SSX 4 Trailer (PSP)

Oh yeah, this is a pickup.

Very well done it seems. The SSX team does good work.

Is this the same team as previous versions?

You forgot multiconsole too.

Dammit, how could i forget something so glaringly obvious. 50 lashes for me!

In all honesty though, i would play alot more SSX on the PSP than PS2. I really can't see myself sitting and playing SSX solo at home. I definitely see myself playing SSX on PSP while travelling on business trips and while spending quality time with the porcelain god.

If this is any indication of the final game I'll pass. This lacks the flashiness of other ssx games and has a (weird) burnout vibe to it :P Any idea how this is going to control? L and R for jump and boost and the 4 face buttons for the tricks?

Looks alright. I'll get the SUPERIOR VERSION on consoles though. SSX should always be on my big TV (unless the PSP version was original of course).

Automatic buy for me. If this is the quailty that EA will put out this holiday season for the PSP then consider me a EA fanboy by the end of the year. :D

What, like every other installment?
Huh?

I believe I'll wait for the SUPERIOR VERSION as well. Not that I have a choice. But it does look smooth and pretty.... I think. Streaming video sucks.

I just read in Game Informer that the console versions don't have online play included. That's strange since SSX3 did for PS2. Don't know why EA ripped it out! OH, and according to them too, the PSP version is exactly the same as the console versions, so now the decision gets a little trickier. The only thing that doesn't work in the PSP favor is having only two shoulder buttons. We'll see how EA works around that.

Exactly, that's why I'll be getting it for a console like always. Unless the game is different enough to warrent a purchase, I'll never be buying console to handheld ports.

Right. But this is one of the first PSP games that doesn't lose anything in the translation into portable form. For that reason alone it may be worth it to get the PSP version as you can take it anywhere.....

Well, I'm pretty positive controls will be a lot better on PS2. Portable is great and all, but better controls + bigger screen is much better.

Looks outstanding. That definitely completes the trio of upcoming PSP purchases for me - Virtua Tennis, Winning Eleven and SSX.

I am just glad to see some good titles finally coming out soon.

RR and Wipeout showed what the system can do in the right hands.

We are now finally seeing a few more.

SSX is a must buy. I just hoped that it had infrasture mode. Playing this game on the go is something that handheld games have NEVER been able to do. Now they can.

I agree. PSP is almost competing with consoles more than portables at the moment.

I need to see how the controls are done. There may be one less trick button like the Xboxen and Cube versions.

L - Trick Button
R - Trick Button
L+R - Trick Button

It could work. I hope they don't cut it down to two trick buttons for PSP. I always use the DPAD anyway for SSX games so the nub isn't a big factor for tricks.

I also would like to see how the loading is on the PSP version. If it is too long I'll skip it for the console version.

?

They may have to dedicate Square and Triangle to trick buttons instead. That may work better. I bought SSX3 on Xbox, but I thought for PS2 the combination for trick buttons is R1, R2, L1, L2. So you have four buttons to press.

I already said what is most likly the best option - L: jump, R: boost, 4 face button: tricks.
You can press any combination of the four butons with your finger so it's not a problem. Another thing is letting you customize the control setup :P

Yeah that could work

Hopefully EA gives us completely customizable controls. Since you sometimes have to hit two or three buttons at one time for some of the fancier tricks I'd rather use L + R and two of the face buttons for tricks. Or maybe they'll limit it to one face button like Xbox and GC. Although I don't see why EA can't give us dual purpose buttons.
