Why? Because I don't give a shit. Certainly there's a big difference between the two, but not a 1500+ difference. Even for $1000, it's not worth it to me. ... 'Cuz I just don't care. The HD hype train has no effect on me.
catfish said:definately not. My eyes are not trained to appreciate the difference yet, I want to keep it this way for as long as possible. (esp since i'm buying a rev :lol)
Also I'm in Europe and PAL land is always wonky on this stuff. I'm in no rush until they sort their shit out. Actually using my laptop for my television viewing is perfectly acceptable to me at the moment. And I only handheld game presently.

That's how I'm starting to feel. I may test the waters by picking up one of those VGA cables though.Docpan said:Yes I'm a Standard Def. gamer, and no I don't see myself upgrading.

Forgotten Ancient said:Boy, I must be seeing the wrong half of sports. That's precisely what I'm talking about when I say SDTV looks bad on an HDTV. I watched almost every game in last year's NBA Playoffs...but, I believe outside of TNT (or maybe it was TNT/TBS) everything was still broadcast in standard. It looked like complete ass.
BlueTsunami said:Actually SDTV (on competent HDTV sets) actually look pretty good. For example, my HDTV turns any SDTV output to 480p, cleans any interference and digtially enhances the pictures.
It hugely depends on the TV set though.

I doubt I'd pay much more than $500 for a TV and it'd need to be at least 35" widescreen. So...not for a while.
beermonkey@tehbias said:It's funny how 35" standard def TVs were never under $500 but people expect 35" HDTVs to be that cheap.
Same here, though I'll probably get a few other things first. But an HDTV is the first big item that I really want to get. I'm hoping to get one of those nice Samsung sets that the "official" X360 demo model, and hoping to get a 20-25 inch for under $7-800.brandonh83 said:Yeah, I'm going to be looking for a job after Christmas and an HDTV is the first thing I'm going to look into buying.
Well a lot of the time it's the fault of STB. Some of them just have terrible SD tuners, specifically Motorola boxes.BlueTsunami said:Actually SDTV (on competent HDTV sets) actually look pretty good.
