Sins of the First Scholar doesn't count?
So Ultra SF4 wouldn't count? If so, none of the many Street Fighter games would count, only 2. Come on now
the one thing i believe to be really dumb is that first bulletpoint, to make it so that the games have to be released on steam
why not just make it released on pc, i feel like not being able to vote for starcraft or league of legends or battlefield (or whatever outside-of-steam game was released year) is pretty bad

yeah was just thinking out loud games outside of steamI sort of agree, but it's not like you could vote for League anyway
yeah was just thinking out loud games outside of steam
minecraft, hearthstone, league, battlefront, starship citizen, titanfall, etc.
i wouldn't be able to vote for like ladykiller in a bind if it's not released on steam
i think it's a bad restriction

i don't think this is supposed to be the ultimate pc goty awards vote, it's just a list of this community's favorite pc games, so it's ok if it's not perfectly representative of all pc gamers but i also would feel really crappy if i can't vote for like ladykiller in a bind or sometimes always monsters just cos they're not on steam
boom, thats the kitty
Didnt even know this was a thing

So can I vote REmake or not?
I have a hatred of ducks since I was attacked by some at Disney World when I was 9.
Ducks are narcissists.
Never going close to one of them again.
Duck is tasty
i don't see what consoles have to do with anythingWell, to be fair, this is a steam thread.
Other than that, the big 3 consoles PS4/XB1/WiiU don't even have their own GOTY voting threads, let alone PC which is way less popular here on neogaf.
Shinra Technologies, the Square Enix cloud gaming company with a Final Fantasy name, is being dissolved. Liquidated. Which makes it sound like some kind of new year smoothie.
A notice was posted on the company's corporate site today. "A couple of wholly-owned subsidiaries of the company have decided to dissolve and liquidate, and as a result, the company will book an extraordinary loss," it read.
The two subsidiaries are Shinra Technology in New York (headquarters) and Shinra Technologies in Japan, and the extraordinary loss is approximately 2bn yen (£11.5m).
"[Shinra Technologies Inc.], as a cloud platform operator, has been trying to raise funds necessary for further business operations from third-party investors," Square Enix explained. "However, STI has found no prospective investors at this point, and therefore has to discontinue its business."
Shinra Technologies was announced at the Tokyo Game Show in autumn 2014. The idea was to have a virtual supercomputer be the motor for games being streamed as video over a cloud, which means you'd only need a device capable of video playback in order to play the games.
"Shinra Technologies Inc. is the next evolution of gaming," Square Enix boasted at the time. "Harnessing the power of a supercomputer in the cloud, Shinra creates a groundbreaking experience not possible with today's current gaming technology. Shinra is not just what's next. Shinra is the technological breakthrough that will propel the industry forward."

It's worth considering the idea of games external to the service, but I feel like it just wouldn't really work considering that we publicly release the results into the Gaming section once voting is completed. The idea of them being SteamGAF GOTY awards is that they represent what was released on the service. As much as it would pain me to not be able to give Queen Christine her rightful throne and scepter for yet another year, I think it would look strange to highlight games that aren't on Steam. In that way, it is a community event, but we're voting for the best software to represent what we're gathered together for.
There's also the Indie thread GOTY awards, which would cover a lot of titles that aren't available otherwise. The thread results are always pretty well mixed between games on different services.
What's Under Your Blanket SPOILERS
What's Under Your Blanket sucks.
Did you find out what's under the blanket?
I'll vote for Nep. I think we should all agree to only vote for Nep1 so we don't splinter the vote and the results actually show how much this thread loves NepNep. Unless you want to include all of the games, that's fine too.I just hope people won't be afraid to vote for Nep Nep because of all bullying going on here all the time. Or should we call it leafying, perhaps?
I'm sorryDisappointment and buyers remorse.
It's so realistic.
I'm sorry
So am I.
For what I am about to do to you ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Why doesn't Steam remember my date of birth? So annoying
I was born on New Years Day dammit
(not really)

Fans of Criterion's crash-heavy racer Burnout and destruction-focused shooter Black should keep an eye on Three Fields' upcoming sports game, the studio has said.
Teasing the game's imminent announcement on Twitter, Three Fields founder/director Alex Ward told fans: "If you liked #Burnout and you liked #BLACK then you might just like this first game we've made at @3FieldsEnt".
The game doesn't feature any cars or guns, though, Ward later clarified.
While the game isn't expected to be revealed until later this month, it's described by the studio as an "innovative... sports game that's fast, funny and heavy on social multiplayer". The game is due for release later this spring.
The studio's second game, meanwhile, will be a spiritual successor to Burnout 3 developed for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Support is also being considered for PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift.
Three Fields Entertainment was opened by Ward and his former Criterion colleague Fiona Sperry back in 2014 following their exit from EA. The studio currently lists 9 members of staff on its website, the majority of which have previously worked at Criterion.
Criterion itself, meanwhile, is still hard at work on its new first-person extreme sports title.
i don't see what consoles have to do with anything
games outside of steam are talked about pretty regularly here, even console games
voting for console games is a pretty big stretch but the games outside of steam that would actually get votes are a handful and it feels weird and unnecessary to leave them out.
i get it that it's maybe too late to discuss this for 2015 but personally if i can't vote for ladykiller in a bind this year i'll just not vote here cos that rule is stupid
?What I mean is, we should be grateful that steamgaf got to vote their steam goty exclusively, while the other platforms don't have the same privilege. If it were PC goty voting, the others will ask for the same thing.
All these dirty neps.
Only JRPG worthy of recognition and plaudits is Trails
we all were, steam just finds it very hard to believe
Ha
I can understand logging into a new browser and getting the age verification.
But the client surely should have this cached??
Leaky caches
Enhanced Steam lets you skip age verification automatically (that's a browser addon by jshackles, and a very useful one, might I add, if you didn't hear of it before, be sure to check it out).
why you people keep buying those horrible joke games that aren't funny?
I didn't. It was gifted and it's rude to not play games that you get as a gift.
To be fair I only bought them to inflict terrible crap on innocent people.
