Between being sci-fi and more accessible according to the devs, I think it'll do betterEuropa Universalis IV sold about a million copies and Crusader Kings 2 sold about 1.2 million.
What do you guys think, will this game do better?
PErsonally, I wouldn't be suprised if it hit Civ V levels of success. But I could be dreaming![]()

Ok, probably am. Maybe half that? (Civ V has sols over 8 million copies in Steam).
Even Cities Skylines is only at 2 million despite hitting the $10 price point, Stellaris isn't hitting 8 or 4 million.
It'll have legs but at the end of the day it's still grand strategy, one of the nichest genres. It being sci fi only balances out Europa's long, established audience.
Yep. If the game is good it'll sell well, maybe even better than Paradox's non Cities Skylines games, but it's not going to sell like a Civ game.
£42 for Nova edition.

Going to have to shop around a bit![]()
Our plan is for Stellaris to become the next EUIV, with the same kind of life cycle and long tail of updates and expansions, and the possibilities are endless
Am I missing something about the nova edition? One new race and a soundtrack does seem worth 10 bucks to me

So.... What's up with some people having two hosts of embers plus two summons when I invade?
I'm in for NOVA pre-order, most likely through GMG.
If you've got the patience, it might be worth waiting to pre-order. GMG is famous for upping the discount ante days before release. If nothing comes about, that 20% coupon code will still work.

LOL.
Well I guess Paradox is the Dark Souls of the strat genre.
They used the dried finger.
EDIT: Wait... lol
I reckon it's going to be the best selling PDS title to date. A demo would obviously do wonders in showcasing their most "accessible" game.
CK2 and EUIV became much more accessible games, getting new people into the genre, yet still retaining the engaging and depth of a grand strategy.
Have the developers commented on UI/font scaling? I assume they still aren't doing it but I haven't seen any screens over 1080p so I don't know for sure.
Oh man, I forgot about how shitty that is in CK2 with my 1440p monitor. Really hoping that Stellaris handles this better but it wouldn't be the end of the world if it weren't the case.
I'm in for the Nova edition! Going to pre-order directly from Paradox so hopefully they get more money that way.
Oh crap yes, 1440 is tough on the eyes in ck2.
Exclusive alien race. DX
Paradox pls
Hopefully cosmetic and there's nothing gameplay-wise exclusive to it.
The lack of UI scaling has kept me from playing basically any of their grand strategy games over the last several years.
I *really really really* want Stellaris though.

Got my avvy
