Starbucks will expand its evening alcohol and light bites menu, which includes bacon-wrapped dates and Malbec wine, to thousands of stores, Chief Operating Officer Troy Alstead said in a phone interview.

The rollout, which can help boost sales, will take several years, he said.

"We've tested it long enough in enough markets -- this is a program that works," he said. "As we bring the evening program to stores, there's a meaningful increase in sales during that time of the day."

Bacon wrapped dates are amazing. Not sure about from Starbucks though.

But probably not here in PA :'(

Stupid laws...

Haha PA alcohol laws are indeed insane.

I've known plenty of local coffee shops that also serve alcohol, seems like it kind of makes sense. Obviously I don't think it's supposed to be a bar atmosphere, but you know.

So... They will add overpriced watered down booze to their overpriced coffee?

And people will line up to be raked over the coals. Fucking amazing.

That seems kind of an awkward decision

What are they, well actually I think the hipsters will eat this up

If they sell 2,dollar beers then I'm gonna become a hipster

there's alot of coffee shops in my city that do the same thing, and it works out really well. it doesn't really change the atmosphere or anything, no drunks flailing around or whatever you'd expect. but those are in the more upscale neighborhoods.

Can't wait to get drunk at B&N and buy a bunch of books I won't read.

They're not affiliated with the company, all they do is sell Starbucks beverages.

I hope I'm done there by the time the program makes its way to my area. Customer base already annoys me, last thing I need is boozing them up.

Man some of you are MAD at Starbucks.

I had a barista who would draw me nice pictures and I tipped well. They had fresh ground coffee and it was great.

The Starbucks is an assembly line.

I've gotten to know the people at the Starbucks and they are nice and good people. But it's not the same.

I generally don't go to a Starbucks after 10am. The addition of alcohol does nothing for me.

I see people running businesses out of Starbucks cafes whenever I go to them. It annoys me because there are very few seats left for people who actually want to sit and drink their damn burnt coffee, AKA what the shop is meant for.

Starbucks is amazing. I would say I'll be anxiously awaiting my frappucino mixed with rum, but I live in Texas and liquor laws are somewhat strict here. Oh well, wine is fine.

Is a list of stores available anywhere?

Can't charge any more than any other bar in town, and they have decent wifi and a fireplace :o

I was a big fan of all the "coffee shop by day/dive bar by night" spots when I visited NYC.

We need those nationwide.
