Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory $29 @ EBgames (all systems)

Yeah it's temporary, but the thread is much more entertaining if you omit that information :P

Which is the best version to buy? My local EB has it on sale also all version including PC. Is Xbox version worth getting? any slow downs?

Xbox or PC. Stay far far far far far away from the PS2 or GCN versions.

i think they gave the GC version (and PS2 version as well) some kind of exclusive takedown move.

Which doesn't save those two versions from being the worst of the bunch.

Does anybody actually have the Gamecube version of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory?

Is it a really shitty PS2 port? Does it run in progressive scan?

Yes, it's a PS2 port and the PS2 version is much worse than the PC/Xbox one. It doesn't matter if it runs in progressive scan. Get the PC or Xbox version.

How well DID Chaos Theory sell? It was hyped to all hell, I can't imagine it did too badly.

From the March NPD results:

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory sales breakdown (by system):

Xbox

Regular Edition = 163,766
Limited Edition = 33,268

Total: 197,034

PS2

Regular Edition = 27,893
Limited Edition = 6,640

Total: 34,533

GameCube

Regular Edition = 2,806
Limited Edition = 836

Total: 3,642

Cumalative Total: 235,209

Keep in mind that SC:CT was released on March 30th. By now, sales have surpassed a quarter of a million units (across all versions). And this is only it's first month of release, so that's pretty decent.

And from UbiSoft's financial earnings: (shipped units reported)

The new brand, Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30, which has sold 1.7 million units, has made its mark in the historical shooter game segment, confirming its long-term potential. The new opus for the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell brand also saw a highly successful launch, with 2.5 million units sold.

Over the fiscal year, Ubisoft generated sales of €537 million ($676) amounting to eight percent growth at a constant exchange rate over last year. Ubisoft continued to pursue its brand creation strategy, and now has a portfolio of eight major brands which have sold 17 million units, accounting for 65 percent of all business, including:

5.1 million units for the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell® brand
3 million units for the Prince of Persia® brand
2.8 million units for the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® brand
1.7 million units for the Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30TM brand

So no.....I wouldn't say SC:CT bombed at all. :)
