Despite these seemingly positive implications for Square Enix, investors haven't been pleased with the news, reflected by the fact that the RPG maker's shares have been lagging behind the competition since the announcement.

Analysts have also expressed concern that Square Enix may be offering too much money for Taito—Square Enix's bid was at a 12.5 percent premium to Taito's closing price on August 22—and that by acquiring Taito (a company with low profit margins) that Square Enix would end up diluting its typically large profit margins, which naturally is one of the company's biggest attractions

But I want a Space Invaders RPG Dammit!

So what is the deal here? Does Square want to put Bust-a-Move minigames into Final Fantasy now? :lol

Out of all the developers, why Taito? All they've really done in the past few years was publish smaller developer's titles and put out 1000 versions of Bust A Move/Puzzle Bobble out annually (its a good series but damn...) Good news is that maybe, just maybe, we can see some more arcade-centric efforts like Tobal 3 or dare I say it, Einhander 2?

Yes, very few can bend the genders like Gackt. He and Boy George need their own show together.
That said, isn't Squenix after Taito's entertainment market? Taito still shows up in arcades (and has it's own little "world" in Japan, I believe) much more than Squenix does, and I'm sure they'd like a piece of that pie.

Probably because Taito make a lot of their money these days from mobile games, and they own all sorts of old titles that are well suited to it and sell well (like Space Invaders and Bubble/Puzzle Bobble). The Enix side of the business (which is all about "polymorphic content", e.g. mobile games) probably see it as a good investment, and it's them who control the purse strings these days.
