Spore on 360!

from the Ballmer interview on engadget

Certainly the publishers I talked to today think we’re doing a pretty fantastic job of that in what we have coming in Xbox 360. The live environment, the XNA environment, the hardware environment—I heard a lot of enthusiasm about that. Let’s call that standard, normal stuff. The other thing we have to do, frankly, is tell the story. We’ve got to be there telling the story and showing those things which are more interesting. Whether it’s a Spore or Kameo, which is a different kind of a game for the console world.

So is Spore to the 360 like Elektroplancton to the DS? What's next, Amoebas on PS3?

Let's hope so. Actually, Spore is about 10000x more interesting than Elektroplancton even in the preview stage.

DAMN!!! and i had just about written the 360 off! This is another game i really want, along with oblivion.

from what was said at GDC, this game is like the coolest thing EVER.

FUCK. Now the game I want more than anything else is on the console I want the least.

This better come to the PC/Mac. C'mon EA, Maxis, don't fail me now!

Well if I wasn't already sold on teh X360 this would do it. i'm hoping with the Mouse/keyboard support that we'll see more games come to 360 from genre's that normally don't hit consoles. A blizzard classics budget pack with Starcraft/Broodwars and Warcraft/Warcraft2 tides of darkness/warcraft 3 frozen Throne could sell very well to the Live crowd (especially if Mods/map creation is better supported next gen)

And...Ages of Empire/Rome Total War series on HDTV would be so awesome.

Excellent. This is the one that is somewhat like a next-gen combo of SimLife and Civilization, right?

from what i remember reading it's like this...

you start with a micro orginism, and at that point it plays like pac man... then you evolve and it goes through several stages, including a stage where it plays like diablo and a stage where it plays like civilization, eventually ending up with interstellar space travel where you can play as a conquerer or in a diplomatic, peacefull style. but thats not all...

the best thing about it is the way it uses online and the customization... your creatures and architecture (and even vehicles and weapons i think) are so customizable that you can create a whole race of things that look just like carebears or a race of beings that hop around on one foot and have mouths like alligators. then it uploads your planet and creatures to an onine database and when you are exploring space it downloads other peoples planets to fill in the universe.. so basicly the game is endless and truly unpredictable. you will constantly be exploring other peoples worlds and dealing with their cultures.. the players create new content for other players to use just by going through the game. i think the game also keeps track of the kind of tendencies and culture you have and bases your planets AI behavior around that, so that when other people download your world, the race they encounter will act the way you acted when you were playing the game.

it's a really cool idea.

:lol You really think something like SPORE is going to be exclusive to any system? I fully expect it to be released in every next-gen console. It's the next Sim City.

Sounds awesome. I haven't been following it but remembered being impressed by what I saw in a thread about it here some months back.

hmmm... I don't think this is quite a confirmation for 360 per se.... He may just be talking about the PC version (we was talking about 360 and PC as the two Microsoft target platforms after all...)
