Looks pretty good.

I tried the Xbox demo last night and was impressed at how it looked. The graphics look much better than the previous SC games. Considering the previous SC games had excellent graphics, it's an impressive achievement.

Is the series still using a tweaked Unreal Tournament engine? Looks great for a PS2 title. I'm interested to see how it'll look on the XBox...and how poorly it'll run on my PC.

Are you sure that's the PS2 version?

It was listed as PS2 at first on Gamespot, but now it has these screens for all consoles. So I guess it isn't, damn Gamespot

There is a demo out? Do I have to preorder the game or does it come with OXM or something?

The newest OXM has demos for SC: CT, UC2, and Worms 3D. I just received it in the mail yesterday, so I imagine it should be hitting magazine stands in a week or two.

UC2 live?

There's a developer commentary video of PS2 version I found on B3D and posted in some other thread. I can't say if this is really PS2 version, but that video did have lighting and specularity effects like these. The screens here are obviously high res, but and AA-ed, so it might be just a PC build running at low spec machine?

What makes me think it could be PS2 is that the characters don't seem to have normal mapping (again, hard to tell..).

Yeah, but it didn't have bump mapping, unlike these.

The environments do.

The Xbox version of this game is about the best I've seen on a console graphically. In the top 5 at least. The PC version should be killer. This and the UC2 demo are very impressive.

definitely a smart move on the part of ubisoft to have them developing this game from the time the first one hit the market.

eah, but it didn't have bump mapping, unlike these.
Have you seen it? It kinda did, actually. They are using something they call "Geo texturing", which gives a very simillar results to normal mapping, as they are using real repeating geometry to model bumps. Of course, the major drawback is that usage of that technique is limited to things like floors and walls, and can't be applied to characters.

These screens are probably from Xbox version, though. Characters actually may be normal mapped here, but it's hard to tell from static screens.

Well, bump maps were created exactly to avoid doing this.
