Starfield - Official Gameplay Trailer Reveal (2023)

Did they ever say anything about possibly being a space pirate? Just imagine having your own base, building your ship crew and just raiding NPC camps. Like with most Bethesda games I don't care about the story, I want to make my own lol.

BTW people who are making shitty comparisons to No Man's Sky remind me of the people who compared Gears of War to Windback and Killswitch. It's fanboy shit that comes off as petty and salty.

Smilies coming in left and right from the usual suspects. You got a hit on your hands here Microsoft!.

While I like what I see, I think that No Man's Sky did it already somehow, even though I'm very interested in Bethesda's vision about that same concept.

It looks pretty, kind of. Anyone else worried that they had camera cuts every 15 seconds during gameplay, never showed any transitions from planet to space, and the framerate seemed to be dipping a lot?

I'm sorry dude. There's not a thing you can say to make people not be excited about this game when it launches.
I'm excited personally and will be there day 1 (on pc), but I can guarantee you if performance is like it was during the presentation at launch the thread discussing the game is gonna be filled with comments complaining about it. But this is par for course with bethesda games, maybe they'll figure it out before launch.

Star Wars Galaxies did it in 2007.
So did No Mans Sky. Its not impossible but, at least according with the devs i've seen talking about it, very troublesome to achieve properly.

Between doing it or not, i think they will but its not in a presentable state yet so they used "cutscenes" for the transitions in this trailer. However, if they're time constrained, it might be one of the things that'll go to the cutting board.

i see you are a bethesda games developer. tell us more about the game since your the expert here
seriously ? you have to be an expert to know that its imposible to fill 1000 planets with meaningful content ? unless those planets are really small i seriously doubt it

Stop calling other people trolls, just because someone doesn't like a game you like.
I've seen you a few times complaining about games, around the forum. So you are no saint.
"Fuck Todd Howard" because of Outposts you dont have to interact with is NOT complaining.
In the presentation he directly said they "can" be homes away from home...."can".

So yes you are concern trolling near to the tee by definition.

Ive complained about games when something is unavoidable or seriously detracts from the experience, but id like you to point out any time ive gone postal on a game or game designer because of something optional.

Heck i actually try my best to complain as little as possible about games cuz if something bothers me theres always other games i can play instead.

Okay, that's fair enough. I think they'll iron it out! That and other reasons are why they took the extra time after all.

The game is still roughly a full calendar year away, I'm sure they'll be able to fix most of the hitches by launch.

Skyrim and Fallout 4 were relatively smooth on their lead platforms at the console launches as well (360 and PS4 respectively).

The F*** Todd Howard is because of the constant disappointments and lies.
Which everyone knows about, even you.

Stop being a Diva, you are not the only one here entitled to criticize games.

I don't like a game you like, so cry me a river.

I think it's pretty smart to have those goldilock zone planets, it reduces the amount of planets that have to be populated for the sake of it(which no doubt would lead to having to use some sort of autogenerating solution a la NMS which tend to become boring and wierd) and let them focus on creating more hand crafted environments in those zones. It also makes a lot more sense from a science POV.

yKeep the salt flowing dude, keep it flowing.
This game is going to be a monster, and played through the whole of this gen.
Oh, definitely. A lot of salty gamers in here. This ones' a generation defining game for sure. It'll be massive when it releases. I'm still buzzing and watched the demo about five times already. It was really incredible!

Honestly. The MS show could have:
Curtains Up
Todd on stage (blabber something about: "it just works")
Roll Starfield Footage
Lights down
End Show

Perfect 10

It is going to be a cutscene for when the ship lands and takes off, I wouldn't expect being able to do this yourself tbh

Yeah there's no way it'll work like this, because that would mean everything is loaded in system wide, which - given the engines these guys have - wouldn't be ideal. Easier to design 100 systems, with each planet it's own cell. Which is totally fine to me.

. . .though it does raise the question on how they'll handle travel between the systems through space and what the environment for space will be like.

I was expecting worse. Impressed with the guilding and modification stuff.

Looks like taking off and landing is done by cutscene and not by the player controlling the ship themselves.

PLEASE tell me this has a shot at being 60fps when it launches.

I feel like that was as close to a disaster gameplay reveal as you can get. Would have fared a ton better if it was 2015 and No Mans Sky + Star Citizen didn't set expectations.
Arent you on pc?
I assumed because you always talk about multiplayer stuff.

Looked awesome to me - don't care that much about the technical stuff in Bethesda games. And I expect the combat to be subpar regardless - also don't care about that. My only concern now is the variety of the enemies and worlds - like is there only humans and some alien animals and some robots? Or is there more? And is it just forestry or barren landscape or city? Are there more types of cities than they've shown - interested to find out
Did you watch the demo? All of that is in this game.

You do know the rest of us can read your posts right?

vvvv
They lost me at building outposts. It's that crap from Fallout 4, all over again.
F**** you Todd Howard.
Your criticism of the game is that it has outposts, that you dont have to interact with, so its concern trolling about a feature you dont have to be concerned about?

Clearly your beef is with building outposts....the crap from Fallout 4.
Even if he said in the presentation you can build them as sanctuaries if you want.

Graphically it doesn't blow me away, but I love Fallout so I'll definitely be checking this out when it comes out!

And I will definitely build a Star Trek-like spaceship. Or the Firefly, let's see :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Play it when it comes out, play it again when all the official expansions are done, and then finally play it 6 years later with all the best mods that have been developed.

I'm confident the game will be good when it comes out, but give the community a few years to mod the shit out of it? That's going to be one hell of a game.

Anyone who thinks 1k planets are impressive and fun to explore, check out no man's sky or elite dangerous.

It's fucking boring and senseless, because they are generated, not hand crafted.

Im definitely excited.

But comparisons to no man's sky are absolutely warranted. It looks like what a no man's sky sequel would look like.

Looking at the laughing reactions to some of these posts and the other reactions left by those people reveals some have been deeply hurt by this going exclusive.

Be strong.

With PC mods you'll probably be able to get an enterprise in the game
