SHREDDING BROS,
Todd Batty also posts at MerquryCity (as kingbitty) and is asking for some input on proposed changes to Global Events (they can tweak alot of the stuff live, server-side) so register there if you'd like to provide some direct input which he can answer back on.
He does read this thread but asked for me to forward this info to you guys if you're not yet on Merq.

Todd Batty said:Hey everyone,
First off, thanks for all the feedback on Global Events - you guys rule. We've taken it all in, evaluated what we think we can do with our current 'live tuning' abilities and here is what we're proposing for our next tuning set:
-we clear out all the current PUBLIC global events (custom events will remain exactly as-is)
-we implement a 'featured range of the day' that will be indicated on the Main Menu in the box right below RiderNet
-this will be the 'high roller' range and will consist of @10-12 events in TOTAL from various drops throughout the range. IE 4 race, 4 trick, 2-4 survive
-all events in this range will be short (ie 30-90 mins), including survive
-all events in this range will have a high drop cost (ie 500K-2M)
-the race events will be a mix of wingsuit allowed and wingsuit restricted
-there will be few, if any, gear level restrictions for race and trick
-there will be many gear restrictions for survive, usually restricting the gear that makes it very easy to go very far
-this range will change DAILY
-we will also have a more beginner-friendly range of the day in a different location
-the events in this range (again, around 10-12 with an equal mix) will have more modest drop costs and some gear level restrictions and will also be short in duration
-this range will be a different location than the high roller range and also change DAILY
-when Mt. Eddie launches it will have a full suite of events running every day for the first while (obviously)
-finally, we will always have a 1 week, free entry set of events that should always hit 50K riders for achievement/badge hunters. These events may or may not be in either of the featured ranges of the day
-all other events (so, most of them) will not run and simply show 'event pending' until it is their 'turn' for a day
-custom events can be set up and run anywhere, anytime
We are hoping this will bring all of our online GE players together in one place for some short, intense H2H events with fat payouts. It will probably look/feel a little odd to have so many empty events but it will also make finding the 'good' ones that much easier.
This is how we ran GE's during dev (ie 50-100 people all on the drop at the same time competing for 30 mins to get the fastest time) and they were far different than what we have running right now, which feels a bit too much like explore and allows for far too many retries to make it feel like actual multiplayer.
All the tech has not yet been verified but we're HOPING to have this ready to go early next week. Please feel free to offer any fine-tuning suggestions or speak up if something in here feels troubling in any way. We wanted to run it past you good folks first.
Thanks!
