Splinter Cell 4 X360 images

This game is sportin some seriously nice looking textures. But if you look at the rain picture and compare it to some of the other pics, theres an inconsistency between them.

oh really? try to go to Italy and go to bar, and tell them Brazil kick ass and much better than ITaly in soccer.

i will be shocked if you are alive.

fans are fans. they support their favorite thing
And sports fanatics are just as retarded as video game fanboys.

MGS4 has better art

And mullets! Mullets > all.

edit: from the media we have so far snakes model is about 2x at detailed as sam. (2x being a gross oversimplifacation and a rough guess :lol )

lots of those shots look realtime to me. Did anyone honestly think the 360 launch titles where showing the power of the machine?

The abundance of low 30fps games, along with even some high-profile titles going below 720p or lacking aniso, despite the ease of performance, and even later high-profile titles aiming at 30fps sure didn't give much hope. Yes I know it was rushed but so have many consoles in the past.

Whoa.

Still the rain photo looked... off? As in different from the other (prison bars, Sam executing a guy etc.) shots.

Thats exactly what i'm thinking. I personally think its a Cutscene situation, hopefully the visual stay consistent throughout the game and don't jump in cutscenes.

yo this game like math class y'all got the hypotenuse and the angles and the sinwave curve and all that shit fucking fat goddamn just blew my COMPASS.

Man, just saw all the scans and i must say, kudos to the Splinter Cell team, kudos to MS for 360 and a hell yeah to us for playing this game sooner than later!

DCX

something is definatly wrong with the rain pic... the geometry seems wierd - almost M.C. Escher like :lol

They could of just been using a really weird camera focal length, but I smell some cut-and paste. Like I said though alot of the other shots look perfectly plausable to be realtime given the specs of the 360.

I've missed a lot of this thread to be sure, but if you saw all the scans, was anything said about their origins? Are these real-time or concept? My interest is piqued.

In the scans, there are some screen grabs from the last Splinter Cell vid that everyone thought was CG. I wonder if those are in fact realtime? If so, those are the most detailed character models I have ever seen.

well the article says 'the in-game model looks so good that it will also be used in double agent's rare cutscenes'

The developers aren't competing though. They've both stated that they love having the other one around because it gives them competition and ways to improve.

BTW, I know what you mean...I just couldn't resist. :lol

Nope...many were probably hoping though, for various reasons.

Gotta see how the animation looks first...I doubt it's 60fps, but if it is it'd be a pretty good statement of 360's real power. As others have said though, the rain pic defintely has a different look from the rest...wouldn't surprise me if it was render art.

Ha ha awesome, good thing I grabbed it before the edit.

Shit, you could still grab the screen urls if you're quick enough. :lol

Thats good to hear then but it leads me to believe that those rare cutscenes my include the rain picture one. You can clearly see a difference in the environment.

I know, I know. I should know better. :D

I'm glad it confirms that Sarah is in fact dead. I'm bout to go to the thread I started yesterday to laugh at everyone who were calling people who didn't "know" that an idiot.

This game is gonna fucking rule. I'll be so happy if they keep improving on each other. This may be my reason to get a 360... I wasn't going to, but if this game is gonna be as awesome as it looks, and there will be other games on the 360 that I'll feel like buying, and more importantly if I would have to wait for another year to get it on the PS3, then fuck it-- 360 for whytemyke sometime next summer.

Sure. Now, can we let go of that? With more than 20 shots, there should be other things to talk about. How about that arctic suit, eh? Parachutes? Sounds awesome.

Whatever their reasoning is (CG or not) this game still looks astounding.

I loved SC:CT and I find it hard to believe that the next SC will top it in the gameplay area.

BTW - that small Shanghai pic. :O Night time cities fucking RULE (see: Deus Ex' Hong Kong).

what I think is funny is all the people defending the 360 launch titles screaming "your expectations are too high!" "dimminishing returns!!"

personaly this is the kind of jump I expected, nay, demand from next gen machines :)

Of course. I like the explanations of the takedown thing. Where you go up to someone and press a sequence of buttons that come up and if you finish the sequence you take them down (kill, knock out?). The Online experience is going to be hot.

I don't know if I even need it to be topped; refined and expanded will do fine for me. As far as I'm concerned, they got the gameplay pretty much right with SC:CT, now all I need is a good story, interesting settings and some real purpose to the plot.

Err.. that point still stands since this isn't a launch title. As for the other side of the coin, anyone who thought the 360 couldn't do better (anything) than the launch titles is dumber than someone... well.. someone who's really dumb. :lol

Honestly, I think expectations for a bunch of launch games coded with final kits developers only had in their possession for two months were a tad too high. Which isn't to say the level of quality for most of those games is acceptable. But people really should have a better understanding of the way these things work, yet it seems few people have that ability for whatever reason.

Shit, it takes a year for some of the hardware's best tricks to get figured out...we haven't seen anything yet. Same goes for PS3 too.

I think the same thing about MGS... Plus cut down on annoying cutscenes in MGS.

back on topic, this looks good, but is it real time gameplay? Otherwise, it rates up there wih the Sony CG footages. It seems next gen is all about CG, and leaving people to speculate whether it is gameplay. MS has jumped on the Sony bandwagon.

I just read the scanned article on some other board (along with plenty of more pics), this could be the first SC that interests me

I still want to get a shot from CT as Sam is coming out of Seoul and he climbs the pile of rubble and you just see the city burning around him. That shot wa sooo awesome... perfect cap on that entire mission. Sweet, sweet shit.

It's gonna be sweet if this next game is as open-ended as it sounds, where you gotta go into KOTOR levels of decisions to get your shit done to be a good guy and still have the ruse of being a baddie...

true, but MS forced it on themselves. They pretty much squandered the xmas season by not having enough consoles. IMHO they should of delayed the launch to give devs more time to polish the games, and themselves more time to ramp up production. As they say hindsight is 20/20, but you also don't get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression.

anyway, back to splinter cell! when are we gonna see some video :D ?

The real-time shot looks better than the concept render. I'm not going to run out and buy a 360 for this game, but if I did own one it'd probably be high on my list.

If the final kits had been delivered in June or July as intended instead of early to mid-August, the games would've looked better. Maybe not a lot better...but better. Two months isn't enough time to do anything really, unless you're among the top flight of developers in the world.

The November launch was fine, as good a month as any to launch a high tech product. There's no time of year people are more willing to spend half a grand on something they don't need then the Christmas shopping season. But it should've been a US-only launch so they could meet the demand, saving Europe and Japan for the 1st quarter. They probably could've sold 500,000 or 600,000 units on launch day, and had a million units sold by the end of the Thanksgiving shopping weekend. Instead they're gonna leave a lot of potential sales at the cash register. I admire their bravado in trying though, and hindsight's always 20/20.

The rest were removed for fear of banning. You can still see the links in crunker's post quote on page 2 though.

And only one of those (page 1) are "possible" artwork.

Uh, they're all realtime. "Artwork." Get out of here. Read the article at OAS, if you must. That'll confirm your worst fears.

of the 2 pictures on the first page only the top seems ingame, 2nd is clearly artwork but its good stuff allround.

I have very high expectations going by what they were able to do on xbox visually.

and for all the "MGS4 DOOMED" crowd remember that PS3 owners will have the pleasure of playing both these great series.

I don't see what's so unbelievable about those shots, they're not particularly impressive actually. Looks good, not mindblowing though.
