Going through the whole thing frame by frame, what struck me is that every shot has film grain. It is absolutely not a pristine, perfect image, but full of texture and life. Looks glorious.

I've been completely indifferent to Star Wars for all of my 35 years (I've seen each film in its entirety exactly one time), but I am fucking hyped for this movie.

So fucking badass. Hooooly shit.

X Wings
Han and Chewie
Boyega
Destroyed Starship
Potential Leia Jedi skills!
Chrometrooper

And then they go and reinvent the best Star Wars villain/hero of all fucking time. Darth Revan. Yes he looks exactly like Revan. So badass. Clearly there are people that have played KOTOR, can't be a coincidence.

JJ and team nailed it.

Legit got emotional when Han and Chewie appeared.

I felt the same way about seeing the Falcon in the first trailer.

It's funny you know... I laugh at things like fans crying at the Zelda reveal in 2004... But there is a series that has the power to effortlessly make nerd tears flow and it's Star Wars. It's not even like I'm that dedicated to the series but it just has this power over me. So long in my life, and so culturally important.

Man I havent been this happy in years

So fucking good, everything

Man, super hyped now :D I found a way to save the iTunes version to my computer. Those who have wget installed, enter this in Terminal (on your computer or whatever command-line equivalent you might have):

Code:
wget -O swtfa-358fz9G-tlr1_h1080p.mov --user-agent="iTunes/11.0.5" http://movietrailers.apple.com/movies/lucasfilm/starwarstheforceawakens/swtfa-358fz9G-tlr1_h1080p.mov

This will save the full video file (not some reference file) in the default directory. Enjoy!

ALTERNATELY...

just open it in QuickTime bro. lol

So I pretty much loved this teaser and am hoping I don't see any other footage until I see the movie in theaters. That's how happy I am with it and sold on the movie I am.

This is my Star Wars. The Prequels just seemed so lifeless and sterile in comparison.

I especially love the Abrams zoom-in when the Falcon was getting chased by the tie-fighter. Awesome.

Yeah, if anything, Abrams makes competent films. I don't doubt this will be reviewed well and that it'll make bank, I just doubt whether or not I'll end up liking it as much as I want to. Like, how much of this movie is really going to be a throwback? Super 8 was half a good movie, half a snoozefest, and it felt like he tried his hardest to copy Spielberg without hitting the right notes at the right time. I felt like his Star Trek films used nostalgia in the worst way by taking large chunks of random stuff from the franchise and trying to have it hide the terrible plot, weak villains, and the complete shift in tone and philosophy from the source material. He's got a track record of letting me down so I'm pretty cautious with his films.

This is precisely how I felt about the Star Trek movies. Everyone I know says they were good but I felt they were just hamfisted nostalgia callback after callback in hopes you forget about the super lame plot you're being fed. Oh wait Leonard Nemoy cameo lol!

I fully expect there to be some super stupid callbacks in this, like them falling into a trash compactor and there being a trash monster (so the audience can go LOL I remember dis!).

Me like shiny stormtrooper.

Barebone trailer but what little I saw I really liked. Love how there wasn't any saber wank going on, felt there was too much of that in the prequels. Too many jedi devalues the impact of them. That chase through the star destroyer... damn. This is my movie of the year.

Let the good times roll on 4/20.

It's nice to not follow this stuff so much cause I had no idea this was coming out so soon. yay

Trailer looked like fun.

I want to get my nitpicks out of the way first: The Stormtroopers, both the regulars and that silver one, look a little hinky. The pure white over the bottom front helmet's rim makes it look like it has the stormtrooper equivalent of a babyface. And the Silver Stormtrooper shot looks weirdly-composited and fake.

Those are minor points, though. Almost everything else looks good to amazing. I'm glad this was just another teaser because I'm considering skipping the full cinematic trailer and going into the film as plot-blind as possible.

Saw nothing that lessened my hype from the original teaser, but nothing that really added to it either. I think all we can say for sure is that it won't be a total fuck up like Episode 1. The fact that there are no child leads ensures that.

Yup. And what I nags at me is the similar nostalgia laced feeling in these trailers. Normally I'd be 100% on board with something like that, especially with Star Wars, but with this being an Abrams film...
