Sit back and watch as Day[9] presents you with casted matches between players -- employed by Amazon, Dropbox, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Twitter, Yelp, and Zynga -- annihilating each other for a charitable cause. It’s a beautiful concept. What’s more, the last two companies standing will meet live onstage for the finals on the Facebook campus in Palo Alto, CA on Friday, August 19, 2011. Day[9]TV will donate the $5,000 grand prize to the winner’s charity of choice.

This is an amazing concept, I'll be following this for sure.

EDIT: Also, LOL @ MS, Amazon and Google beating the fuck out of Yelp, Dropbox and Twitter. Just like real life!

Microsoft already won versus Google in one of the matches, I can't seem to find the link. They took a pretty bad ass photo LOL, we have some serious gamers here. There is even a super active retro gaming and arcade cabinet building mailing list

I have a hard time watching some of these games after watching mostly pros but its an interesting concept.

Evilore, you should have gotten teamgaf into this! :p

Wow, blue shirt Dropbox guy needs to go up a shirt size. lol

Edit: Beaten so bad. :(

Also it looks like an Alien is trying to burst out of his rips.

Not so much in terms of where the developer talent is going. Twitter is where you wanna be nowadays as a software engineer.

Watched Google vs Facebook yesterday and it was pretty sweet. With these nonpro players you never know whats gonna happen.
EDIT: oh and that Microsoft slogan is awesome XD

Yet you're still going to add them to your buddy list. E-stalking on bnet 2.0 has never been so easy!

macrohard is indeed pretty clever.

Companies are people too! But in this they're representing their companies (none of which I particularly like or care for), so I won't be cheering.

don't even know wtf yelp is

I wonder if the yelp team even gets what the slogan means.

Neat. Are you seriously implying that white people are too stupid to understand the difference between macro and micro? If not, please explain to me why wouldn't they understand that slogan and how it's funny?

Woah there. I think it's just a joke that they are bad at Starcraft, as reflected by the league standings.

Gotcha. Still don't get how it's funny...I'm terrible at RTS games too and I still completely understand the differences between macro and micro. Unfortunately no amount of knowing a concept can make you good at implementing it quickly enough.

Interesting concept. A lot of asians in the teams, so it will be good! (/sc2racism) The MS slogan is brilliant. I wonder if Google bought a Korean pro team for this event. (get it?)

If you eat out a lot, Yelp will help you plenty. I'm surprised Yelp and Dropbox are involved though.

um, dropbox is pretty fucking great in real life buddy.

Gotta imagine that Microsoft is going to clean up on this, just on plain old numbers. We have 90,000 geeky employees to draw from so I'd imagine that we have the biggest pool of Starcraft II players as well.

I think we'd have a tech company EVO wrapped up as well. Buktooth works here now and I think a couple of the Team Khaos guys too.

Man there are lots of MS employees here on GAF.

Again, 90,000 geeks :). I know that I've run into quite a few others in my time here.

So was there just like a company wide email that was just "Who's good at Starcraft?"

Yo yo Twitter gonna bust some caps. Yo!

It wasn't a joke. It was a dig, like 'your queen is so fat, when she spreads creep in xel naga caverns it ends up in xel naga fortress.' I don't think the yelp team has especially fat queens. I'm saying they're so bad at SC2 they might as well have fat queens.
