Spooky games you recommend for October

While I still have to get through Starfield, Manhunt and Armored Core, I am trying to come up with a list of scary games to wishlist. Can be for any console or PC. Also they don't have to be AAA (in fact I'd really prefer indies). Any truly scary game recommendations for this month?

1. Lost in Vivo
2. Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion'

Both are from the same developer, but I tend to go back to those.

If you have VR try some scary maps in Vrchat.

A must-play for Switch!

Well, Alan Wake, if you've never played it.
The 7th Guest
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Clive Barker's Undying
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Dying Light

I've been playing through Alien: Isolation for the first time and I've been quite enjoying it.

It's a looker in 8k on PC as well, particularly for a 9 year old game:

MediEvil really has some of those spooky vibes going for it.

I really wish we'd get something from Supermassive Games that took every Halloween trope to make a game out of similar to what Trick 'r Treat did as a movie.

  • Dying Light + The Following
  • Darkwood
  • Sanitarium
  • Comdemmed: Criminal Origins
  • Phantasmagoria
  • The Evil Within
  • Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
  • Lone Survivor
  • Detention
  • Observer
  • SOMA
  • Signalis
  • Limbo
  • The Forest
  • Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
  • Outlast
  • Little Nightmares 1 & 2
  • Alan Wake
  • Alien Isolation
  • Manhunt 1 & 2
  • Until Dawn

For a different sort of recommendation with a unique feeling but plenty of spooky dread, play Stories Untold.

Memorable, bizarre but well sized adventure you can easily finish in a few sittings, with several different creative concepts combined. Better to go in knowing nothing.

I very much recommend In Sound Mind if you're looking for a very creative and interesting spook affair. Heavily inspired by Half-Life 2 as well and it shows.

So do yourself a favour and play that!

Anything Castlevania. I miss Order of Ecclesia and Portrait of Ruin so much. Wish they would bring them to Switch.

Wish this game had a sequel. I hate cliffhangers. Especially Cliffhangers for something that may never finish.

The Bunker. I didn't get all the way through because my nerves just couldn't handle it. Reviews are great and the first third that I played was outstanding.

Any of the last like 4 or 5 Resident Evil games, so great. RE2, RE3, RE7, RE Village, RE4. They don't miss. Especially in VR.

Deaths Door
Death Stranding
Control (prep for Alan Wake 2)

I'm trying Voices of the Void. I thought it would be some quick horror game only to find its quite a bit more complex. Atmosphere is 10/10.
