Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - Disconnects!

I've played on Live once and on System Link another time. Both Co-op, and I have gotten disconnected after playing for a while in both.

The player on the other side sees the same thing. Says they have disconnected.

Is anyone else getting this?

Why me?!?

I saw this on the official forums:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=t...31&m=6101054103

People are complaining that it's happening in both the Xbox and PC version. The game is amazing, but this really tarnishes the entire experience.

Also, I posted the same in the official thread I started, but figuring some people might not even be bothering to post in it, I made a new thread.

Heh, I thought it was the promo-discs I'm playing with! I get very poor results with them on my (not so perfect) dvd reader.

I guess it's more general, I finally did get through the co-op though, just saving at every chance, but yeah it's annoying.

i just played 10 hours co-op on system link and haven't had any problems. I'd imagine the same would hold for online. Possibly it's your internet connection? or something or .. er.

No, there is actually a bug in the game. I believe they are working on it according to a forum post I read on the main website.

But the game's framerate does take a huge hit no matter what as well. Hopefully they can patch it up a bit and smooth out the gameplay. *This is only in XBOX Live Co-Op.

When my roomate, playing with our friend across the dorm hall, gets multiple disconnects in one day over our near-unlimited bandwidth LAN, you know there's something wrong with the game.

I think not.

Like I said, I played System Link as well. That doesn't involve the internet.

Got a link?

If someone doesn't have live, and what you say is true - then they are fucked as far as a patch goes.

I thought it was connection issues. Whenever my friend hosted a game, we got a disconnect. Whenever I hosted it, we've never had a one in many hours of play.

I think it was probably just luck. Either way, if it was connection issues - it wouldn't matter who was the host and who was the client.

I'm not even sure CT is client/server based.

Who the hell knows, it could be peer to peer, but I doubt it.

I posted this in the other thread too, but this seems to have become the official chaos theory bugs thread so:

During my 40 mins first online co op experience:

I got disconnected twice. Both times near the retinal scanners in the tutorial mission.

Two times i drew the gun and wasn't able to put it away, this happened to my mate too.
I had to switch to sk launcher and shoot a few bullets before i was able to put the weapon away...but maybe that was some kind of 'rule' we didn't understand..

While playing the coop tutorial, the part where one spy must hack a computer while hanging to a rope held by the other player...
At first i was holding the rope, but my mate didn't understand how to hack the computer so we tried to switch roles, but when I took place near the hole, highlighted "start action" or whatever in the interaction menu nothing was happening for my friend; no option to complete the action was visible for him. It only worked if he was the one starting the action.

Plus, we experienced some *serious slowdown* during the first "real" mission, when we entered a large room with a fireplace and a carpet, the framerate dropped for no apparent reasons to something like 5 fps.

And OXM gave this game a 9.9?

I find it very hard to believe that these weren't known issues with the online game.

Also, I'm not too happy about the game hitching when the music kicks in in singleplayer.

In all fairness, I am going to report I just played about 1.5 hours straight with no major problems. The game did hitch in the coop mode on the Panama level when we pissed off the guards outside, but thats the only spot I noticed it. Maybe it's caused when the music is loaded for the first time on a map? I don't know.

After we got inside away from the rain, the framerate got up to a decent level as well.

All in all, I'm very impressed with the game, I just think it's a hair below perfect.

Looking forward to SC:4 on Xenon :D

I've still never had one on my connection. We played for many hours tonight. I don't know what the variable is.

I'm wondering if its somehow tied to the framerate and/or the fact that the game seems to hitch significantly when an enemy gets suspicious (i.e. music kicks in)

:(

it's probably because you have a thompson drive. I'm assuming all the people not having problems have samsungs (like me and my friend, we both have samsung xbox drives)

If the thompson hangs for just a second loading the music, then you'd be looking at a desynch of the network because the priority then goes to the dvd drive and reading it. Plus ubisoft probably coded in a DDE error that would just disconnect you instead of completely pulling you back to the dashboard when in the middle a game... imo that is

Tried playing co-op tonight with a friend and neither of us hosting could keep a stable connection. Sucks because co-op seems absolutely great, loved bashing open doors right in my unsuspecting partners face. :lol

Oh well, off to Phantom Dust.
