Starbreeze Preps Second Project

Chronicles of Riddick 2 anyone? :D

Starbreeze Preps Second Project
There's more than just the Darkness on this next-gen plate.
by Jeremy Dunham

January 19, 2006 - Programmers, modelers, and artists are welcome to drop their applications into the hands of waiting Starbreeze Studios decision-makers this very minute. As evidenced by postings on the company's official website and various job sites around the Internet, the Stockholm, Sweden-based development studio is currently bolstering its ranks for an upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game.

"Obviously, it's the recently-sold comic-licensed game The Darkness," you say. But hold on just one minute! According to every posting that we've seen, the new jobs are for an as of yet "Unannounced" title for the pair of next-gen consoles. The Darkness has already been announced, has had its platforms known for sometime, and is deep into development. That means that this employment request is for something completely different.

What could that project be? Obviously we don't know yet (though there have been rumors of a suppossed Strabreeze title known as "Kano" floating around, so this might be it). As soon as we know for sure we'll keep you informed.

damnit, i just want new info and media on darkness :(

e3 i suppose.

I thought their next project was going to be Riddick-free.

I was under the assumption that this was like Rare with James Bond...after the success of Goldeneye, they wanted to continue with Jame Bond, but MGM wanted too much money. I just assumed the same happened here.

I doubt that's the reason, considering Vin Diesel himself wanted CoR to be made.

In any case, their two upcoming releases could cement Starbreeze as one of the top-tier developers.

How did CoR sell, out of curiosity?

It has to be a slow news day at IGN.

Two stories based on open positions at companies.

Hell! I'll save them some time

Monolith looks to PS3
Cranky Pants looks to Unreal Engine
Snowblind prepares for Xbox 360
Nihilistic Software goes to the next generation...
Midway Games Chicago has secret PS3 game...
Surreal Software wants PS3 help
Blizzard getting ready for Xbox 360 and PS3

lazy bastads.

i would love to see the Enclave sequel finished. Riddick is a great game, but Enclave is one of my favourites on Xbox, so i really hope to see a sequel. make it, damn it! or are Enclave sales that disappointing?

It wasn't a blockbuster...but it certainly suprised their publisher...

I think given the expectation it had (read: zero), it made a healthy 300k-400k last time I heard sales numbers.

This was definitely a game that sold more on word of mouth than advertising or movie tie-ins

CoR2 would be freaking awesome.
And hell, since it never saw the light of day on the Playstation they should port over a graphically enhanced version of Chronicles of Riddick for the PS3.

INTO THE SHADOWS !!!!

Don't fucking joke! I was blown away by this at E3. Truly amazing for the time and a real shame about the way it never was to be released... If they wanted to realize this now it simply wouldn't be as awesome as it would've been back then. Crazy coders there at Triton/Starbreeze.
