gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Unless they can tie them to actual physical things happening in games and not the achievements, it's not going to happen because of shit like SAM, that made cheating on achievements too easy.

I really, REALLY hope that running animation in FFXIII-2 is not like the Vanille one from FFXIII. I can't stomach 40 hours of so...of that thing.

It's toned down. It's still kinda odd but not to that extent.

Also it's possible to beat FF XIII-2 in 20 hours.
I did so and while I was under level for the last 2 boss fights it made the game really fun because of it.

She stayed consistently uninteresting the entire way through if you ask me.
It was obvious Square didn't know what to do since they weren't using lightning.

I can't agree with that, she grown as a character during a game, that's for sure.
Also Lightning was annoying in the first game. She really was!

that's awesome (><)
Caius was pretty cool though and was the main reason I kept moving forward in 13-2
I'm not so sure, I remember I had urge to giggle many times when he started speaking, although he was determined and dedicated, I'll give him that.

Were never going to come to agreement on this.

For a compromise I can say I noticed some development.
However I didn't feel it was strong enough to fully redeem her.
Noel still feels like the main character to me especially with that one section later on.

If all achievement were locked then we wouldn't see so much whining about achievement cheaters

People would still find a way around it, now when I noticed how extensive usage of achievement cheating on steam is, I think it's hopeless. I still find it amazing, though and still don't see point in doing it.

edited: as for length of FF13-2, it has shitloads of optional stuff, 20 hours seem very little even if for a story if you skip all story sequences altogether. It's no less time demanding than 13 to 100% if not more,
horror of Academia 400 alone can take you countless hours (><)

Steam needs some sort of equivalent of what the PS4/XB1 do in that they let you play the game after downloading a certain percentage of the game and it keeps downloading while you play. It's a pain to have to wait to download 50 gigs worth of a game to play it when it can be playable at half of that, or even less depending on the game.

Just got through Chapters 1-3 of The Dream Machine.

The main attraction of this game is the artwork. Everything is done in claymation. You can really see that a lot of effort and passion went into a game with a good, unique look. So far the story is engaging, with good dialogue and an arc that gets increasingly creepy. Puzzles are mostly good, but some suffer from a lack of intuition. For example, I needed to
put some papers on a window in order to stack and see through them
but I couldn't
use the papers with the porthole,
I had to
click on the porthole and then use the papers on the glass.
Things like that should count as the same thing.

The other major issue is bugs. Save your game often. When certain objects are being used, you can't leave rooms or interact with most of your inventory (including the item being used) so if you don't know what you're supposed to do, you're basically fucked until you figure it out - you can't leave and come back to it later.

The first three chapters took me about 4 hours to get through, total. Episodes beyond 1-2 cost 5 or 6 bucks each, which seems a bit steep for less than two hours of gameplay each, even though I'm sure it takes a LOT of work to do all that animation, so it's partly justified. Also keep in mind that chapter 5 just released and chapter 6 could be a long time away. I'm intrigued as to what happens next, but I think I can wait until it's all done before I get back into it. I'd suggest you do the same unless you like waiting over a year for a conclusion.

That feature has been in Steam for over a year (November 2013). I'm probably a bad person for finding the thought hilarious that Lambda and Arthea sat at home shaking their fist at Valve all this time.

Since half a year ago I think.

I was pretty sure I checked before downloading FF13 just in case, because I didn't wanted to wait that long. Then again I tend not to notice things, nothing new. (><)

you should have told me! all of you! when I was complaining that I have to wait until FF13 dls!
I'll crawl to my corner now

Huh. Okay, I stand corrected. ;)
I never actually used SAM.

Secure achievements are decidedly uncommon. When SAM was updated to detect them many assumed it was beginning of the end, but most developers -- probably because achievements aren't really tied to anything -- just continued using insecure achievements. The first game I checked was actually TF2 because I figured, at the very least, the more recent ones would be locked down, but nope.

I've only really used SAM once and that was just a week or two ago: I re-locked the Cogs and Super Meat Boy achievements I'd inadvertently unlocked due to using someone else's save to help my way through the Potato Sack ARG way back when. The only Playfire Rewards promo I've paid particular attention to thus far is the original one for Goat Simulator and I did all of those the old fashioned way.

I've managed to save up about £20 worth of store credit from selling cards and a few pre-order items. I still think my Paypal might take a hit. The only thing that might save me is the knowledge that I have so very little cash in my bank account and Christmas stuff (presents, travel etc) still to sort out. If I can survive on store credit I'll be very happy indeed.

GOG isn't Steam.
If you own half of a bundle, your price gets lowered accordingly ;)

Right, for some reason it was showing the same price, I think it was because I logged in from the bundle page and their ajax or something didn't update the price.

Anyway, Winter seal is coming and I overdid it last month, I spent like 40€ without even realizing
damn you indie bundles ! >.<

I just managed to balance it right in Papers, Please! to get the immigration and loyal endings in one branch. Such a good game. Going to start a new one for the Eizic ending for sure.
