I just rewatched the reveal trailer:
and realized that this is pretty much one of the few interesting things, along with Jedi 3 and Andor season 2, on the Star Wars horizon. I really hope it gets made and is excellent. The Mandalorian season 3 was very, very underwhelming so I don't have much hope for the upcoming movie The Mandalorian & Grogu. It will likely be pretty, but rather basic storywise and at worst it'll feel like a two-hour special episode. Let's not even talk about Outlaws.
The Rey movie made by the Pakistani director is also something that has at most 3/10 on my excitement meter. I like the actor, but the character bores me to tears. And as the director has a background in a very misogynistic society and has had to battle against men her whole life I think it's quite likely that it will be a very feminist movie. Which is good for all the girls, but as a guy I don't feel like I'm the target audience.
There's also a movie being made by James Mangold that takes place 25.000 years before the main storyline, which can be good as then it doesn't need to bother with all the bagage of the main movies. A director with great movies in his portfolio, but the latest one he did was Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which sucked greatly and had an energy sucking main character.
I barely gave the Ahsoka and Obi-Wan shows more than a couple of episodes before I checked out of boredom, so I'm not looking forward to more seasons of them. If it wasn't for Andor season 2 coming out next year I'd say it'd be another sad era for Star Wars fans. Skeleton Crew gives me the feeling that it could just as well have been an animated show, but I might be wrong.
Please, Quantic Dream, you're my only hope!
