Boyega comments on trailer and reaction. Last bit I am taking as a jab at the racist idiots:

This is probably the best attitude I've seen taken. He seems very passionate about his role, look forward to it.

it looks like he should have taken his whole torso.
That rolling droid doesn't really make sense.
Shat doesn't make sense about it? It's a platform with gyros on a motorized ball. Something like that would pretty much be possible today even
None of it makes sense. It's science fiction.![]()

*tilts glasses*
Actually, Star Wars is space fantasy and NOT science fiction. And I resent your characterization of science fiction not making sense.
Fantasy is the fiction of the impossible.
Science fiction is the fiction of taking what could be possible and extrapolating it to its extreme in many cases.
From an interview with Ralph McQuarrie:
I don't care about the science, I just think it's dumb as fuck and serves no purpose unless its meant to be exhaust ports of sort.
It's crazy because it looks more and more like Abrams is basing a lot of stuff off of the original McQuarrie artwork for the original trilogy. First the X-Wing changes, and now this.
Wait so John Boyega is the lead? That's amazing!
Imagine the reaction to Ewoks if Jedi was released today as the follow up to Empire.
Holy fucking shit it would be Jar Jar levels of hate.
The rolling droid makes TARS look like a cunt, and it hasn't even done anything yet.
The design in this trailer alone is spectacular.

I don't disagree.TARS design was the boldest in a long time. Nolan had elephants balls to have the courage to go with the designs.
Yup.TARS is moronic. Being bold is not something that should be applauded if it's in-conjunction with something stupid.
Regardless, he reminded more of the Hitchhikers robot actually.
That's because TARS is dumb.
That's just the awfulness of the prequels. I hope the maimmings and odd lightsaber grazing wounds are fixed in this new trilogy. It always seemed stupid to me the way Dooku kind of touched Obiwan's shoulder and thigh with his lightsaber.
Tars was just a giant scientific probe and number cruncher that was interfaced through speech. It was there in part for the sanity of the crew.
Or Boba Fett. You'll have a great movie until he dies in the lamest way imaginable.
like Kirk in Star Trek Generations
Boba Fett's just some guy though. The fanbase elevated him to be something that he's not.Or Boba Fett.
Alright, for those who have read the EU book series, The Legacy of the Force: do you feel thatwould've made a sinister villain if Legacy's story were used for Episode VII?Darth Caedus
TARS was awesome. Best part of the flick.
No, it's not any of those things.TARS is the new best robot in films. Believable, logical yet very cute in a functional way.
So just like any robots in sci-fi? TARS was a tool and knew it. Yet this pre-programmed personality output made us feel for the chunk of metal like it was another member of the crew and it didn't need cute beeps and boops to achieve that.
