DS3 is one of the games this year that I look forward to the most, won't be pre-orderin though (At least not now, might wait and do it if I can get some sick deal)

Maybe the Beta invite might be interesting for some of you as an added incentive to join the tournament :) Still about 2 weeks to sign up and train your tactical skills.

Considering many of you already own FS, I would say that this is a decent reason to finally play it a bit and participate. :D

Wow, this is pretty cool!

I just realized I don't have FS in my library, should've entered for that GA lol

Good luck to all entrants!

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

If you want to participate, but dont have a FS copy, just throw a post into the thread! Someone might be willing to share an extra copy :) (You always get two copies for buying FS)

The pc version of Rise has already outsold the combined sales of its console counterparts.

Of course, this doesn't count the supposed 20% of the copies that are bought digitally on consoles but, even still, it's clear that the PC version is going to exceed the sales on the xbox platforms.

Edit: whoops, I meant to edit this early but forgot to post it. My bad.

But we don't have numbers for digital sales on consoles and number for bundles. So i don;t think that PC version outsold console version.
Well, since Halo 5 taught us that there is a 1:9 retail to digital split on games where the XBone has embarrassingly few retail sales, that would put digital at 368,000 * 9 = 3312000. So over 3 million. Since the X360 has likely the same split, its probably closer to 4 million on consoles and about 400K on PC, so only 10%, which is typical for hugely successful AAA hits such as Rise of the Tomb Raider.

No way. MS said it is way above 1M so that means maybe around 1,5M on consoles.

It's bad because it's not Win7. Go with Win10 if you want a change. Maybe it's something for you, if not just go back.

I haven't encountered any problems with Win10. No games that I have played have given me problems

I tried Wİn 8.1 for 6 months last year and reverted to Win 7. The familiarity I have with it and how accessible it is to me makes a Win 10 migration completely unlikely unless DX12 becomes a de facto must.

It's just as stable IMHO. It fucked up my initial upgrade from Win7 once, but I've run into no problems after doing a clean install. The big question is how much privacy intrusion there is, compared to Win7.

Win 8 still makes me angry everytime I use it. Not annoyed, but really angry.

How much of a performance boost if any does it offer dor playing games on some pc/laptop systems from 2-3 years ago?

If you still haven't played Trails in the Sky, be aware there's an unfixable glitch on Windows 10 with the game, resulting in a non-working VSYNC, 125 fps and judder.

Might be worth staying on Win7 for a few more months if you plan on playing the games.

0%
Systems from 2-3 years ago won't be even able to run the games using DX12 (Ashes of Singularity, soon Rise of Tomb Rider and Quantum Break).

I installed it clean not too long ago (after accidentally killing my W7 install by deleting the boot partition), and I haven't really had anything to complain about, other than the walled-garden nature of the W10 Store. I mainly use it for games and (occasionally) Office, since most of my work-related stuff is done running Linux.

It's probably worth your while to (backup and) upgrade, just so that you have a valid license in case you need to upgrade later, e.g. due to games requiring DX12. If you don't like it, then you can always go back to W7.

None.

But the perf does not degrade (you can't take this for granted with modern operating systems).

You don't ever get the key to Windows 10 during a free upgrade.

Clean install: create bootable media of Windows 10 using the Media Creation tool, boot from it, format the hard drive, etc, then enter the key for whatever version of Windows you are upgrading from - it will upgrade from that key. You only have to do this once, if you reinstall Windows 10 later on the same system, it will recognize the hardware (after a few runs of Windows Update).

Do a backup first, as usual.

Yeah, totally. My cousin bought the game digitally on XB1 so I can rightfully state that there is a 9:1 attach rate of digital to physical.

e:beaten to the joke.

You can retrieve your W10 key pretty easily once you have upgraded; there's a free piece of software (Nirsoft's ProduKey) that'll show you a lot of keys on your system, including the one for Windows itself. That's what I used, since I was not aware that I could simply use my W7 key during a clean install.

It depends on how CPU limited you are. On Laptops I can definitely see a benefit in terms of CPU power consumption.

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
SFV dropped to 4th now, it was second behind Dark Souls 3 (lol it never had the top spot because Dark Souls 3 pre purchase went live at the same time) but now its back bellow XCOM 2 and more worryingly, The Division (what? where did the sales spike come from, its not out for a few weeks right?)

Deserved or not
its deserved
lol that sucks since Capcom was on a bit of a positive roll lately

Iirc it's single key for all upgrades, and it can't be used on other than PCs that were upgraded.

i had this problem with my laptop
it cam installed with windows 8 home but with one language only , tried to add second language then it's says only with pro edition
so , i bought a disc version for Win 8 pro from amazon
tried to clean install it, my laptop didn't allow me because this laptop already has a key for windows 8 , so i can't forever install pro edition.
now i am afraid this will happen again in windows 10.

Thanks, I didn't know it's there (I thought it might not be stored on the machine anymore).

I think in this case you need to do an upgrade before a clean install.

the problem was the motherboard recognize the windows 8 key , so it only let me install Windows 8 home not pro

now , i have windows 7 pro, i wonder if i upgrade to win 10 ( i think they gonna give me pro edition? )
then if i tried to install clean version it wont let me ?

We can check whether or not this is the case. Here is a SHA256 sum of my key (25 characters, 4 dashes in between):

If you upgrade to Windows 10, it will save that somewhere on the Microsoft servers. If you later do a clean install of Windows 10, it will recognize your system, you won't have to enter any keys. (Bar bugs, obviously, but it does work, I did it myself many times and saw it done by others.)

Well, tried SFV for three hours, the game has a lot of problems.
First, the game crashed several times for me, giving me a Kiwi something error, fatal error and something regarding memory usage.
Second, there are already cheaters online. I met a couple of people and the following happened: huge lag in the start of the match, after that I couldn't do any move, it was like the game couldn't register my input, so my character was here doing nothing.

The online is a mess, for now. It disconnects way too often, the game takes too long to find a match.
The game itself is good, but...it really feels like a beta. It's so poor of content. Story mode can be completed in, dunno, 30-40 minutes? Let's say one hour. It's like a prologue for the "true" story mode.
Compared to USFIV, characters have only one critical art each, V system is useless, at least for me (or I need to understand what the purpose is, but I managed to complete story mode and defeat opponents online without ever using it).

By winning a match online you gain only 150 fight money, so if one character is 100000, good luck with that after the first one you will take for free.

The fact this game is ONLINE ONLY is irritating. Even story mode is binded to online. Everything is. Capcom should find a way to let the people play the game offline too, syncing progress when they log into servers.

I was like you. The jump to Win8.1 was not great, mainly due to Metro integration whose many elements could not be disabled (corners, sides, menus etc.). Just recently went to Win10 and you'll probably be glad to hear that Metro integration is fewer. Coupled with ClassicShell you can get a more familiar experience. Like I did.
Sure, would have liked things to be easier but DirectX12 being exclusive to Win10 will force your hand sooner than later.
I'm still holding off until a complete edition gets released. I don't enjoy getting stuff piece-meal.

But as I said, I found this key across the internet. Google turned up some 4k hits, so the fact that ours differ is probably just because we have different versions of W10. In fact, based on keys that have been posted elsewhere, I can identify that you have the 'Pro' version of W10 (I have the 'Home' version).

Yeah, this settles it. These keys are generic 'this guy used a free upgrade and got Windows 10 X' then...

No, no, no.

I used a free upgrade from an older version of Windows. I never saw the upgrade key until today, I just let Windows 10 do the upgrade, etc. I then did a clean install of Windows 10 without entering any keys and it picked up that it was installed already on my system (in the past). The upgrade key is a generic one (see above).
