I've almost got enough zen for the fleet modules for the fleet nebula class. This might sound noobish, but our starbase is high enough level foe me to get the fleet modules and get the ship, right?

Yeah, I bought myself a Fleet Nebula a while back. Personally I'd buy Fleet Modules with Energy Credits instead.

Tell you what... if I buy you a Fleet Module with Energy Credits, would you convert the Zen cost to Dilithium and put that in to the Fleet Spire upgrade?

Sure. They're like 9,000,000 credits though.

Why does it say I can't use my account bank at this time? How am I gonna use my sponsor tokens for my other chars?

Also, I just discovered you can make duty officers active officers to give small benefits...

Yeah I'm kind of clueless.

Guys, something's wrong. My new fleet vessel hasn't made me invulnerable! Of course, that might have something to do with the fact that every piece of equipment I have is either a drop or a quest reward. Any suggestions on what equipment/weapons I should buy next now that I'm not holding back dilithium anymore?

Really depends on what kind of build you're going. Romulan and Borg stuff are pretty safe bets if you're unsure and can easily branch around once you figure out your build.

Which build makes my ship like a planet killer from The Doomsday Machine?

Are you going cannons? Arrays? Projectile only? Carrier? Are you a Tac/Engy/Sci? I'm not a build specialist but it can help some people here that might know what you have to work with.

Definitely. The more info we got, the more we can assist. I can give you very general info like: On average, a dilithium warp core with AMP will be the best in slot for most builds due to the energy bonus.

Do you have any specific conditions such as you want to be canon fed and use only phasers? Or do you want to branch out to other types like Romulan Plasma, Disruptors, Antiproton?

Also PvE or PvP?

I'm tactical, but I'm not uber serious about a build. Just wondering if there were any "must have" items.

I would say the most 'must have' item would be damage increasing type consoles in your tactical slots. Depending on the spire level, you'd probably want the critical hit chance ones sold in the spire store. Based on your primary damage you want to use of course.

If you can't afford them due to dilithium or fleet marks. Some blues or higher from the exchange will easily fill in until you can upgrade.

Anyone worth anything gets the Borg Cutting Beam. Thats definitely one of the few must haves. Mainly because it's one of the very few GOOD 360 fire arc weapons.

Yummy!

Thanks for the tips all. Definitely working toward that cutting beam.

Yeah, if you play enough elite STF's you'll probably notice a lot of people run the cutting beam. If there's a small laser, it's the cutting beam. The 360 antiproton beam you get from one of them solanae missions is also good. Reason why a lot of people run those two 360 beams is because they are good weapons that provide a full 360 arc, doesn't matter what type it is, just the fact it's a good weapon with a 360 arc lol.

As a tac, I'm guessing you're running escorts, so a ton of them roll heavy cannons. You're either going Plasma or Antiproton, depending on how you want to deal damage. Going romulan nets you some rather crazy torpedos in the process (Experimental Romulan Plasma Torpedo. If you've seen people fire those massive green torpedo chains, thats the romulan torpedo) while going Antiproton gets you quite a few new options as well. (I think the Undine stuff are antiproton). Main thing to know those is that in a build, you MUST have all your main weapon types the same. Plasma, Phaser, Disrupter, etc. Stick to one type. That way you get consoles to buff that type's damage. It's fine if you're not buffing up the 360 beams, an unbuffed 360 beam is more productive than a rear weapon that isn't firing.

(I roll an engy in a free obelisk carrier and gets 1st-3rd in Elite Crystalline Entity runs so I hope I do have some useful insight on builds lol)

I just bought a fleet nebula, so that's my main right now. Going plasma since I already had some plasma weapons. Thanks for the help. Btw, I have 500 dyson marks from completing that reputation line. Any of that equipment worth getting?

Don't you get ticked when people continue to attack the Entity while it's absorbing?

Not Dyson, but you should definitely look at the Counter Command deflector, it's a great offensive one. Also go for the Borg set console for the 2pc set bonus with the cutting beam, both the console and the bonus are great.

And though I guess you're asking more about specific items, this post is a pretty good run down of some popular builds and how to set them up, if you're looking for that kind of stuff too.

(and if you're really really new, that guy's previous post has some good info as well http://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/c..._logical_a_quick_guide_to_chaining_abilities/)

Wyndstryker and Sax Russel covered most of the basics really.

Since you mentioned plasma, you'll of course want to fill your tactical console slots with plasma boosting damage. Ideally, T3 Spire Fleet Consoles, the ones that increase critical hit chance. May be a bit of a wait for those, I can't remember if we got kits or consoles first. But they are good to aim for.

Also, Fleet Embassy Science consoles not only boost plasma damage, but will add a damage plasma proc to your cutting beam along with either some threat reduction and stat boosting. Can help make your gravity wells and other things hit harder.

As mentioned the Romulan Torpedo is stupid good, and if you run 3 projectile doffs, you'll spam it like no tomorrow.. and if you happen to get a zero point console you'll get... of course another increase in plasma damage. Plasma is really really lucky in this game.

Romulan Plasma is also something you pick up from the Rom Rep stores if you want Romulan and Disruptor procs all put into one. Otherwise regular Plasma works just as well. But if you get lucky you can get some of these for free from the rep boxes to save on the 20k+ dil costs.

Some other good stuff from the systems:

Assimilated Console (Borg Rep)
Nukara Console (If you're running beams.) (Tholian Rep)
Borg Space set
MACO shield can be nice if you don't have a plasmonic leech.

Though even the just the borg engine and deflector with elite fleet shield with adapt, reslient/resb is often seen as superior due to how low the borg shield is despite the nice set bonus.

As far as your Dyson marks as concerned. Space wise, I personally don't think the sets are worth it. The Dyson shield is weaker then the borg shield, which is saying something. It's decent in rare settings where you only get hit once. (Crystaline Entity when no mobs are around and maybe a Planet Killer?) But overall every other shield will do better, plus the set bonuses aren't too hot for having to get 4 pieces, losing out on an AMP core. Extra so if you compare it to the Solane set which in my opinion is better then the Dyson, and free. (With the exception of the warp core.) I just don't feel the Dyson set is worth the 32k dilithium they want per piece when compared to say MACO, Borg, Klingon Honor Guard etc.

However, for ground.. I like the Dyson ground set. The price is just right and will help out any grinding you may do in the battlezone. Plus it's an overall decent set for other stuff. I like the rifle. I only just ditched it recently since my KDF guy who had it is a melee build and I went for more crit chance with the Omega stuff. So, I tossed it to a bridge person for when I do go back to the Battleground.

As far as Crystaline Entity is, doesn't usually bother me since it always does it around the 70%/30% give or take your team's speed in dropping it and so I'm usually gone out of range letting them wail or leave.

Are fleet assignments better than normal ones?

If I get more than one will the effects stack? What do you do about the extra threat generation? Just live with it?

There are ones with threat reduction! They also do stack. However only the skill bonuses, threat reduction/increase, and plasma damage will stack. You unfortunately will not get say two chances for plasma procs.

Doh, of course there are. Teaches me for not paying better attention. Btw, just got the borg cutting beam and wow, what a difference it makes. Thanks for the tips everyone.

WOOHOO!

What exactly are the benefits of having all these things? Starbase, Spire, etc.

Things get unlocked in the facilities, NPC's get more functions, shops sell more, new stuff ot buy, things like that. Basically the fleet is the key to getting some VERY POWERFUL stuff.

Are there any gifts that are given as rewards for unlocking these things? Or is it all stuff that we still have to buy.

Also, did fleet members purchase all those mirror universe ships that are in the fleet bank?

Are there any foundry missions that take place mostly or complately on ships? Any foundry missions with particularly good/challenging space battles?

Feel silly to ask these questions, but the game isn't so great at explaining these things.

1: Well, not really gift rewards, but a number of the fleet facilities provide multiple new functions. A fully maxed out starbase can do almost everything that DS9/ESD can do minus a few specifics. Other things like the transwarp open up new desintations making it even easier to get wherever you need to go.

2: I'm guessing yes. I know I dropped one in there when I gotten one from a lockbox.

3: Don't know, I don't do foundy missions much, but there were a number of good ones, I just havn't done them in awhile so I don't remember.

I might be able to finally get my Tholian Carrier...or Adv. Obelisk...Still debating.

Recluse. Recluse. Recluse.

I guess with my extra lobi I'll go back to hording it in the event I see a lobi ship I want to fly. But considering I've had this for ages.. probably not. I won't mind the Jem'Hadar officer though. Torp Spread 3 yay.

For those who want to get the easiest featured mission for the lobi crystals, it's "Spin the Wheel"

No combat, just running around and a game of dabo which might even bring some luck. 5-10 mins you're done.

I'm thinking of trying this out. How long does each season take to play through (how many episodes per season)?

Do a lot of people still play this? Will I need to drop money into the game?

Depends on you really, seasons are more divided by when they make changes/add content so you're not really playing by season. However because we're at Season 9, that means there has been more or less 9 major content updates/balances/changes to the game so for you since you're starting it's probably a good time to join since all this stuff will be new for you and no need to readjust to the new content. Game population is solid although there's no real need to find groups until later as a lot of the story stuff is level scaled.

You don't even have to drop a single penny on the game, you can get the cash shop currency in-game through trading in refined dilithium, which is obtained normally in the game but can only obtain so much each day. So with time you can purchase anything you want. Of course you can drop cash if you want to speed things up but it's really unnecessary. Max lvl is lvl 50 and there is plenty of end-game content now.

I was hoping that there would be "missions" I could play through similar to Star Trek TV episodes (I think I read somewhere that's how it works?). That seemed pretty reasonable for me to play casually through "complete" episodes in 40 min - 1 hour time spans.

Does it work like that? I've tried to research how the early game stuff works but the vast majority of information out there seems geared towards high level players. The few beginner's guides I found were written 4 years ago.

There are missions/quests that get you through the story and help you progress. They're called Episodes in the game and there's quite a few, each one having a specific story arc (Klingons, Borg, Dominion, etc) to it and several quests to go through to complete the episode. The quests themselves can take some time depending on how much story elements are involved. There are even player made ones if you're willing to experiment (Some are damn good too)

cool thanks! I'll give the game a whirl, see how it feels. It's been a long time since I played around with an MMO ... will have to see how grindy the game is.

Yeah, thats MMO's for you.

Anyways just holler if you need anything and if you want you can always join GAFleet. Doesn't matter if you pick Fed/KDF there's a GAFleet on both sides lol.

Yep, just let us know your character@account name and we can send you an invite. Should open up a lot of cool things!
