Stellaris |OT| Imperium Universalis

Game is unplayable for me right now. Stuttering every tick, on every speed. Seems like it's fairly common according to the Steam forums. Wait for a patch I guess...I made my races at least, I'm going to bed.

God damn, why does everything take so long in this game?

I should try unpausing more often .. I'm really not used to real-time 4X games. >_>

Game is playing very smooth for me right now. Sorry dude. :(

This is such a crazy feeling. It has that Paradox-game feel, but in space.

And I can tell you this will consume many hours this week and I am going to lose a lot of sleep.

It sucks but its 3AM, I gotta go to work in 5 hours, so it's probably for the best.

The devs are aware, they have a fix, they're putting it through testing. By the time I finish work today I'm sure they'll have a patch out and I'll be able to go for broke tonight.

Dudes, I'm just at the launch screen and the music has already got me thinking of a combination of Tron Legacy and Intersellar. So hyped.

Definitely getting an Interstellar vibe as well!

Ha yes.

Welcome to Paradox games. Where you look at the top right and think "shit, I've been waiting for 5 minutes.."

Okay, I found the Soundtrack and ringtone in my Steamfolder.
That ringtone is legit, I will be using that for a long time. I will be listening to the OST on my way to and from work this week.

Man I should really just start the game and try it out, but the music is just too good.

Yeah, I'm getting the stuttering if I go anywhere above min speed. That being said, it's not unplayable, just really annoying. At first I thought it was the fact that the game is set to 23 hz by default, but changing it to 59 didn't help.

I really miss some -2 negative traits when creating a race. So easy to end with 1 trait left and 0 points.

I guess you're right, technically it's not unplayable, but I surveyed 3 planets and had had enough of it. All good, the fix is on the way.

Screw you all who can play today. I'm working away from home till Thursday :-(.

Is there a early game tech to increase the wormhole generator range? I think I got pretty bad starting location as there is only one other system in range.

The wormholes can jump as far as the wide dotted circle line, the small circle around your planet is your sensor range.

The only way I can imagine there is only one system inside that huge ass circle is if you're playing on a galaxy with like 20 systems.

Silly question, but if I'm not currently using my military fleet, should I disband them?

Really enjoying this game

EDIT: Have communicated with my first civilization :D

Getting attacked in nearly ever system I try and survey :(

I have found an Early Space Age civilization on a planet and that's it so far. I seem to be pretty alone right now. Can't talk to them- have an Observation Post on them.

Trying to decide whether I want to kind of foster the little bros and their primitive space station... or just wipe them out because their planet is hospitable for my guys.

Decisions decisions.

EDIT: I am already attached my little cluster of star systems here. Can't wait to see what other games give me.

You can send them out to scout unviewed systems to see if there are monsters for your civilian ships to avoid or get info about habitable planets. Other than that probably best to keep them in orbit around your base as you'll need to build out a small fleet pretty early on to beat back space monsters and get to those systems.

Attacked, or just running into "hostile" fleets that cause your science ships to run away? Because if it is the latter, then there's a good chance that they are not actually hostile. Try doing the special research projects for those.

Deep questions man. I say wipe them out

Have you tried setting it to "Windowed (fullscreen)"? That might help.

I went in random because I wanted to be surprised, my first race is a fungoid bunch who are pretty nice but also slavers for the needs of the many out does the needs of the few.

For gamers with old PCs; it runs on my X3 II Phenom with a GTX 260 without issues. I'll try on my Surface 3 (not pro) but I don't expect to run it on this device though.

It won't run on the Surface 3, I see the app on the tray but can't click on it. No matters, it was wishful thinking. I'm quite happily surprised that I don't need to change my PC just yet, so I'll wait a bit more for GFX cards to go down for VR.

See you in space !

First thing I did. It's all good, I don't mind a bit of stutter so long as it gets fixed eventually.

Happy to announce that we've beat PDX and @Cities_PDX record of most concurrent players - over 57K people playing @StellarisGame

Game really seems like it could be the entry drug multiple reviews have referred to it as.

If I can't build something on a colony because it requires planetary administration, is that because a governor is ruling?

AFAIK you need planetary administration for some buildings and you can only build the pa if your colony has reached size 5. If can't build anything there should be another issue.

As above, Planetary Administration is a upgrade for your default colony ship as your capital.

You need 5 pop before you can upgrade to Planetary Administration, but once done, it adds +1 resources to the 4 tiles adjacent to your city.

Wow, I love that you can zoom all the way onto planets and see the atomsphere shifting as the planet rotates. I wasn't expecting that level of little details

Wow, I'm having a terrible start. 25 years in and I still haven't found another desert planet. Lots of continental and arrid planets and just about anything else though... Stuff like this can really screw you over

So the scientist on my science ship leveled up to level 2 and got his first new trait: Arrested Development (-100% Leader Experience Gain). How fucked am I? Does this mean he will not level up any further at all? Should I immediately recruit a new scientist to replace him?

soundtrack is really great, a nice mix of vangelis' blade runner and zimmer's interstellar tunes

Just downloaded it and started playing human race that I edited. Decided to go w/ ironman b/c that's the only way to do it. Game feels real good.

Started over even though I kanda hate starting over just due to having a bad start in a game and now I have a Gaia world and two desert worlds right inside my starting terretory.
What the hell.

It's all randomised but you might find you've got squat else near you!

I am still creating my own empire. Busy coming up with names which I'm not the best at, right now I've got "Starborn's Democratic Territories", since I am directly democratic and also will consider all races within my empire equal as one - all born from the same stars of the galaxy.
