Yeah, the whole debacle with the reddit user stealing HolyFridge's screenshots and making up nonsense about a hidden setting was hilarious. Playing the game at 4K is the secret sauce :p

Was amusing seeing so many on gaf believe it though, I tried to do my part by linking to the screenshot thread but not many seemed to notice :/

I did it ! I beat the Smudge Demon ! it only took me an hour and a half, it was a matter of patience which I have little of, and the more I died the less I had, but in the end I prevailed, yay me !

Just installed 1849 and played it for a bit. Charming little game, if a little "mobiley".

I love courteous and respectful the text is! The tutorial is like "could you please click this button?"

i'd even take Lollipop Chainsaw at this point, which I guess could be more likely

I always thought that punk boss that just yelled insults ("fucking BIIIIIITCH!") and the words attacked you was a cool idea

I need some advice on comfy couch gaming using steam. I recently set up my gaming PC as media center (XBMC//Steam Big Picture) and really enjoy it. The access of all media through one device is just awesome and looks so slick :D The games I tried so far are Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Rayman Origins and Max Payne 3 and all of those really suprised me in a positive way.

Sonic is a perfect kart racer and runs amazingly well. I think I did not enjoy a kart racer that much since mario kart 64 :D Couch multiplayer is just a great thing :D Rayman's graphics are beautiful to look at and really benefit a lot from the bigger screen and Max Payne is just a big budget AAA game that feels very different when played on a TV (dat cinematic experience :D).

Any suggestions on other games that benefit a lot from being played in a couch setup? What are your favourites?

any game that supports a controller is fair game. I play anything except FPS/RTS/Point and click from my bed on the TV like a lazy bastard

I have a cheap ass 40 inch local brand HDTV tho and some games look like crap, my monitor is way better so I do make some exceptions but ussually the laziness gets me over image quality

I forget, does Ubisoft do preloads?

On Steam, yes. On Uplay, no:

Does Uplay even have the preloading feature? Well, you have it on Steam already, but damn it I have it on Uplay.

Apparently not. Yet another example of the irony that is Steam picking up Uplay's slack.

Is that with the deferredfx ini line set to PC? Most the new shots I've seen after it was discovered are matching the nvidia shots from a month or so back

See Dogg's post a little further up.

Aww, secret awesome PC mode was a lie? :( tbh I can only really go off the posted screenshots, still waiting on Uplay to open up my copy, but I did think the buildings in the distance in those new shots looked better than what had been posted previously, but guess it's just a case of placebo effect/screenshotter with a good eye for nice looking pics.

I was thinking more of games that feel different when played on a living room setup. Games like XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Teleglitch or Deus Ex:HR do have controller support, but I would still prefer to play them on a monitor.

What is really making me chuckle is that Watch_Dogs sounds like it needs 5gb of VRAM at high resolutions and AA implementation where as Killer is Dead only needed a smidge over 1gb at 3840x2160 with 4xSGSSAA and artistically looks gorgeous. Goes to show good art direction is more often than not better than fancy effects.

So I forgot the indiegala free giveaway of Afterfall Insanity - Extended Edition until just now. As I am one to try and play all my games rather than +1 collection (I could never catch up), is it worth even getting it? I see some reviews that make it sound interesting, but at the same time I recall so many here simply calling it a bad game without much explanation from what I recall.

I feel like we should get some GAF games of Battleblock Theatre going

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Yuck. After some gameplay and walkthrough videos I have seen, the game sees very boring, bland and dull. Not wasting money on that shit right now at least. Still have Wolf, Transistor, Child of Light, Shadowrun Returns and some other games to play though anyway.

JaseC, man, for the love of god, don't switch to ATI.
While most of the stuff I've tried works, there are so many little problems, not counting terrible driver situation, that you're really better off with NVidia.
Really.

I went full ati once (laptop). It was ok I guess, but battery life was terrible. Had to downclock so I could just barely last one lecture (2 hours)

My current nvidia laptop with an i7 can somehow last 6 hours.

I don't know AMD isn't that bad. Well it might be in the gaming sense for some titles but if you do a lot if rendering or GPU compute viable tasks I've noticed better performance with OpenCL over CUDA. Plus the lure of coin mining still holds true. And who wouldn't want their crypto currency with that adorable doge on it.

True, but there are all sorts of small things that mar the experience considerably.
Look at it this way - JaseC wouldn't be able to run new Wolf if he switched cards at anything above 15 fps.

If push happens to come to shove I don't know if I'll be able to give up FizzSex. Time will tell!
