Say what you will about Boba Fett, Disney is going to exploit the shit out of him and will make tons of money.

Disney

LUCASFILM

These are Lucasfilm projects. They started pre-sale.

People still trying to subtly push the idea that Disney is steering/exploiting Lucasfilm creatively, even though they've never done this for Pixar, or Marvel.

It's expected people would assume this though. Disney is really only their for the merchandising. LUCASFILM for the most part are in total control.

Both of those characters exist in that film though.

However, this may be a more apt example, seeing as the Dilophosaurus was never part of Jurassic World:

That said, this set was never used as teaser image for Legos involvement and it was always the Tyrannosaurus or Indominus.

If I'm not mistaken, in one of the new EU novels there's a merchant who has retrieved Boba's armor partially destroyed by acid and is trying to sell it. He dead, bro.

Lol that wouldn't be taken to mean a character's actually dead by even the thinnest fantasy storytelling standards. That is Frodo's mithril armor levels of proof. Boba's really a comic book character and as such will never stay dead.

For all I care they can make ten Boba Fett movies so long as I get one more film with Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan Kenobi.

Increasingly in these Star Wars threads, I can feel I am finally among my people.

I guess Boba Fett could work in this film, but please don't try and establish some history between him and Han Solo in future spinoffs. Nothing seems to indicate the two are rivals in the OT.

This should be at the top of all Star Wars threads.

I wouldn't be surprised at a Boba cameo. If they're still going ahead with the Fett film it seems even more likely.

Is Rogue One the movie he wrote?

He did the first draft.

Their only connection would be Jabba in which Han clearly has issues with him stemming before a ANH.

this movie is gonna be marketable as fuck

Darth Vader + Boba Fett + Donnie Yen = ¥

This could be Star Wars' big breakthrough overseas.

Fuck Boba Fett, it bothers me so much that he doesn't do anything but because his armor was cool he gets infinite fans and tons of dumb fanservice. I hope so badly that we never get a Boba Fett movie.

Solo & Fett flick each other a fair amount of shit in the Radio Dramas.

Fett is a cipher in the films. His EU (Legends) shit is mostly that: Shit.

This is, however, a pretty decent launchpad to make the character actually interesting as a character. Kasdan writing him could make him something. McQuarrie writing him could make him something.

He's been pretty decoration for over 30 years now. That doesn't mean he can't be more than that if someone actually takes the time to do something with him. Lucasfilm apparently wants to give that a shot.

Hopefully he actually does something in Rogue One.

Knowing Boba Fett, it'll go one of either two ways...

Either the character will immediately be showcased as an unstoppable, ruthless, nigh-flawless killing machine who constantly pulls off impossible feats such as fighting off fully trained Sith Lord with nothing more than his wits and enviable sense of style, tangling with iconic Star Wars characters before A New Hope in increasingly ludicrous and convoluted ways....

Or the character will turn up for a fifteen second appearance and speak only about two lines of dialogue before tripping over his own feet and falling out through the airlock of a spaceship, where he'll twirl helplessly through the endless vacuum of space throughout the remainder of the story.

Either way, the fans will lap it up. Because Boba Fett wears like, a totally cool costume. And he's like, mysterious and junk.

This, Ewan was an inspired casting choice, he nailed it. His contribution to TFA gives me hope. Some kind of cameo in Rogue One would be great, but highly unlikely.

Am I the only one that wants to see Durge back somehow? Either in a movie or in Rebels?

Durge was pretty cool, shame he never made it into the newer Clone Wars show.

I want 4-LOM and Zuckuss to appear in something, I loved their story in Tales of the Bounty Hunters.

Right, but even Fett's relationship with Jabba seems just professional. I just hate the idea of Han and him having some antagonistic past together to try and make Empire and Jedi seem more like it's some kind of vendetta for Fett.

I can buy this, but I don't buy the rumors of Han Solo appearing in this. It takes place like a week before Episode 4, so how do you cast the "young Han Solo" actor in that role? Unless Han aged a lot in a few days, it doesn't make sense. You'd need a Ford lookalike or a digital younger Ford.

Why are people so obsessed with this jobber? He has been losing since Day 1. His entire existence is define by it.

Or he could just be competently written. IF he does show up in Rogue One. He won't be in it for any substantial length of time. I think it would make sense for him to show up though. The plans get stolen and Vader employs the help of Bounty Hunter's. It would also tie right back into ESB. As I said earlier. Vader clearly knows of him and his methods.

What are you talking about? He got a huge fucking win in his first appearance.

They don't have to. But they clearly know each other before the events of ANH. And as shown in Jedi. Fett clearly hangs out at Jabba's Palace. For what reason? I have no idea.

I think he did a good job in ESB. He got his mark.

Boba escaped the Sarlacc, guys. He blew that sucker up good, too. Now his skin is all messed up and he's meaner than ever.

You joke but I'm willing to bet his death will get retconned in the new movies. It wouldn't even be all that hard to do. Dude is wearing armor inside a beast that takes 1000 years (lol) to digest something fleshy and man sized. It's victims likely starved to death before they died from whatever weakassed acid it's serving up.

Just say he spent his time inside scavenging shit off other poor bastards/droids that have fallen inside to repair his jetpack or MacGyver up a McGuffin that would assist in escaping the thing. There....you have your fan favorite character for use in more movies again.

You know they're going to do it.

Unless they're planning to retcon his death in VI, everything making Boba Fett more of a badass in these movies will accomplish is make his pathetic, hilarious death all the more pathetic and hilarious.

There are ways to do it right, but much like a young Han Solo movie, they've got to tread carefully. So many easy roads to take that just cheapen the characters. Having Kasdan on for the Solo movie is a good first step, but I'm still nervous we're going to get way too many needless tie ins.

If Lucasfilm goes forward with the Fett movie (they might have shitcanned it by now, who knows) I'm willing to bet it's post ROTJ.

Starting the movie with his hand shooting up into frame, grabbing at the sand on the lip of the Sarlacc pit is too good an image to pass up.

Plus you'd probably wanna set it post ROTJ to explain in-universe why Temuera Morrison looks older now.

im sure they will delete his audio lines right

Creating new characters is hard.

I have no interest and seeing Bobba Fett but I guess there's a part of the fan base into that.

What are you talking about? He got a huge fucking win in his first appearance.

By "huge fucking win"...are you referring to a dude who just followed Han Solo to some location for an hour before calling in the authorities to take care of the dirty work?

What an iconic and memorable bad-ass.

I'm not joking.
