This is pretty nice. As a fan and someone that Platinumed the Trilogy, I will buy immediately if this is more than just a simple port.

I guess Light returns to phones, pc, 3ds. Where will she go next?

The ONLY reason I would consider buying this is to show Square that there is in fact interest for JRPG's on PC and therefore increase the possibility of Final Fantasy XV coming to PC.

Why are you guys excited to play this again?

It's not specifically this game that excites me, but rather the weight that this news carriers. Seems like Japan is going all in on PC.

I mean FUCK, MGSV is coming. When's the last time a Metal Gear came to PC? Substance? When's the last time a FF came to PC? VIII?

This is good news. I agree, XIII is absolute shit. (Sure is pretty, though) But this really is a good thing.

:O

Number of console exclusives that will still be exclusive to the consoles will probably number on two hands by the end of the gen at this rate.

What does this mean for consoles though?

I know many who would buy a PS4/XB1 for a FF/MGS/KH game, but if they are
coming to PC than that negates any reason to jump to next gen consoles :/
Well in order for the PC versions to be worth it they need to be high quality ports. That isn't always the case these days.

Well the problem here is that no console sells in Japan so to even justify investment they have to diversify to PCs, tablets and phones.

Type 0 HD is coming out next year. And nobody is going to buy an Xbox one or PS4 for "Lighting trilogy" to start with.

Both of these are fair points.

Out of curiosity, what are the chances SE brings over their PS2 jrpgs to the PC?
If they are doing FF13, then they can conceivably bring over the FF10/10-2 remasters
as well as the rumored FF12 HD and all the KH remix collections!

I'm so happy right now :'D

That's a sobering reality check.

III, a few months ago. ;)

Good for consumers and devs, bad for MS and Sony.

Nah, Sony have got their stable of exclusives. People will get the PS4 for those.
But I expect to see PC further pushing consoles into irrelevancy this gen.

Sony should develop a steam like distribution platform next gen.

Ew. On one hand, FFXIII. On the other, this might be the only way I'll ever buy Lightning Returns. We'll call it a toss-up. At least Square-Enix is getting more interested in PC releases.

It will probably only be Sony/MS first party titles. More and more coming to PC, I can't think of too many 3rd party console exclusives that are left.

Not sure if it's the increasing popularity of PC gaming or Sony/MS promoting easier PC ports with this generations hardware, either way I am happy.

Welp. Ff15 PC is almost a lock now I'd assume.

If it wasn't due to it using DX features/API's, it is now.

But wrong FF-Ecks-Eye-Eye, Square. It should be 12:I:ZJS HD, not "My darling Waifu Lighting Can't Get Another Sequel?"

Was any of the games in the trilogy what could be called good?

FFXIII-1 was what i would call mediocre to average. The battle system was ok, and the characters while annoying, were not blatantly offensive(except vanille). Graphics were ok too considering how much money they pumped into the visuals. But the other two games were just terrible in my personal opinion.

Final Fantasy 13 has a better meta score than Destiny, so that means it must be good.

....I couldn't type that last part with a straight face, I rented it on PS Now and couldn't even get through it. 13-2 on the other hand is pretty decent so far.

FFXIII received a grand total of two hours of play time from me on the 360. I loved the FF games on the original PlayStation (absolutely adored FFVIII) but outside of the flashy graphics I kind of hated the game. That said if my modest PC can run this I'd be interested in giving the game a second chance on Steam.

Good news for PC gamers I guess depending on how you feel about FFXIII.

I still remember being super hyped at this bullshit. I had just built a new PC and was hoping FF13 would come to it. Obviously, it was long before the game came out.

At this point, uh...you guys can keep it.

When people complain about Vanille, is it about her voice?

I ask this because I played the asian version with japanese voice, so I don't understand where the hate comes from.

FF13 has the bioshock infinite effect, where anticipation is building for so long, nobody wants to be the one to say its crap until after the hype dies down. This was just after the golden years of PS2, so nobody is gonna say anything...we were not used to SE being crap just yet..
