it has to be modern interpretation, because that's not what this word meant in gaming, what's a point of even having it? If it's "a simple game design and simple rules", by opinions of some of steamgafers and many other people all games are casual, this interpretation renders this term useless, because simplicity of a game design or rules, doesn't say a thing about how it plays, and we use all genre definitions to define how game plays, because only that matters while choosing a game. Don't you agree?
Far too few people use (or even know about) the feature to report incorrectly-applied tags. But I guess wherever the internet allows for user input, people will be there to screw things up.
I think we will just have to agree to disagree here.
For me casual implies unsophisticated or simple. Something you can play without reading a manual, or looking up a gameplay mechanics FAQ. It states nothing about game difficulty, which can both be easy or hard, or both at the same time. Old arcade games, and hey, Super Hexagon as well seem to fit that bill.
I know loads of people use casual as a substitute for 'that boring game my wife/gf/mom plays on facebook, occupying my computer, the bitch' and as such it does have pejorative connotations.
Those people are wrong. /s
On second thought we probably should ditch term casual for good, as well games can be tagged as simple or complex (><), hard or easy. The problem with this approach is human factor, every single game will be tagged as hard and easy, as simple and as complex. Well, maybe not all of them but 99% for sure.
What I mean we need a term casual for a games for casual gamers, people that don't play a lot, don't know a lot about games and rules and aren't ready to invest a lot of time or effort into the game, only how it is used now, makes no sense whatsoever.

but I can play anything without reading manual or faq, I haven't read one in IDK... 20 years if not more? You see how pointless this argument is? When was last time you read anything to learn how to play a game? Does it mean all games are casual after all? (><)
I'm not being very fair here, because I actually like exploring gameplay mechanics, that's one of the best things about gaming for me. if I was to read a faq on that, that would kill all my interest in a game as surely as watching streams. But still, my point stands, to a point (><)
Saddest thing (as someone who loved the game for, honestly, far too long) is that... Well, it's inevitable. Blizzard keeps reassuring everyone that now they're committed to a faster expansion pipeline so we don't go half a year without new content. But they always say that, and it's always bollocks. :[
This, Prison Architect, and The Forest are the only Early Access games I would have no reservations backing. So from what Im seeing, the incentive of early access is getting the game early AND at a cheaper price than what the finished copy would be?
Also TIL: The bloody queen of my country, Margrethe II was / is an official Tolkien illustrator and knew J.R.R Tolkien, and he loved her art. It's here for anyone interested!
I still can't install Lara Croft and The Temple of Osiris, so I spent all night fucking around on WoW, which means I complete the questline in Nagrand. Damn that ending movie was damn cool
Thrall's last words to Garrosh were perfect! I also almost felt sorry for Garrosh despite knowing quite well what a giant and bloodthirsty asshole he was.
. Blizzard has come a long way in making cinematic for the game with the in-game engine. Their directorial abilities and the tone improved a lot, though some of that already showed up with the last part of Pandaria.
Run or Die keeps being a fun game that is really perfect for pick&play sessions, despite all the deaths and retries. I don't know why it doesn't frustrate me to die and restart, to try to get a bit farther... just to die again and restart.
If Disgaea 5 doesn't sell as planned (150k) then we might not still be in business the year after. Even though Bloodborne is now releasing the same day, we really hope people will pick up both titles at once.
Hey guys, how about a tried and true method of generating cash flow? Just release your old stuff on Steam.
Look at how well it works for Squeenix, Sega and Falcom? You could be among these gods with just a bit of work. Really.

Pretty funny how FFXIII-2 is being advertised on steam considering what we already know of the game. Doesn't stop them from plastering Lightning all over the screen shots and banner though. Not even a single screen shot of Serah lol.

Ooh, looks like I got a Potatoman key from the Groupees GameJam Bundle. I've been waiting to play this, as the half a playthrough I watched was quite entertaining.
The Summer Sale "Mystery" cards appeared about 8-9 days before the sale in June, turning into the Summer Adventure cards when the sale started. Going by a similar time-frame you can expect to see mystery cards showing up any time now.

It didn't used to be, that's something that's new since the last like, sale, I think, and is steam community wide.
Too many complaints about region locked keys, maybe.
Unless they can tie them to actual physical things happening in games and not the achievements, it's not going to happen because of shit like SAM, that made cheating on achievements too easy.
Prelogate keys available via Desura client
Angels of Fasaria keys available for Groupees BAGB8
DailyIndieGame has the Moon Sliver for a PWYW 1$ minimum
Gamesplanet has Shadow of Mordor 40% off
I absolutely hate that this is their official response to people who want gifted bundles to be added to their account.
We can't merge a gift with your profile. It is not technically possible to assign the gift to your profile as gifts in the db are associated to transaction id and email of the purchaser. It also defeats the purpose of a gift.
To be fair although its been a few years I don't think Konami tried to hide the fact that you played raiden in future releases of the game. Considering that this is just coming to the pc and its pretty well known that you play as Serah and not Lightning they should just advertise it like that instead of trying to con people like they did with the console release of the game.
Their excuse is lame, how difficult is it to implement a button where you can claim a gift page? The gifts have unique URLs, just use them to attach to the profile
Btw, from which Donald Duck episode is the gif from? I'd to watch the whole episode

Well there is always option to grant Badge after X amount of purchases. Or for other community interactions like they did it before. But we will see what they have in mind this year.
She stayed consistently uninteresting the entire way through if you ask me.
It was obvious Square didn't know what to do since they weren't using lightning.
