See, this is the problem with the romance genre! People watch it to see trope boxes checked off rather than for interesting characterization and themes. Not saying that's what you were doing, of course.
Have I mentioned how amazingly stupid Lelouch's plan to expend the Damocles' supply of nukes is? This is the equivalent of hoping the final boss will waste all his MP before you take an actual turn.
Also, ten bucks says
Nunally's nuclear plunger
does nothing at all. OH SNAP was that some not so subtle commentary on push-button warfare? It also occurs to me that 24 episodes into this show Geass has never once been explained. Considering that chapter of the show more or less ended when
AAHAHAHAHAHAHA ALL HAIL LELOUCH AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
, I'm guessing that it never will be.
And if Ogie dies. So help me if Nina lives and Ogie dies.
Also, maybe you're special enough to not believe that Suzaku was derailed for the sake of making Lelouch look good, but can we all agree that it's just precious the way Sneasel is suddenly the bad guy and Lelouch is suddenly heroic saving the world from a floating nuclear fortress?
Why do I still care? I don't know that I do.
Seriously Rivel. It's raining ash. There is a nuclear war going on over your head. Literally. Shirley is gone. Lelouch is gone. Nina is gone. Suzaku is gone. #ROLO is gone. If you do not bed Milly right now, with the whole world crashing around your head, you will never, ever do it.
Fuck you, Toto. Suzaku never turned his back on his country and least of all to climb in rank. Before ShirleyGate it was still his defined goal of becoming Knight of One for the sake of Japan. Can we PLEASE stop trying to force the idea of Suzaku to perpetual traitor here? You want a perpetual traitor, please look up FF4's Kain Highwind. There's a guy you can count on to stab you in the back.
Okay. I can't believe I'm saying this, BUT: there's something severely wrong with this show when you know, NINA is WILLINGLY SUCKING OFF LELOUCH. FUCK THIS BULLSHIT. SHE SHOULD BE DEAD. HE SHOULD BE DEAD. THEY ALL SHOULD JUST DIE.
No, but seriously: Having Lelouch and Suzaku on the same team fighting big bad Sneasel and his James Bond Villain Plan for the sake of some nebulous Zero Requiem is the greatest of contrivances, and no explanation will truly suffice.
"Isn't that basically terrorism?" I don't know whether or not I should be delighted by Canon's seeming innocence or pleased as punch that he thinks he is actually a character in this show. Since Sneasel is similarly not a villain, I hereby appoint DTARD the role of main villain.
Death is like a legit slap on the wrist in this show. Can't wait to learn that
Shirley and Princess Euphemia are also alive
Because I legitimately cannot trust this show from episode to episode. Its every move is a deceit in an attempt to make me think something else. Or it would be if I wasn't convinced at this point that it is all happening at random. There was probably a jar in the writers room and it had scenes written on it and they pulled like, seven out and made them into an episode.

Why did Dtard want to
die at the hands of Geass
Apparently that's a fetish now! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHEHEHEHEHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
HWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA OF COURSE. OF COURSE. WHY NOT? WHY NOT? WHY THE FUCK NOT?
NUNALLY breaks a Geass. Not Euphemia. Not Suzaku. Not that guy who was resisting it during the slaughter of the Order. NUNALLY.
You know, part of me is happy, because this has been the showdown I've waited for for 49 episodes now, but part of me is just incapable of processing the rip tide of stupid that lead us to this point. Also, no way, NO WAY in 25 minutes can they explain all of this away and STILL have time to kill Nina.
Sawako was shining this episode!..... because she stole it from Ritsu, which kept her from wanting to play the drums since she realized how she's not in focus during recordings.
And so we have Yui, trying to be a teamsport, while at the same time, does her best to throw Ritsu under the bus with her ideas. That was probably the greatest part of this episode. It also went out its way to go "RITSU, you did this for me" which involved making a new song, and being the supports and whatnot.
I can still see how this is longer than it might need to me, but that doesn't really matter right now/

Well, this episode was one way to get me to kind of care about the generic other-dimensional monarchs that Toei shits out as the stock justification for the events of each season.
sucks that the next episode is 100% shamelessly ripped out of Smile, but it was one of the most entertaining episodes in that season so maybe.......fuck it, who am I kidding, this shit's on autopilot at this point.
I want to say its impossible for this to get any crazier, but frankly, I said that at ShirleyGate. ANYTHING is possible. Literally anything. If Lelouch just screamed until he was a Gundam and then fired a Geass laser from his mouth that turned Nunally into Euphemia into himself I would not for an instant say that was not something this show has become capable of doing.

The Garden of Words
My god this looks beautiful! It's stunning in a way that no screencap could prepare me for!
Sadly, my gut reaction after finishing it was that Shinkai's approach to the two's relationship just felt too restrained for me personally. While I understand that they needed to maintain a level of brevity because of its short time span, I can't help but think that a scene or two in the garden could have lingered just a bit longer. The film flows well, but I never truly felt the bond between Yukino and Takao as scenes transitioned fairly quickly from day to day. Which is a shame since this kind of untraditional, budding "romance" filled with many one on one conversations sounds great with the right execution. There were even a few emotional beats that worked quite well, specifically the classroom scene. But everything between those moments felt almost thin to me.
Then it reaches the finale which I thought was handled quite nicely up until that big emotional leap. At the time, it was jarring because it seemed like the film was jumping from a subdued tone to a very showy one. But in hindsight, it's grown on me a bit more as that moment really is an emotional release for the characters.
Ultimately, I feel like I want to watch it again tomorrow now that I've taken in all of the dreamy visuals. I think I might be able to come out with a more positive opinion on the second viewing.
The English VA for Kintaro was so perfect. The moment when he goes "oh sheeet" kills me every time. The guy is seriously talented and the dub ir probably one of the best in the anime industry (the other characters are meh but Kintaro single handily pulls it through)
