Are you ready? Are you psyched?

It's about 1 week away. Who's getting it? Who can't wait to kill with the knife, break a leg - or whatever the hell else you will be able to do in the game.

The game has a brand new engine behind it, so it should look considerably better than the original Unreal based game engine that the last two games ran on.

It's been reviewed by OXM, and it got a 9.9!?!?!?!? Better than Halo 2? I hope so. Better than RE4? Well - one can dream right?

I will be playing online coop, so if anyone wants to hook up - let me know.

Make sure you keep spoilers properly defined. To those who don't know how to define spoilers, do the following:

["spoiler"]Sam Fisher was pissed[/"spoiler"]

Without the " marks.

Here's an example:

Sam Fisher pissed down the terrorist's throat after cutting it

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Who's getting the soundtrack? (I must admit, I haven't even listened to anything from it)

Im definately physched out for Splinter Cell 3. 2 multiplayer modes, made this a definate must buy. SC:PT let me down a bit, but the demo from CT really got me back into the swing of things.

Im definately looking for some people who play online to team up with, let me know if you guys are willing to pick me up.

As much as I want Chaos Theory, I will probably buy the soundtrack before I do the actual game. It is fantastic. Go to www.mp3.com and you can stream the entire album for free.

Can't wait for it. This is how I like my Stealth Games.

Im not saying you're wrong, because your opinion is correct for you. What you said reminded me of how I felt when I began to play snake eater. I absolutely loved MGS1, and MGS2 left me confused but I still liked it. When I played Splinter Cell 1&2 I fell in love all over again. When MGS3 came out I was confused, and I couldnt play the game. I put it down for 3 weeks until I forced myself to relearn the MGS control scheme. BTW MGS3 was my game of the year. It was definately one of my favorites and a classic in my book.

I definately prefer the SC control method. It gives me a sense of complete control. I a veiw of everything, and can go almost anywhere. I don't know if MGS could be the same within a similiar control scheme, but I have high hopes for Snake and I'd love to see that game opened up a bit more.

I don't really like splinter cell

Im more of a run and gun guy myself, not a spend four hours trying to get to a damn check point with your pea shooter would be SMG

I feel exactly the same way :)

Ditto.

SC feels so different. In MGS 2, I felt so - disconnected.

Also, the story was about the dumbest thing I have ever seen in a video game. Sorry Hideo! FAR TOO MANY STUPID PLOT TWISTS!

Chaos Theory is indeed "the true sequel" and many people will realise this. Pandora was just a "opportunity" (there is too many these days).

Oh yeah and you should buy the soundtrack Cogent. If you like great videogame music it's pretty much a must. If you don't like the Amon Tobin style of acid jazz / lounge music than stay away.

i definately understand what you mean by disconnected. MGS2 was more a cinematic experience moreso than a gaming experience imo. With MGS3 I definately felt a lot more connected to the world, but I still felt like my hands were tied a bit.

I can definately see Snake playing around in the shadows, but I wouldn't want that to be the entire premise of the game, that would make it a clone. I definately don't want that. I love MGS the game more than SC but I love the SC plays. Id be overjoyed to see Snake in such a free and fluid control scheme.

i'm definitely waiting on impressions on this one...

while i loved pandora tomorrow's multiplayer (gameshark bitches, recognize!), the single player was awefull. i seriously never bothered to play past the first few levels, as it had the same flaws as the first game - horridly linear, trail-and-error gameplay. blech.

hopefully this one is improved, like they say. i may buckle and get it regardless if the MP really is a lot beter as well. we'll see.

I think a "viewer" mode would be a cool edition to those series for future installments. I dont know about you guys but I have done some cool things in this game and would love to be able to view them at a later time and from other angles.

Hitman is honestly the best stealth series this is second.

Loved the demo can't wait! :D

I tried Hitman 2. It wasn't bad. I have a special place in my heart for Splinter Cell.

I loved the original Thief, and SC gives me similar experiences. That probably has to do with its appeal.

Yeah, that would be cool. Good idea. You should email Ubisoft Montreal.

Can a mod please edit the title: "Official Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory thread"???

I prefer the actual gameplay of the SC series to MGS. Mainly because you feel like you are more in control of what you're doing. It's annoying in MGS3 to have to go to a screen to change your camo, weapons, and what not all the time while being restricted to horrible camera angles. Running around and having to go into first person constantly to see where everything is really pissed me off.

However, the story and cinematics are so friggin awesome it really pushes you to play through the sometimes annoying gameplay niggles.

I hope Chaos Theory is a bit more cinematic this time around as I believe they have the gameplay part nailed down, but the story themes have been a bit boring in comparison.

The best game on Live is about to get six new maps and a co-op mode. How great it is! I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced.

I'm replaying SC:PT right now just to get into the mood.

The only evolution I'd like to see is SF being able to crawl ala MGS. Perhaps SC4.

Same here. Although, I didn't get into the online too much. I seemed to run into stat whores who would leave the game if things turned sour. So I eventually quit playing online and after finishing it the second time, turned it in for credit. I am really looking forward to the co-op. That's gonna be sweet I hope.

Wow. Hardcore. I went through the game twice. Was fun both times.

Yeah, that would be cool. The game just keeps getting better IMO.

Does anyone have the Chaos Theory demo for PC? When I play it, I get no sound at all. Can't figure out why. Sometimes it crashes too, and I'm sure it has to do with my sound card. Sound Blaster Audigy...

yea i wish ubi would implement a harsh punishment for ppl who drop out of games when losing. Everytimes stats and ranking get introduced into online play it screws up everything.

Yep. Whatever happened to playing for the fun of it?

Winning isn't everything, but you don't have to win all the time to have fun. Also, you won't get any better if you aren't playing people who are better than you either.

The one thing that concerns me about the co-op is enemy placement. I really hope that they are put in different spots everytime you play. Otherwise, after the first couple of times, it'll be just an exercise of memory. Especially with two people playing.

Mix it up by yelling real loud and pissing off the guys. :lol

Does anyone else get joy from throwing rocks at the enemies in CT? I think Im going to play the demo again tommorow armed with only a rock. lol :lol

I don't know if I should get this or wait for the next Rainbow Six. I'm really tempted but I never played SC:PT so I'd probably get my ass kicked online. :(

Already?... Damn. :/

I may have to put God of War on hold for this.

Really? I don't think that would be too wise but then again, I am not here to make any decisions for you. I'm just saying that if anything should wait, it's Chaos Theory. Hell, the LE will probably be floating around at your local gamestore for months to come. Stupid Halo 2 LE still is.

I cant belive people still compare gaming franchise which comes out every year (SC) to game, which is different in its every chapter and its released in 3 year period (MGS).

Ubi Soft wants to be the next EA making games like Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia on conveyer.

Kojima, Shinkawa and co want to revolutionize gaming and please the true fans.

So, go play Splinter Cell, Sam is pissed now, more dark and he has a knife - OMG TEH REVOLUTION!!!

The man speaks the truth! Listening to the free stream and it's perfect work music (well for me anyways).

I'm definitely getting the LE version on launch day, I loved the demo and it helped me get back into the SC groove. It seems that UbiSoft created an utterly fantastic game with the added bonus of fantastic multiplayer, can't wait!

For any matches or co-op this is my Xbox Live name: TekunoRobby

FYI: Yes I absolutely love MGS3 and the Thief series.

My first post since being banned a week or two ago, thanks guys.

I am getting this game next week for sure on Xbox. I finally beat the demo on the newest OXM early this morning actually, and it was so amazing to me. Sure, it's basically the same as the last two, but the new gameplay elements as well as the graphics make the experience that much more better... but don't even get me started on the online mulitplayer for Xbox Live. When I first played Pandora Tomorrow... it was one of the best online experiences I ever had. You know, it gave you that sense of realism, that you are actually hiding out from other people... you could see them they coudln't see you, etc... it was like NOTHING ever before. Chaos Theory is going to take that to a whole new level and it's probably going to be bigger than Halo 2 online ( at least it should be )

God damn this game is amazing!

Splinter Cell 3 will feature:

Realistic Visuals: Never-before-seen graphics technology offers the best visuals ever to appear on any platform. Advanced physics engine allows rag doll physics, particle effects and perfect interaction with the environment

Ultimate Challenge: Intelligent all-new A.I. with personal attributes, natural behavior where non-playable-characters are aware of their environment and remember past events

I saw nothing like this in the demo, sorry. "It's basically the same game"

And the best graphics on ANY platform?
