the pictures in the first post look like complete dog shit. what a joke so far. after seeing games like RE4, metroid and the new zelda, it makes me wonder whether namco still has the talent to take advantage of hardware

You pple need to read more posts before posting......

yes, and I want to remind people that SFA by Rare wasn't exactly criticaly acclaimed even though it looked awesome.

That's true. But since it was hijacked into being a SFA game from whatever it was supposed to be at one point, no one really knows if it was ever going to be good as an original IP. Nintendo knows their fans (some of them) mostly buy games based upon their association with an established franchise and not their quality. Luckily the two occasionally intersect. I hope this does. I wish they were doing it themselves, but at least it's Namco at the helm and not...I don't know, SEGA.

Is the tank stage just an arena that you roll around and blast sh!t to pieces? The screens seems to indicate that.

*sniff*

McBeth was an awesome stage.

Yeah, I bet Amusement Vision would make a great Star Fox. Though maybe not all that different from Assault when all is said and done.

Needs better art, and better choice of colors. As for the HUD...how can the Ace Combat team make something like that? Did they fire the HUD design person responsible for those last couple of AC games? :/
Oh well, at least the music is orchestrated! :D

Looks great so far, looking at the screens and vids brings back great memories of playing this back in summer '97 with my bro and friends. Would also be sweet if it supported the BB adaptor too (why Kirby's Air Ride gets BB adaptor support but games like Metroid Prime 2 don't blows my mind).

What the hell is wrong with Namco? I'm gonna be seriously pissed if this game is nothing short of amazing. Those shots look like N64 all over again. How long have they been working on this game and why does it still look like crap?? The HUD still looks ridiculous.. what's with the stupid colors and font size 50?

Star Fox: Assault release date: 2/14

Nintendo hold this game back or there will be hell to pay!

Those screenshots seem crappy, but both IGN and GameSpot are saying the near finished build of the game is looking quite nice and plays much better.

So this is definitely on my "to buy" list as of right now.

After playing RE4 this game hurts my eyes. Wasn't there a beautiful vegetation level with green shrubbery everywhere? Show those pictures

Sweet, Starwolf! Looks like Pigma's gone. I'm suprised no one is talking abuot it (did I miss an old thread where this was already shown?)
I guess it makes sense. Pigma knew Peppy and Peppy is an old fart by now, so I assume Pigma must have retired as well.

What's going on with the wolf and the lizard pushing their pelvis out???? Is this some sort of clue on the direction the Starfox franchise is heading????

hold it back 3 more years? Maybe the game will be fun to play you know.

Does anyone else hope that the submarine from Star Fox 64 will appear in SF Assault?
AFAIK, it hasn't been mentioned in any press release... maybe it's a surprise ?!

The graphics might NOT be Namco's fault. I read an interview with Amusement Vision and the guy said they had a difference of opinion with Nintendo when it came to the quality of the graphics in F Zero GX. They obiously won the argument and hence the great visuals, maybe Namco didnt fight as hard. (in which case I suppose it is Namco's fault too)

If it meant spending less money and time, then yes.

If Nintendo is going to fund that game for at least 3 years, and pay for the CG and voice acting, I doubt they would "cut" the budget on on something like textures, and wtf design aesthetics??

Don't mine him, Shikamaru... He's talking out of his ass.

Outside of the addition of the Arwing stages, there's no indication that any other portion of the gameplay changed, so unfortunately I'm sure Dinosaur Planet would have sucked just as hard. The game was just a collectathon chore with poorly implemented mini-games, tedious fighting system and stiff controls. All the screens of Dinosaur Planet show nearly identical areas and objectives as were found in Star Fox Adventures. Outside of improved graphics, Star Fox characters and flight stages, it was the same game as far as we know.

Jeez. How long has this game been in dev for? I quite like the SF universe, and this game makes me sad. I wanted the universe to be realized with great, modern graphics. Not this crap.

Hope it plays good :/

Ridge Racers for PSP.

The character art is just... wtf? :lol

but the game looks awesome. Looks like it plays awesome, too.

I'm not too happy about how Assault is turning out. This was announced years ago, and I'm not seeing anything impressive. The original StarFox seems like it may still be the best.

I loved the movies. They look a hell of alot better than these screens. Not saying the visuals don't have some problems, but I got used to the dithering and color banding of the N64 game (actually thought the dithering made it look a bit like old war movie footage), so I'll get over the slight visual problems in this one too. If it plays fine, I'll be fine. I can't miss my Starfox fix for the gen.

(hope they get to work on a Starfox DS, soon :))

I just pre-ordered through Outpost, but this is too hilarious for words:

lol. What the heck have they done? They've turned all the characters into a joke.
You're just jealous because you don't have that kind of slinky, sexy body structure. If you did, you'd be doing that, too.

Purple with green? Tacky.

... anyway, in order to know who the hell these characters are, one would have to have played Star Fox 64? I missed most games in that gen.
