I was on the bus with my little niece on Saturday, and she was going nuts over every sign and poster she saw for the film. Was pretty sweet.

I'm frustrated that Injustice 2 isn't on PC atm, as that's a fantastic game. People complain about SFV lacking an arcade mode, but Injustice 2 is on a completely different level when it comes to a wealth of single player content. Then we've got Tekken and Rev 2 coming out soon, it's a really good time for fighting games.

To be fair just about EVERY fighting game one could get on Steam has the traditional arcade mode, and a few have an extra or so SP modes that aren't survival mode.
Mainly comes down to if you enjoy the combat system enough though :X

Also glad to hear Wondy's movie is good will def. watch it now BUT I am still hesitant about JL, and will wait for impressions of it. No amount of jshack hyping Momoa's performance as Aquaman in the movie could convince me otherwise.
Then again it's Aquaman, I might just yolo and watch it :V

I always just knew them as "classic RPGs". Blobber just sounds weird; I get the rationale, since I've played Grimrock, but still

How good/bad is the procedural generation?

There's no real definition of what a classic RPG truly is apart from being an adaptation of the old text adventures from the late 70s and early 80s.
The only big difference between these type of games, blobbers, and the more common isometric RPGs is the camera and the technical limitations that arise from it. In an isometric/aerial view each character can occupy a different grid spot which is something not possible in first-person, so the player party and every enemy group is condensed into one "blob" that only occupies a single grid spot. The rest is more or less the same, with a little differentiation in the play style - FPRPGs tended to be a lot more combat focused than their isometric brothers.
In the end, the isometric RPGs "won" simply because they allowed a lot more detailed worlds, story and tactical gameplay. For instance, it was impossible to do AoE spells from a FP perspective.

Check Northgard
Not a clone but it's the most similar game I can think of

This looks lovely, thanks. I don't buy Early Access games but I'll be following this one's development closely.

Classic RPGs are first person dungeon crawlers on a grid
cRPGs are isometric a la Baldurs Gate
And text adventures are text adventures

That's how I've always understood it. Is those not like the generally understood categories? I assumed it was. Or is that more of a modern thing versus what people grew up with (ie "blobbers")

Finished Lightning Returns yesterday (with the help of a trainer so I can teleport without using those EP) and that took me around 25 hours. I think without the trainer which gave me unlimited EP that would still be around 15 hours more.

The game was... low budget, the story was more like a jerkoff of Lightning by Toriyama and the ending was ridiculous.

I mean seriously? The world is reborn and now Lightning is in France visiting someone.

Story/World: XIII >> XIII-2 >>> Lightning Returns
Gameplay: Lightning Returns >= XIII-2 > XIII

I would agree, but LR is doing so much wrong. There is (to me) literally no memorable place. FF13 and 13-2 had some great stuff on Pulse. Returning to Oerba in 13-2 was a great experience.

LR feels like someone just opened a map editor and designed the maps in 1 day. It really feels so low budget.

E3 is near, and I expect to see at least a Shenmue Collection Remastered announcement (it would be great if Sega claims "available now on PS4 and PC", it would sell so much giving hype toward Shenmue 3, which won't be on E3 by the way), a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake (why not, I still can't believe Konami did nothing for the 30th anniversary of the franchise, and they have those Fox Engine cutscenes from the pachinko, so a good amount of the job is already done, considering how many cutscenes there were in MGS3), something new regarding Survive, maybe a re-reveal considering how boring the gameplay was, CDPR showing Cyberpunk 2077...that's all.

I don't know why I bought Blood & Bacon, it's so cheap, but it looks shit on the screens, but it has good rating, but it looks so shit, I got mixed feelings about it.

At least it has cards...that wil sell for 0,001 nok each.

I love the look of Tokyo 42, but the UI and perspective are so tiny that even if it runs on the GPD WIN, it will likely be completely unplayable. :/

Sooo... I take it Steam says Vanquish is not a 'real' game? Lol.
Is that because of that new rule?

Edit: Setsuna was... strange. I won it by Tizoc here, but they charge 40$ for a game thats essentially like a 12-15 hour JRPG.

Don't think so:

I think games from more prominent developers/publishers are whitelisted prior to release. I got a drop in Rime in the time it took me to make the PC performance thread.

I'd say they just haven't been approved yet.

I'd drop $40 for a quality 12-15 hour RPG. I wanted to support the dev with Setsuna, but it leaves so much to be desired. I commend them for their Steam support at least.

So, yesterday I restarted my PC, and suddenly BDO was uninstalled. But it wasn't, Steam just doesn't show it as installed. I can go to the common folder and launch the game there and it will even show me as playing on Steam. How do I fix this? (Without redownloading)

I'd chalk Intel's enduring confidence down to it having the edge in IPC performance and Ryzen's poor overclockability.

Yeah, that's solid price, could've been worse. At least 6 core one is really affordable.

It's not a price that should be celebrated, though: USD$389 puts the CPU between its Haswell-E and Broadwell-E counterparts. Whoop-de-do.

Steam should detect the existing data when you initiate the install process.

Validate it

edit: Read your post again, what happens if you double click on the game in the library

I've never heard the term blobbers before.

I've always considered classic series like Wizardry or the more recent Legend of Grimrock to be a sub-genre known as first-person dungeon crawlers.

Still plugging away at Risen 3, it gets much better as the game progresses because melee combat is horrible and that is all you have for the first 7 or so hours. About 20 hours in and I am really enjoying it. Aside from the obvious eurojank and how annoying jumping/climbing are due to the jank it is a solid game. Slowly taking my time and I still have 3 islands to visit! (out of 6 or 7). Also you can turn into a parrot and a monkey which is awesome.

Yeah, not in that way. What I would've loved to see was affordable 8 core, but it's still quite high priced.

Yeah, I was hoping the release of Ryzen would see 8c/16t replace 6c/12t as the entry point of Intel's enthusiast line, but alas, no such luck.

I downloaded Dynasty Feud and its a ton of fun. Smash-esque bralwer with a lot of charm, just wish there were more people playing it. If anyone else buys or has it, let me know! I'd love to play with somebody.

You're overthinking it. cRPG refers to those type of RPGs that were popular in the 80's and, most of the, 90's. The 'c' stands for both computer and classic because those games were only available on PC and set the foundation of what a video game RPG is and how it was played.
As for the text adventure bit, it's true they are a different type of game but what I said was that RPGs evolved from them. Instead of predetermined outcomes you have dice rolls affected by skills, races, traits, etc, but the core principle is the same: tell the story of your character through his/hers/its actions.

I've never heard the term blobbers before.

I've always considered classic series like Wizardry or the more recent Legend of Grimrock to be a sub-genre known as first-person dungeon crawlers.

It's funny that what now is a sub-genre of RPGs (dungeon crawlers) was the first type of games, and only for a very long time, that genre had.

Ha ha, borderline

yeah im being generous. Im talking about the one with the banner with the big ass (no pun intended) panty shot right in the frame. There are panty shots, and then there are those panty shots.

I'm no prude but I'm not gonna lie, I kinda look down on Steam for that shit being in the main page.
