When Sega finally releases its last-gen console exclusives on the PC it can use its bajillions of dollars to buy back the game from Nintendo. :p

Or maybe they announce it for PC/Steam during E3 to cut their losses =V I mean just because Wii U sales got a boost from MK8 won't mean Bayo 2's gonna sell like hotcakes.

Nintendo's publishing the game, so for Sega to release it anywhere else it'd need to pay back Nintendo's investment (or a number Nintendo deems fair). Wolf09 is in much the same situation -- it wasn't included in the id sale because it was still in development at the time, so Acti retained ownership.

Yeah, but I'm sure Sega put some sort of contract language in there to protect their IP and allow them to leverage it for money at a later point if the game turned out well. At least that's what I'm banking on, because I don't plan on ever buying a Wii U.

Eh I'm a blind optimist who gives the middle finger to logic sometimes but I get what you mean.

Sometimes middle fingers are required.

True... or maybe Nintendo will not have a good outlook and will decide to pursue getting Sega/Platinum to port it to other platforms for a cut of the sales.

That'd certainly be a creative compromise.

I had a wacko dream once (no not the RDR is on Steam) where Nintendo ends up releasing the classic NES Mario games on Steam that had like Taxman+M2-like porting quality and it sold so well it was a top seller for a week.

Now that you have played the original, want more? Buy a Wii U.

If we assume Sega does intend to/is working on bringing the original to the PC, then I'd say the decision to give Nintendo the sequel was, in hindsight, not the best decision as the additional attention the PC version is to bring may have turned around Sega's opinion on the viability of internally bankrolling a sequel.

Japanese publishers and forward thinking is like mixing oil and water.

SEGA only recently started to see the light of how good PC gaming can be for it.

Also this, but to be fair, back in the 90s there was no reason to think that far ahead. I mean how would someone from the 90s expect SEGA Classics to show up on Steam and other platforms?

Yeah, that's why I said it'd be a regrettable decision in hindsight. Understandably, at the time Sega's attitude towards a Bayonetta sequel was firmly "It's not going to happen unless someone else pays for it".

Oh man, not a good idea to turn on every single totem you find in Bastion. I was getting my ass kicked before I quit the game, lol.

I'm having some trouble trying to perfect score the War Machete challenge. The little floating fellas spread out really quickly.

I wonder if all this 'Japanese goodwill' can be traced back to the Namco Bandai 2012 or 2013 Fiscal Report. They are a publicly traded company and I'd imagine the other Japanese publishers were blown away from their financial growth on the PC side.

What did it state regarding their PC side of things?

All 10 Totems make life a nightmare.
Some of those "challenges" where there's an achievement for completing them with all totems on are just... yeah.

There's a trick to the machete challenge... roll into the center and go kamikaze until they stop spawning -- then just go around the outside and take out the generators and dragon statues as quickly as possible.

Don't read to much into this as these are just my random musings before I go to bed, but I'd imagine it showed a very clear and very massive growth in the PC sector directly after Dark Souls was released.

"Imagine those games came out on mobile instead, they'd make even more"

"Imagine those games came out on mobile instead, they'd make even more"

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I look at Capcom's financial reports and see their massive losses sustained in the mobile sector. They then decide to double down on that portion of their business, investing millions.

This is partially what lead me to my oil and water metaphor a few posts ago.

^Capcom being a Japanese company is just going with what the Japanese game industry's strongest is right now which is Mobile gaming.
Thing is they don't seem to even figure WHY their mobile venture isn't working.

I say stop thinking small, eff the Japanese gaming industry and just pander to the west and put your ish on Steam.

"Imagine those games came out on mobile instead, they'd make even more"

More from the IAP you mean =P

For that matter I'd like to see Ace Combat Infinity on Steam. I'd just get that DLC/whatever that made single player be less W2P, and play online when I felt like it.

I'm surprised no one has posted these mouthwatering screens of ETS2 graphics update that will be released sometime in the future (please be within this year).

It looks so Skyrim-like.

has http://steamlessness.appspot.com/ stopped working for anyone else? the site loads fine but i get nothing after i put my ID in
Yeah, not working for me either :/

70th anniversary of D-Day is coming up. It'd be a nice theme for a bunch of ww2 games to go on sale, right steam? ;-)
I can see it: Special CoD Warchest sale, only 13.99!
Thanks Acti!

So, I'm close to spend my Summer Sale budget on Mario Kart 8. I don't even own a Wii U ( I would be playing at a friend's house).

Talk me out of it Steamgaf ;_;
I wouldn't say no to Luigi

It's a great game, but if you don't own a Wii U, get your friend to buy it instead.

Plus, you can save yourself some of the frustration of getting blue shelled or otherwise robbed at the finish line.

love that game
This is worse hilarious

Besides, it's mario kart. It's pretty much the same as the last 7 games.

Metal Mario is you btw.
Seriously, no, it's like saying SFII and SFIV are pretty much the same game which is ridiculous.

How is DMC4 on Steam? 60FPS consistent, good graphics options?
Excellent on all accounts.

It's not like Bayo was a great seller to begin with, so one can't really fault Sega for taking a good financial decision for once.

I've only explored something like 40% of the 'standard' map + the Going East expansion... so I'm nowhere near ready for the new expansion! SCS have hinted that it'll be out this year, though, I think.

Edit: we may receive the previously mooted graphics update prior to (or separate from) the new Northern Europe/Nordic expansion, though, perhaps... but between all of that, and American Truck Sim, SCS have their hands full.

Scrap that, I'm ready - looks wonderful.

I say go for it. The game is the most fun I've had so far this year on any platform

HOPE MOAR

eh, why are we talking about this stuff in here anyway?

How do you have over a hundred hours in Batman?!

I mean, i really like B:AC, but that is an awful lot of time for that game.
I'm a "slow gamer", so finishing the game took me around eighty hours. Plus some more for collecting all Ridller Trophy's and a whole bunch of Riddler Challenge's.
I have some hours in the non-GOTY and PS3 version as well. Still can't get enough of it. I kinda really love the game, even with it's flaws. (especially in storytelling)

Nice giveaway! I wish small potato people who have given away twice amount of the games they have received would be eligible as well :p
