The mall at the base of my office building is having a SPD celebration. I went down for a smoothie because I forgot it's SPD and the place is filled to the brim with jailbait.

Oh, I did not mean to imply it was forgivable. It just annoys me to death. How Irish heritage and whatnot is forgotten and never talked about until all of a sudden, March 17th is here and they are so proud. Ugh.
 
the one thing that i dread most about st. patrick's day is the unavoidable amount of flogging molly and dropkick murphy's i'm going to hear. oh boy.

An unfortunate Americanization. In Ireland Patty is considered a girls name, right? In the states some people spell it Patty instead of Paddy. We use them both here.

The fact March Madenss starts today as well will contribute to the drunken peeps in bars all day. I don't mind it at all, except for the people who overdo it. I mean, Americans in general need more days to freaking relax and have a good time. Well, atleast this American does!

But I won't be doing any celebrating. I am going to Cique Du Soleil tonight with my girl. An unfortunate planning mix-up on my part.
 
going to the pub tonight with my bf and my friend. should be fun! this will be the first st patrick's day where i don't have work or school the next day. i just hope it's not hell at the pub. it's a pretty low-key one so hopefully it's not packed.

Going to listen to some Pogues the way home from work with my boys, Eamon and Declan, whom despite being only 1.5 and 3 respectively, know the words/tune to Dirty Old Town .

Well, it's an drinking holiday here so everyone gets pumped for that. It's also the damn NCAA tourney today and that's what more people are celebrating this year.

Fuck, I'm still pissed at Suairyu. I assumed he was an Irish guy telling my about my grand parents but he started a serious fight and hide so I know he isn't Irish which just p[isses me off more.

Ahaha. Chill. I'm simply saying (in a jovial manner) if an Irish person (vs. American) ever heard you call it "St. Patty's", they'd probably beat you up. And they typically hold their drink better than their American-Irish cousins, so they'd win. It's "Paddy's".

My new TV is supposed to be delivered from amazon today.

Should I:

a) get drunk while waiting for TV to arrive
b) get drunk while installing TV (have to run electricity for a new outlet + ethernet for uverse box)
c) get drunk after TV is installed then watch it
d) install TV, then go get drunk in streets
e) get drunk and worry about TV tomorrow?
f) get drunk and smash TV?

g) just get drunk and see what happens!
 
I do find the American obsession with heritage fascinating, though. The theory goes that because America has next to no history of its own (because they wiped out all the history of the original inhabitants, whoops!) lots of people are determined to find their "roots" and work out who they are and where they come from.

Then people like BobTheFork go wild and angry, but then it's cool because they start drinking again.

Just in home for about an hour to get changed and stuff. Then back out on the town to continue the celebrations. Paddy's day in Ireland is so awesome :D
