That kit system seems neat. But I wonder if they're gonna make us lose our existing kits.

Current plan is for existing kits to remain as-is. That said, there shouldn't be any reason to stay with an existing kit since you can replicate all of them within the new system and to greater effect.

EDIT: Oh, and Earth Space Dock revamp!

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
First Season 9 Dev Blog is up:

A New Accord

In the feature episode from Season 8.5, “A Step Between Stars”, the Undine use the link between the Solanae and Jenolan Dyson Spheres to make their way into the Alpha Quadrant, unleashing this powerful enemy on the squabbling factions of the Federation, Klingon Empire, and fledgling Romulan Republic. What are the Undine up to, and how will the factions deal with this threat? These questions lie at the center of the story being told in Season 9: A New Accord.

The upcoming season will continue the story with a new feature episode, a space battlezone, and several fantastic pieces of queued PvE content that all tie this story arc together. The Dev Team is excited to unveil some of our best work in upcoming blog posts about each of these new offerings.

With the title, are they hinting at an end to the Klingon/Federation War? It would make sense, they've been doing more cooperating than fighting it seems.

There's currently a decent C-Store sale going on for most service type items. It's actually the one I'd been saving my pile of Zen for. There's a 15% discount on, among other things, bank/inventory slots, doff slots, costume slots, etc. If you have some spare Zen saved, it's probably a good time to spend them.

Yep, worth buying a few of those!

Tangent: anyone know a good build for a Fleet Research Science Vessel? I actually really like the Hope class; it was my favourite ship while levelling my first character.

I'm guessing GAFleet isn't around anymore? It's not showing up in the fleet list.

I'm looking for a fleet. Any recommendations?

I really want the Nebula refit class. Nebula was always my favorite class.

I wasn't originally going to do the First Contact event as I already had the items from previous years, but it turns out that you can get a 35 mark package instead of the Phoenix/bat'leth/nanov. In addition, once per day per account, you can also get a prize box from which you can choose either 1440 dilithium or 10 lobi. For an event that takes only about 5-10 minutes, it's an obvious choice.

Is the lobi stuff good?

There are some great ships, but you'd need a lot more than the 40-50 potential lobi this event will give you. There are some decent pieces of ship equipment, though those too require quite a bit. It's good to have it around though for when you eventually collect more.

Well I'm saving dilithium to exchange for zeni for the nebula refit and I'm only about halfway there, but my weapons aren't the best on the block so I dunno if I should keep scrounging dilithium or try saving up lobi, er w/e.

Also, did anyone invite me to the fleet yet?

I tried yesterday but it said you were already invited...

Thing is, you can get dilithium a lot more easily than lobi, as apart from events such as these, lobi only comes from opening lockboxes or sometimes the premium doff packs, both of which cost real money or a lot of EC, so it would probably be best to get the lobi this way, and then you can still get dilithium by the boatload somewhere like the Dyson Sphere Battlezone.

Yeah, you're looking at an average cost of about 3,000 Dilithium per Lobi if you open lockboxes with Zen from the Dil/Zen Exchange. Probably a little bit less than that if you count how much you can recycle your initial investment by selling the contents of your opened lockboxes for EC to buy more Master Keys on the exchange, but the point still stands.

Can't believe I've gone so long without playing STO...again...for the fourth time. I suppose I should load it up one of these days soon.

One of the new recruits in our Fed fleet joined on the KDF fleet and managed to push ahead a few critical projects, so it'd be nice if we could get some more people in there. One of the major things that would be nice to finish is the embassy upgrade so I don't have to keep buying discounted commodities on my Feds and transferring them to my KDFs.

I have a baby klingon character. I'll see if there's anything I can do.

Er, what's the name of the KDF fleet?

For contraband and dilithium farming, there is no better faction than the KDF. They also get the cooler looking ships too. :p

Cool poster for the upcoming Feature Episode I've seen from reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/sto/comments/237pa2/in_honor_of_the_new_mission_surface_tension/)

Dev Blog about the lockbox ships is up.

Seems a lot of people think the Nicor is just a little OP. I suspect they had a bit of a copy/paste error when they were posting the specs of the ships, because at the time I'm posting this, the specs were completely identical apart from the included console.

Apparently my Bajoran Engy is bugged like several others, and thus my traits/reptuation is broken till it's fixed. Basically when clicking the respec button it does nothing and just closes all the windows...

I tried the undyne invasion queue and my ship got stuck in the starbase...

And the undyne portion of the dyson sphere was bugged too.

:(

Have you tried talking to the respec npc and doing it? I remember for awhile I was unable to respec anything unless I had initiated it from him.

Doesn't work. Dug around the forums and other people do have this issue as well so I'm not an isolated case. Somehow it appears to affect a lot of engineers.

Okay so it's a Dilithium Bonus weekend!

Mining claims are worth 10,001 Dil rather than 5,000 usual. Everything else will have a 50% boost to Dilithium earnings.

So time to build up a buffer!
