Nice, new thread!
Tales of Blah Za Kurossu - #0-8
Picked this up on a whim, and while I do like the world and don't particularily hate the characters, I have two issues with the episodes I've seen so far: one, that there're many scenes when some epic music starts up, keeps going for five or so seconds, and then stops abruptly, leading to an awkward silence; and two, that the show tends to ommit lots of stuff whenever it starts juggling focus among two or more separate groups of people. Like, when Mikleo and Sorey split up and the former went looking for a new weapon, Mikleo's quest was a bunch of ten-second scenes that were barely linked together, and didn't give the whole thing any impact whatsoever (but the scene where both said the had "beat" the other other was nice, at least). I do like the setting of a forgotten link between humans and magical entities that the MC wants to restore, but the characters and general plot appear to be kind of boring so far.
Really, Sorey being a goody-two-shoes is kind of boring, since there's that scene where the obviously evil aristocrat invites him for dinner, he accepts, and the princess doesn't even take it upon herself to debrief him on the current state of affairs on their way to the guy's estate... like, you know, her not trusting that man at all. Meanwhile, Sorey's conversation with him amounts to "I fight for my friends" in pure shounen-style idealism while ignoring the aristocrat's not-so-subtle suggestions, which was equally underwhelming for me.
Can finally rest now that Sorey has finally caught the ground-type bro-con little girl and added her to his harem party. Seriously, I really can't stand characters whose dialog often amounts to saying "onii-chan" over and over...
On the other hand, the demoneater girl's arc is 100% grimdark but appears to be slightly more fun by comparison, even though I don't get where the heck the little witch that speaks like an old crone came from. At least her party gets into fights more often than Sorey's.
