Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 1 Coming to DVD
December 06, 2004

[ Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 1 Coming to DVD ]The Emmy Award-winning and critically acclaimed Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series is coming to DVD on March 22, 2005, and here's a first look at the box art of this action-packed release that blends the epic scope of Star Wars with a unique animated style.

Obi-Wan Kenobi fights a messy battle with an alien bounty hunter; Anakin Skywalker engages in an epic lightsaber duel in the decrepit ruins of Yavin 4; Mace Windu single-handedly takes on an entire droid army -- these are some of the unshakable images of micro-series, enjoyed by viewers of the Cartoon Network as well as members of Hyperspace: The Official Star Wars Fan Club.

All 19 three-minute chapters and the five-minute long Chapter 20 of the first round of Star Wars: Clone Wars are gathered together in this release. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky with Art Direction by Paul Rudish, the Clone Wars series are a fresh, stylized take on Star Wars that remains true to the spirit of the saga. They chronicle some of the epic battles that occur between Episodes II and III as the Clone Wars rage across the galaxy.

Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 1 debuts on DVD on March 22, 2005. Cartoon Network will host the premiere of the all-new Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 2 on March 21, one day before the DVD's release. Keep checking starwars.com for the latest developments.

You seem to be the resident Prequel Guru here, Manabyte, so may I just ask if there will be another Episode Three teaser? In perspective, Episode 2 had three teasers, all in the one month, and I believe Episode One had just the one but it was was much more fleshed out, and much longer, than the short selection we had for Ep. 3.... any news? If not, oh well.

Woohoo. I saw a couple of the episodes but missed the vast majority. I'll be picking this one up pronto.

Yes, there's a full trailer coming in April.

I don't know if they will do as many as AOTC, but they've already said the full trailer is April.

Yeah, sure, all the trailers have hit on cue, but I'm talking about teasers. Its a bit underwhelming to leave us with about 30 seconds of footage and wait until April for the trailer. Thanks. But blast, it should be March, the trailer, shouldn't it?

This series was better than either of the prequels. If they had done it in live action and expanded it out of the heavily episodic format, it would have put George Lucas to shame. Why can't he just understand that people want hot Jedi action, and not trade disputes, contrived romances, or detective stories? 2 prequels and 1 1/2 good lightsaber fights....pathetic.

At this point, I'd rather be underwhelmed. After all the teasers and trailers for AotC, I had pretty seen complete fight sequences before I even got to the theater. Just about every shot of the Jango and Obi-Wan fight had been shown, tons of the Coruscant night chase, etc. As much as I'd like to see some of the behind the scenes stuff that the Hyperspace service has, I'd like to go into this film with less visual knowledge than before. Unfortunately, I still know a lot of the plot.

Oh wow this is good news, falls on an awesome date (2 days before my birthday :D). Looks like I've got another gift for my birthday. :lol Any word on special features? I guess they would at least have all the commentary from Genndy that hyperspace features, though I've heard all that. But I hope there's some nice extras.

Oh, shit... *smacks himself in the forehead*

I had heard in passing about a General Greivous being in Episode III, yet the name didn't mean anything at the time. So, I rewatch Chapter 20 of the Clone Wars cartoons and find out that bad ass Jedi/Super-droid is Greivous. It had been so long since I saw it, and the name seemed trivial when I first heard it, I never made the connection. I'm anxious to see what he does in the upcoming shorts, and I hope he's just as lethal in RotS.
