't even been confirmed. Since this series started on the Xbox it only makes sense to first announce it for the X360.

That wasn't Sam Fisher. I think that's Fisher popping up behind the cop/guard for a split second right before the logo cuts in, though.

Say what you like, but I loved the music in the trailer.

MGS4 doesnt look THAT much better than alot of the stuff out there and a few things have surpassed it. I think most people are in damage controll mode because they wanted it to blow everything away like MGS2 did, and it didnt.

I am THIS close to putting you on ignore. All you've done is damage control from 2k6 vs. MGS4 claiming one gameplay and one real-time, to trying to put a lid on the MGS4 hype in a Splinter Cell 4 trailer thread. Why?

At least this time it looks like the game will have good CG cutscenes.
They were abysmal in SC 1, 2, 3

It's footage from the online part... as in: this kind of cutscenes won't be seen in the SP

IGN is stupid, in the first seconds of the SC4 trailer it says:

A sneak peak at Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell's next-gen ONLINE experience

IGN said:
Fisher believes he is sneaking up to the guard unnoticed, but the opponent quickly grabs Sam and apparently has a phenomenal grip, twisting him to the ground and causing him great pain. It looks like Sam's arm might be broken, and he tries to break loose; it's unclear if does or not.

Then, unnoticed by the guard, another Sam Fisher slips on the trademark green goggles on, and is seen zipping around the guard like a cartoon character, green trails remaining in the darkness. It's one of the stranger videos we've seen, but it looked fantastic. The second character is meant to emphasize the importance of a second, co-op character, and that SC4 might even emphasize its significance even more heavily.
Online = means NO Sam Fisher

Everyone has their opionion, yours is probably nothing like most people's, but we should consider ourselves lucky to actually see that much. I was expecting a very quick trailer and some pictures. We managed to get 9 minutes which straight away tell us that the world is in war, snake looks old, it takes place after big shell and that it will be the best looking game until MGS5 :D

i know, but if this is any indication, at least it looks like they're putting some effort in cutscenes this time

Can anybody read the text that flashes on the futuristic looking dude's visor? Several times throughout the video, some letters roll by, but I can't make it out.

people should look at the ign version of the vid, you get to see alot more and it looks like it could be ingame, excluding the sweat drop. From what I saw, it looks like it could be onpar with mgs4.
