Steam Summer Sale 2017 |OT| The Weather's Hot and the Deals are Not

A couple questions for y'all:

How do people feel about the Neptunia games? Are there some decent RPG mechanics in there or is it all about creepy fanservice? Disgaea has become my favorite series due to the deep leveling mechanics so I can deal with a little of that stuff. I just want there to be a decent game underneath.

I've only played the first one but after completing that one, I'm a fan. Based on the first one, there's definitely IIRC a few fanservicey scenes but outside of that, it's mostly a not so serious story and pretty fun to play through, especially with references to tons of gaming media stuff. Plus the characters and their voice actors add a bit of worth to the game. Although there were times where I wondered about how the multiverse aspect is fitted into this game, its not explained.

Combat is quick and fast and IIRC can be button mashy, not much depth aside from positioning your strikes. The worst aspect of the first one, not sure if they fixed for the rest, is that they would have double boss battles, as in after the first guy's down they send you to the next one, sometimes with the damage from the last one left unhealed.

So yeah, if you enjoy cheeky game references here and there and quick combat, you should be able to enjoy this game.

Recommend me a game so i can test bench my new PC.

I already own Doom, so that is out of the way.

This is with a GTX 1080 and Ryzen 1700X.

Yeah I meant Ryse son of Rome. It's the longest short game I've ever played. I doubt I'll ever finish it; after killing that fat guy with a shield for the 20th time I kind of see infinite space and time.

stuff about bioshock infinite
I wasn't actually looking for criticism of the game, though I appreciate your summary. Just meditating on the divisiveness and how our opinions can seem like hyperbole to the opposite party.

I can't say I agree with any of your points, especially the gameplay. I played the game almost like Quake, I was running around on the shyhooks, throwing down vigors and becoming a whirlwind of death. That game plays well with mobility, almost every time I found the gameplay irritating I just wasn't moving around enough. The arenas are large for good reason, the magic system uses any room to breathe, and resources are everywhere to enable this. That's just me though, I understand and respect that others were looking for something different.

I'm on mobile so I'm not really capable of typing out a repartee in terms of the story, to source the actual script or videos on YouTube. But as a narritive I felt it hung together nicely enough and even as someone who reads time travel books often enough I found the plot points coherent thematically and narritively. I actually liked Infinite's plot more than Burial at Sea, which felt overambitious for its smaller canvas and contained a lot of explicit things that Infinite left implicit.

Not much of a sale for me, this time around. I ended up getting Divine Divinity for 0.5€ on Steam (card money) and the new DLC for Darkest Dungeons on Humble. The latter was just 10% off thanks to Humble Monthly, but I've been wanting to get around to playing that game for a long time. I guess I am just past the point where I grab games left and right during big Steam sales.

Can you add a certain amount from PayPal to purchase a certain game? say I have $10 in my wallet, is there an option to add just $25 in order to purchase a Resident Evil 7?

I'm confused why the Fallout 4 season pass is $30 but a package with a bunch of Fallout games, including 4 and the season pass is also $30? Shouldn't the pass be significantly less?

So far I've got:
Barracuda dlc for Rocksmith
Dying Light
DOOM
Dead Cells

Add the game to your cart, check out, check the box to use steam wallet and charge the rest via PayPal.

You don't need to manually add wallet first

So can anyone sell me on the Mount and Blade series, I've heard good things about it.

M&B: Warband has the best melee combat system ever derived. I should hope that is enough to do it.

But if not, it is also an expansive, open RPG where you pursue whatever goals you like, conquering cities and fielding huge armies. It's pretty janky, but unlike anything else out there. It also has some fabulous mods--check out the workshop or the TaleWorlds forums.

Thanks! I feel like I should know this by the insane amount of games I have on Steam tho ;p

It's not on Steam but Gears of War 4 is 25 bucks on cdkeys.com and the graphics are out of this world. It also has TONS of options to tweak and a built in benchmark tool. Really excellent PC version. The game itself is a dumb ass cover shooter but it's kinda fun enough to play through just to enjoy the visuals.

The original Bioshock already was, Infinite even more so, and to its benefit actually. If you're not going to go full immersive sim at least let it be fun to play and not a simplified hybrid with horrible gunplay.
In what ways is Bioshock Infinite trying to be an immersive sim or even an immersive sim lite? It has none of the hallmarks of that subgenre; it's an FPS with a narrative focus and RPG elements.

Right? I'm kinda playing it now and it's a slog. Looks amazing and the writing itself isn't even atrocious, but it's literally just the SAME fucking thing every fight. X, Y, X, Y, X, Y..... A.... R2.... totally risk free finishing move. Feels like I've been playing dozens of hours.

I thought Infinite was alright but Burial at Sea has some pretty awesome moments
like the dance scene
that are more memorable than some of the stuff in main game.

It's kinda crazy really for a dlc to do that.

Get the floris mod if you do get it. But to sell you on it: You start the game with a created character with a backstory of your choosing, starting in the location of your choosing. From there you can do whatever the fuck you want in the sandbox. You can go around tormenting farmers as a bandit. You can become a trader, going from city to city, buying and selling for profit. You can be a defender of the people against bandits, do quests for the locals, get in good with various cities and townships so they eventually like you enough for you to lead a revolt against the warring countries, making your own faction.

You can suck up to the nobility of whatever country you want, and become their vassal, taking ownership of a fief that they bestow upon you, and then betray taking the country for your own. You can help an exile with rights of rulership over one of the game's factions take back their country. You can be a mercenary for the powers that be. You can marry into nobility.

You can do whatever the fuck you want while leveling up your character and choosing how you want to specialize them. Not to mention that every unit you recruit from farmer to levy has their own upgrade paths so you can make them an archer, spearman, swordsman, horeman, horse archer, etc. Not to mention you can recruit followers that level up the same way you do.

Now, this isn't even to talk about how good the combat is. Cause it's fucking great. Though, Mount and Blade 2 should come out this year. Or I hope so. It will. Yep. Yes. Yup.

That's why I found the original poster's complaint odd, about modernizing the subgenre for mainstream appeal, when it isn't even trying to be a part of that subgenre in the first place.
Sorry, I reread what you were saying earlier and my reply to you and I have no idea what the hell I understood or tried to answer back ;P I do agree with your point.

Idling cards while also playing a game makes it so slow.
Been idling for 2 days.

For now, damage is just one game I've had on my wishlist for a while now.

Nothing incredible but still a pretty fun kill 'tons of shit' game.
Did the campaigns and the difficulty curve is pretty OK with the game introducing different enemies slowly enough to understand them but quickly enough that it stays interesting.

Not sure how much I'll unlock... maybe all of it.

If you need more convincing:
It's a game with a petite girl wearing a power suit holding a giant hammer that wears glasses.

Because Ikaruga is not a dualstick shooter and as such doesn't have the type of aiming that's being discussed.

Ah of course, my mistake.

I would say though for twin sticks, I've had quite a lot of fun and success using the mouse region functionality as opposed to the analogue stick emulation. It feel far more responsive and reliable but undoubtedly requires some getting used to (as most SC usage does). This of course assumes there is mouse support, otherwise your pretty much stuck with analogue emulation or making various zones if possible

i remember mount&blade warband being free somewhere, either steam key of gog version, is it still available somewhere? i think i've missed it

Steam hit 14million concurrent users today. Short of the record by like 25k iirc. Will probably blow past it next weekend.

Just picked this up because of you! It even runs fine on my shitty computer, I was ready to do a refund if it didn't, but this is neat so far!

How required is DLC for R6: Siege? Can you just buy the base game, or do you basically need to get all of the content?

To New Xanadu Next players:

1) If you run into what feels like framepacing/performance/stuttering issues, download/extract this DX8 wrapper and place it in the game folder - https://github.com/ThirteenAG/d3d8-wrapper/releases/tag/1.5 - make sure Direct3D8DisableMaximizedWindowedModeShim is set to 1 in the ini file. That's it.

2) If you're playing with a controller, I do recommend trying Steam's controller support and setting the Right Stick to Mouse. It makes inventory management much easier. I do have a public config up for DS4s, it should translate over to any dual analog controller.

I did this and now when I run the game it keeps getting stuck as it tries to run the game; it keeps opening the 'preparing to run XN' message box then shuts down and repeats the process.

Should I be putting the FOLDER dxd8 or just the files into the directory?
