I was in the beta for this, and... it kind of blows donkey nuts. The action in the game is really herky-jerky, and (at least int he beta) there's no real way to even assemble strategy amongst yourselves so it basicallyyou just free-wheel around shooting everything that moves.
The hero system (if you meet certain criteria set by the server admin, you get to play as a star wars universe character instead of a grunt), is pretty neat. I always felt pretty empowered when all of a sudden it was like "you get to be yoda!" And off I'd go declaring war on droid kneecaps.
Anyhow. Just a heads up. If you're expecting this to be good, or anything like Battlefield at all, besides classes, you're probably going to get disappointed pretty soon.

From the video it looks like all the old maps are returning. (which was only hinted about in interviews). That alone should be worth it. Jedi are a plus I guess
Plus added space combat looking sweet.
Finally they add the ability to be in space, land your ship, and start fighting on foot. That has been a Star Wars geek dream of mine since i first played X-Wing and Dark Forces on PC.

I know some people who were in the Electric Playground preview of the game (as Jedi/Troopers) and they spent most of the day playing it and said it's great.

To the people in the beta's. Have you guys played the first one? If so, how do the battles compare? More gunfire all around?
Biggest problem in the first game was how there could be tons of people near you, yet nobody was firing at each other (so I guess that is more of an AI question if anything).
Also, what maps are confirmed coming back from SW : BF #1?

there's lots of gunfire all around, yeah. And in my mini-review, earlier I forgot to weigh in on the space seciton which I would rate as flawless.

I bought the first one on release day and didn't really like it that much, played it for about a week. Everything felt kind of floaty, most of the vehicles felt poor and out of place. How does the second compare with the first.

Frankly I'd buy this just for Galactic Conquest mode. Online multiplayer is gravy to me.

If the PSP version had online multiplayer, this would be a must buy. As it stands right now, I'll have to see how the final PC version comes out.

This is way better than the first and i am confident on saying that after only playing 3 levels of it online, my favourite level is the space battle by far by simply pressing c u can do like a loop de loop but if u a near a ship you wont even come close to hitting it which i think is a very nice touch.
If you are a graphics whore or dont like star wars give this game a miss if not im sure like me u shall believe it is amazing and i for one cant wait until it comes out.
