Man, I'm a huge heavy metal fan and despise Jpop but I thought the soundtrack was actually pretty cool. Its more like some weird, Japanese electronic indie music than typical Jpop.

True, but some people use jpop as the reason why they hate the soundtrack. There are actually quite a few japanese hip hop tracks here and there. Jrock too.

The game looks great, but I've grown disinterested towards backing successful Kickstarters (or those that are on track to be successful) as there's no guarantee that the DDE tiers will make it on Steam and I don't really want to pay $10 or more for the goodies if they're not going to be considered DLC. Project Eternity was the last project I backed, though I had to pull out at the last minute as I'd forgotten about it and consequently overspent on Steam that week.

I see, I believe many can relate like when people Backed Shadowrun Returns. While the game was fun, I almost ended up not finishing due to a game breaking bug. To add, the short length and many useless skills that you could level up despite not having a proper use left many fans upset. I managed to finish the game, as a I posted some time ago in these threads but I have to agree it was short, considering its style.

I want Wasteland 2, it's a perfect fir for a PC Game, but as always, I'm an aware consumer.

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.
Out of maybe twenty opinions I've read on this game, all but two or three have agreed that it's basically drek. One of those who doesn't seem to mind it is, notably, "cheating [his] ass off" in order to make the game less of a tedious grind.

You probably don't want it. And if you do, you at least shouldn't spend that much on it right before a sale during which you will be able to acquire several games that are better for the same amount of money.

...And now I've just been reminded of Metalchicks. Wow, I can't believe that song is seven years old now.

the fan-service and mechanics and grinding would be fine if the battles weren't so boring

Pretty much supporting it solely for them to keep porting more Japanese games to PC. I'm hoping their next selection is better since they have a few good games they can do.

Developer: Idea Factory = stay the hell away

Their Otome games are pretty decent and with them taking in a mass of NIS employees recently we might get some better quality out of them in their future works.

Yeah.

Thats the problem I have with the game. Even if you are overpowered the battles take far too long and dont offer any big difficulties.
I mean in the NIS-SRPGs the stages are really different. You have height-differences, field-differences and all these things.
In Agarest though you have the same stage over and over again. And even if the scenery changes, gameplaywise its still the same stage that doesnt offer any variety.

I bought it before the game launched to support JRPGs on Steam, but this Agarest is really the worst. And I heard from people who played the other Agarest Games that the one we have on Steam right now is really the worst.

I just hope the shittiness of the game doesn't affect people's willingness to buy TitS whenever it gets released.

that's the thing though, the "decent/good" parts are muddled with a bunch of bad that gets in the way. Yes i'm aware they're not a very big developer(not that i'm saying only good games come out of big developers) but the stuff that they do put out is not that good. In a world where most people have a limited time to play games, their stuff should just be avoided. But then again they've been in the industry god knows how long so there are some people out there that like what they put out. More power to them I guess

The problem with Agarest is just, that the battles are far too slow. Like I said. I use one of the DLC-Swords for the hero and even then the battles take far too long and dont require much tactics.
And I am playing on hard.

The VN-Parts and the story are JRPG-standard and I really like those. Its just that the battles are not really good.

Finished The Dig. That was a silly but good story with awesome music, good graphics, horrible voice acting and some horrible puzzles. Dear God, how can these three trained specialists be so stupid in just about every situation? Still enjoyed it for what it is though. I like the whole 'alien discovery on a barren distant planet alone or with a small group' kind of story. The story gives me the same kind of vibes as the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Would love to hear some recommendations on these kind of stories, be it books, movies or games.

Moon? (The movie)

Stasis

And even though strategy games don't have a traditional story, you might like Maia.

edit: Oh god, how could I forget Moon.

Yeah I said fuck it and used a guide for most of that game. Stunning visuals though and the story was worth experiencing.

Your talk about japanese games on Steam made me sad because Atlus didn't announce Persona games for PC. :(

One could argue that there's no reason to announce the PC version of a game on a Japanese-centered announcement, just like it wouldn't make sense to announce a Xbox360 version of it. Japan doesn't give a shit about both of those systems.

If the game really runs on Catherine tech, as everybody though that was their "let's see what can we do on those new consoles" experiment, there's no reason to NOT release it on the 360 (even more sales), but it wasn't announced for the 360.

Sega also has been porting their stuff to PC. And they recently bought Atlus.

In other words, who knows? Hell might freeze over and we might get a Persona game on PC. I wouldn't bet on it, but I'd like to keep an open mind about it.

Random question:

The reason EA games were yanked from Steam, supposedly, was that EA didn't like Steam's updating policies and thus titles like Crysis 2 got pulled. When Crysis 2 had all DLC put out in the maximum edition, it was restored and put back on Steam.

I'm wondering, knowing this, if there's any chance of Mass Effect 3 ever coming to Steam?

I don't think EA will simply because of the multiplayer component. It's not completely impossible that they could put a mini, instanced version of Origin into the Steam version like Ubisoft does with UPlay but I wouldn't count on it happening.

Battlefield 3 is complete isn't it? That's not on Steam. Then again, none of the Battlefield titles are, unlike Mass Effect.

At this point, I doubt it. Origin has enough traction to sustain themselves on their own distribution platform.
