Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Looking forward to review bombing it

Enjoyed the base game but havent had a chance to go back.
Does anyone know how the vehicles work now since the big traversal complaint was that if you walked 10+ mins in any direction you had to land at another tile or something?

Will finally check this game out again. Any news of making planets worth exploring? My two biggest gripes with the game were planets not being worth it for two reasons: Travel takes forever - there is no payoff

Ground vehicles resolve the first issue, but if the result of a land vehicle is driving to the edge of these planets to find 3 enemies and a box of useless loot, it's still a waste of time.

I had done everything of interest to me except the main quest and the pirate fleet questline. Might re-install when Shattered Space drops, this Mako looking thing is a good update.

Tried getting into Starfield again a couple of days ago and binned it after a few hours. So many things aren't right for me. I've loved previous Bethesda RPG's but I'm not convinced DLC's and extra content will ever fix Starfield. Shame.

I like how there keeping the nameing theme for the expansion

launch game
Starfield: Waste of Space
expansion 1
Starfield: Shattered Space

wonder if the next one will be called Starfield: Takes up too much Space
Steam says my install is nearly 130 GB so it's too late for that.

was there a new trailer/footage released for Shattered Space at gamescom? - I can't see anything... or was the only trailer released for the REV-8?

The DLC thing was just a couple of seconds tag at the end of the vehicles trailer, they had a proper trailer for it back in the summer showcase.

Started replaying, and can feel myself getting sucked in again. The scope is just out of this world. Gave myself a bounty trait and I’m away on tracker alliance quests that I somehow managed to completely miss the first time around. First bounty on a massive zero-g space station. Amazing!

Having said that, the 60fps is ropey as hell. Great in smaller places and when walking on planets, but horrendous fluctuation in cities and when driving that vehicle about planets. It’s clearly not going to get significantly better until the next gen of consoles come out (PS5 Pro?).

As for the vehicle itself, well, it’s certainly faster and a great addition, but I had the misfortune to land and try it out on a planet full of trees and rocks, and it wasn’t a great experience. It would be nice to have a small flying vehicle, or an unlimited jet pack instead. Maybe one day!

Now I can go back in and do more of the planet exploration tasks, this should make that a lot less tedious.
You would think so, but it has no cargo space. Also for me it uses the most dumb setup for controlling it (either control option is not good).
Good thing mods already fix the first issue, now just a remap of the controls...

Game just keeps getting better and better. Spent a couple of hours yesterday doing planet surveys in the Rev-8 - almost criminal that they didn't have it in at launch (as it was with the city maps), but not complaining now. They really did a nice job with the vehicle addition so credit where it's due. Game just got even bigger (and it was already huge). So excited for the DLC. I still have a few side quests to mop up from the original, but nothing too exciting. Be nice to have new content.

Hopefully they keep supporting this game for many years to come. I'd like to see some quests from the community too. I think this is my most played game of all time now, somewhat unexpectedly. Save file says 6 days, but not sure how accurate that is.

This will at least help the boring exploration a little bit. Now if they can fix the procedural spawning of the same cave and building with icicles everywhere it'll be a lot better.

I assuming this expansion adds a decent amount of new side quests. Do we have any info on that yet? All i've seen so far is a focus on main story and that it's a focused explorable world.

Yeah tried it last night. Just terrible. They have looked so much at No Man’s Sky when making this game but they clearly missed that you break stuff if you drive fast in No Man’s Sky, which make driving convenient.
This is just a jank fest now. Cool if you’re on a flat sand planet but it’s impossible to drive on a densely vegetated planet.

The actual driving mechanic is great though, controls are a bit strange at first but I got used to it fast and everything is really well made.

I want a smaller space craft just flying above the trees.

Has anything materially changed from the slog-fest that was the base game? I could not bring myself to keep going after like the second or third major city, and it seemed there weren't many more major cities left which was .. disappointing to say the least.

There has been many updates and it has been improved but no new cities and I agree that they’re too few.
In general I liked it a lot but it’s a slow game. I spend lots of time building space ships and outposts and I just enjoy doing my own space adventures and doing the factions and side quests. I play it like No Man’s Sky.
Hoping they won’t drop post-release support anytime soon, looking forward to Shattered Space.
