Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Does anyone have any more intel on that? This sounds rather ludicrous.

My understanding is that the Russian government and a few large Eastern European ISPs have labeled Enhanced Steam's public-facing IP addresses (provided by Cloudflare) as bad because they used to belong to a site that had online gambling(?). Their process to block them was so slow that the old site closed up shop, the addresses were returned to Cloudflare, and we re-issued to me.

After several attempts to contact Cloudflare about the issues their resolution was essentially "take it up with the Russian government if that's who's blocking it" (apparently, the majority of Cloudflare's IP addresses are blocked by them now so they couldn't even re-issue any addresses that weren't already confirmed to be blocked).

If you're affected by this, I would recommend either contacting your ISP or getting a reliable VPN connection in order to access Enhanced Steam's API servers.

In a 60hz monitor, what would be the best experience? Locking a game to 30 fps or locking it at 45? Would 45 feel bad?

I've seen people say that if you can't lock a game at 60, then 30 would be the next 'smoothest' choice, but in literally every experience I've had, a locked 45 has always felt better than a locked 30.

Only Bioware could save this game from being the most disappointing game of the year for me.. and they did, thanks Andromeda. Dawn of War 3 isn't bad, it simply drops or simplifies many of the features previous games had, or alternatively makes them more complicated without adding any meaningful depth. Well, at least it's well tailored platform for a lot of DLC and for $30, it might be worth giving it a shot.

What's wrong with Andromeda for you? I was planning on playing it soon, and from what I've heard the latest parches fixed most of the technical stuff, and even improved the writing if I recall correctly, so I thought it was ok now

now that capcom got dragon's dogma ps4 out of the way, they gonna announce that okami hd port soon right

Or Viewtiful Joe. It's been eleven years since any Viewtiful Joe game got any release or port on any platform in any region.

Thanks. Cause there are some games that I can't really get an stable 60fps at the moment, and was thinking about locking it at 45 fps.

Also, I don't know how v-sync works exactly. In this case, since 45 is not a standard frame-rate for a 60hz monitor, would there be tearing? Would be necessary to turn v-sync on?

I'm not actually sure, since I'm the kind of crazy person that has to have V-sync on always, because I absolutely hate tearing.

I think you would still get tearing without V-sync @ 45fps, but I'm not completely sure. Give it a shot without, if it tears, put it back on.

Yup, I will run some tests! Thanks by the way! =)

I hear Jawmuncher paid Shack 50 bucks to put a trojan on enhanced Steam so it changes all your wallpapers to Regina wallpapers, and you cant change them back even with a drive wipe.

Truly the most heinous of actions.

If I did play Disagea I probably would use the PC versions, so I could use cheat engine and negate the grind when needed.

I would like to point out that Enhanced Steam is still open source, you can even compile the latest version (or dev version if you're feeling brave) yourself and run it that way.

I believe AVG operates under a report model meaning they don't actually scan the extension in question before reporting it as "dangerous" but instead rely on users saying it's dangerous. The one star rating is probably the result of a low number of Enhanced Steam users using (and reporting back to) AVG.

If AVG's ratings are anything like Google's reviews, they'll be filled with people who either don't comprehend what it actually does, or don't understand how extensions work in general.

Steam's Discovery Queue actually showed me a neat game for once.

Become the leader of a medieval thieve's guild in Killers and Thieves from the co-creator of the Banner Saga series. Train a team, steal loot and master heists throughout a sprawling city to take your revenge.
Release post about it:
Alex Thomas, co-founder of Stoic and co-creator of the Banner Saga, has just released his first solo project Killers and Thieves with the help of Stoic. This is a different kind of game from their signature viking epic but shares a lot of its DNA.

Killers and Thieves puts players into the role of the guildmaster, the shadowy figure lying at the heart of a medieval thieves’ guild. Recruit street rats, train them up into highly-skilled burglars and cutthroats, and then set them loose in a vast, living city. It’s available now!

The heart of the game is the heist, featuring tactical real-time action as you control your crew as they break into buildings, dodge guard patrols, snatch everything valuable and then vanish into the shadows. At least, that’s the idea; all too often, emergent gameplay factors will turn your carefully laid plans into a blood-soaked mess.
giphy.gif

The world reacts to how you play, and while you are patching up the wounded and selling your ill-gotten goods on the black market, guard patrols will shift and challenge levels will change. You can adapt as well, staking out the wealthiest and least guarded parts of the city, picking your own targets, and the open-ended experience is tied together by a compelling story of betrayal and revenge.

Alex’s gorgeous art has drawn inspiration from paintings and prints from the Middle Ages and early Renaissance, giving it a warm, hand-made feel. Don’t be fooled, though: this game is tough. Keeping the books balanced won’t be easy, and professional criminals are unforgiving when they don’t get paid.

Killers and Thieves is available from Steam now. No early access and no beta period; just a complete game ready to play right now.

It sounds awesome, kinda like This War of Mine fused with XCOM, and the thieves guild gameplay one would have wanted from an Elder Scrolls game. My interest is 100% piqued.

It just released today (USD$19.99 plus launch discount of 10%, I think), but if anyone has any impressions I'll be glad to hear them.

What was the game from the Usurper dev again?

Just started playing Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes this morning. I won it from a raffle back in 2015 (thanks Tizoc!) and had heard really good things about it from the (sadly now inactive) NooBTooB podcast (here's the episode where they talk about it). I only got to play about 30 mins of it but it's definitely a fun game so far. I've never played anything like it.

Unfortunately characters and writing mainly, the reasons why I enjoyed the previous three Mass Effect games. The technical issues were never game breaking for me, although I can't say the occasional terrible face animation helped the game much. And obviously the game is filled with a ton of meaningless side "quests"/activities but I mainly ignored them once I learned how many of them there were and how little they mattered. For reference I did everything in previous Mass Effect games and while some of the quests in those games were the same crap as in Andromeda, it's the sheer amount that killed my interest in doing them in Andromeda.

Also the music was mostly forgettable, the last nail in the coffin. And some of the voice acting wasn't great, not helped by the dialogue. I also didn't like the open world progress/gating system. Also the menus are quite bad on PC, the quest log is really annoying to use and crafting is another unnecessary feature like it is in many games these days. But still, good characters/writing could have saved it all.

Even with all that negativity I'll say this: if you still enjoy modern open world games filled with tens of hours of stuff to do and things to click, Andromeda is one of those set in a Mass Effect galaxy. Not the galaxy we explored in the previous three games but a new one.

Still upset there's no sequel

Not sure what exactly tssi is but it looks outstanding. On my wishlist it goes.

Was hoping for better additions to the BTA tier, but oh well. Already own this one; the grappling hook mechanics are good, but I found it way too hard even with reasonably generous checkpoints. YMMV, though!

Can't wait for Disgaea 5. But I've never played 3 or 4.... Will I need to have played them to understand anything. I've always felt like each Disgaea was practically their own standalone game hiding from how 1 and 2 played out.

Nah, you're fine. None of them are related except for the first one and Disgaea D2.
