what i find even funnier is that personally that I think that on paper, out of all the dlcs in FO3, NV, and with the recently announced FO4 dlc, on paper Dead Money sounds the most interesting, EASILY. going to rob a casino that no one has ever been able to rob even after the bomb drops. that sounds fucking awesome.

Indeed.

I think the thing I found the most amusing is that even though the developers try to sway you from getting all the gold with that "letting go" nonsense, Dead Money is still the most broken DLC in the game outside of Lonesome Road.

The first time I played it through, I got the Holorifle (which, with just one of the upgrade components, can two-shot Deathclaws at Level 50), 1,500 Pre-War Money just from picking up everything that wasn't bolted down, 9.5k in casino chips, an Assassin Stealth Suit, more suits of armor than I could carry (and which were all worth a fair chunk of change) and enough chips to buy a stack of Stimpaks and Weapon Repair Kits every three days, absolutely trivializing the main game.

The second time, I got all that, plus all the gold and everything in the vault, plus the Elijah holomessage (that I forgot to pick up the first time) that makes Veronica an absolute beast in combat.

you must be hanging out with some weird ppl if you're all getting together ironically enjoying dead money -___-

a) not everyone agrees it's crap, everyone who's opinion about fallout i give a crap about i've talked to enjoyed it even if we all agree it's got annoying stuff to it. you just power through it cos u know, the story's really good, the atmosphere's really good, the story hooks with the other dlc are great, etc.
b) you don't have to finish it and bitch about it. hard save before going into the casino, try it out and then if you didn't like it then just load ur save. it's super easy and you get to see for yourself.
c) the gold thing mod is ridiculous, you're actually ruining the whole point of the dlc by doing so. the point is that you can't take the gold, you have to leave it or you die like a random indiana jones henchman.

I don't "ironically enjoy it". It failed in the first place. Adding mods doesn't make it a better DLC - just more tolerable.

And yes, I was seriously considering scrapping three hours of playtime and reloading to before I started the DLC until people here told me about its problems and recommended the mods.

I took all the gold, and now it's sitting in my (modded) Presidential site. You mad?

i find it absolutely hilarious that someone would install a mod to greed out over fake gold

edit: omg you're actually using the words "you mad"

the point is that the game told you you couldn't get something, and then you ocd'd over it and had to install a mod to get it

which is kind of sad

it does say a whole lot of how bethesda games (and lately games in general) train their players

never got to finding those things but context is everything and if history tells me anything there's not gonna be much of any context at all in a bethesda game

and dead money is all about context and it flew right over ur head

My playthrough, my rules. I did my second playthrough with the express mantra of "kill everything, take everything". Like I said, the moral message of the DLC doesn't work when, in virtually every other instance in said DLC, you get more money and supplies than you know what to do with. If you don't walk out of there with a minimum of 50k in cash and pre-war money, you're just not doing it right.

The Bethesda games have nothing to do with this. NV is the first modern Fallout game I've played, and I've dumped 200 hours into it. Telling me that I'm "sad" for using a mod in a virtual game, in a DLC that is already broken from an in-game standpoint, is a hollow insult.

and dead money is all about context and it flew right over ur head

I understood it just fine. It didn't work. At all.

GMG, pls.

>Adds game to cart, $59.99 USD
>inputs voucher, $45 USD
>checks out with PayPal
>charged $60 USD
> ???????
> support refuses refund
????????

Well, fuck you, too, GMG. Fuck you, too.

E: My bank stopped the payment, though, so, idgaf, but what kind of scummy practice is this? I didn't even get to review the order before it totally processed, otherwise I'd have caught it.
GMG sounds like it has lived long enough to become the villain. What a shame.

new vegas for all of its fantastic choice and consequence and deep systems and all that, it's still at its core a bethesda game

also i didn't say you're sad, i'm sure you're a perfectly functioning and normal human being. in the context of this dlc tho, installing a mod cos u know, hoarding, is kinda sad because it's missing the point

if you had so much supplies and money why did you take the gold?

i'm confused why did you even play it twice if you didn't like it

I'm not denying that NV is a fantastic game. It's one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

Which makes the wonky quality of the DLCs so frustrating. I still went through all of them (twice, even) because I was going for completionist status both times.

i'm sure you're a perfectly functioning and normal human being. in the context of this dlc tho, installing a mod cos u know, hoarding, is kinda sad because it's missing the point

I'd advise you to cut that out right now, because your posts read like insults and I'm pretty sure you've lost the point of what I'm talking about.

The moral of the DLC failed. It failed, utterly and completely.

I just told you. "Kill everything, take everything". Get all unique items, weapons, armors and miscellaneous gear while still wiping out everyone I can.

Kojima meets Norman Reedus for 'update'

Look, I know I'm skirting the definition of 'news' here, but allow yourself to indulge your hype-fuelled inner child for a moment and have a gander at Hideo Kojima's latest tweet, then I can go back to telling you about release dates and improbable feats in Dark Souls.

Yes, Kojima is a master of publicity and the bane of Konami PRs, but he could be teasing an actual thing as opposed to his own Kojima-brand mystique. Norman Reedus, as you will likely know, was the star of Kojima-Guillermo Del Toro horror spectacular Silent Hills before it was canned. That implosion caused Del Toro, in an interview with Playboy, to swear off making games for good, "otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something."

However, in two days' time, on February 18, Kojima and Del Toro will be holding a joint talk at the DICE Awards, purportedly to revisit fond memories. Could the proximity of Kojima's catch-up with Reedus be coincidence? Calculated PR stunt? First hints at a revived Silent Hills-alike which doubles as a calculated PR stunt?

Your entire argument boils down to "I'm mad because this guy doesn't play the game the way I want!" I use mods. If you have a problem with it, that's your prerogative.

Doesn't matter anyway. I'm more or less done NV - just down to post-game content and a couple of larger mods.

Think about the free online.

I have no PS+ subscription, and I played DS1 and Bloodborne offline. So I guess it wouldn't affect me so much. And I would prefer having a physical copy of it. Also, not sure how the game would run on my PC (FX6300 3,5GHz, R9 270 2GB, 8GB RAM), even if DS2 port was extremely well optimized. Not to mention that I find paying more than 20-25€ on a single digital only game too much.

Having said all that, I'm still very tempted to get it.

I find it funny that few people ever seem to notice Kojima's hard on for Western media.
I mean it makes him cute, but this guy's hard on for Western media and actors just sounds rather odd, when he's about the one Japanese game dev you associate with such things.

At least when his next protag doesn't do much in the way of talking it'll match the history of Silent Hill protags not being incredibly talkative

wait, so SFV's story mode is going to be 1-2 hours long?

Why did they even bother then? They've embarrassed themselves by even mentioning they were trying to do a campaign ala the Netherrealm games.

It's amazing that they milked sony for making half a game

Kojima's been extremely open about his love for western movies and other media in interviews. It's pretty awesome. Snatcher is something that could only come from a movie guy like him.

I really hope his next game does have a more talkative protagonist though....

Can't believe how uncharacteristically quiet March is =/

January and February were stuffed and there is hardly anything interesting (imo) next month =/

Wait, wait, wait. They want you to sign up as a Steamworks partner (that is, with banking information, company info and everything) for a handful of games?
