I was expecting this to be hard scifi. I was wrong.

That said, the main gun is awesome. Dat boom effect. I also found it interesting that the Captain mentions the gun is only for self defense and also that there hasn't been any mentions of nukes. The anime definitely feels like commentary on WW2 and the events following that.

Yeah that scene when it is used is still memorable.

I tried watching the anime again but it's so inferior compared to the manga, that's a shame :/ The voice acting and the OST were good though.

So the uniform thread in OT made me wonder, just which anime has the best school uniforms?

First to come to mind was the one from Daten City's High School, when it was under the "rurus" of the Demon Sisters... one thing I usually like to see about uniforms is the use of a tie and double-breasted blazers for both genders.
