Steph Curry Supernova

I'm a Knicks fan, I'm going to hate on most great players in the league because my seasons are generally filled with misery. Curry's showboating just makes it easier for me to root against him.

It's really only fun to rag on Curry because of the unanimous MVP thing. It wasn't his fault but it was obviously a mistake. If he was unanimously the best player in the NBA, he wouldn't be playing like shit the past few games. Jordan was a much better overall player and even he never got a unanimous award. Then, add in all the bandwagoners that were saying 2 weeks ago that GS will sweep all the way to the finals since Curry can't miss and now it's easy to see why they are catching shit.

Nobody in their right mind is going to try and argue that Curry is as good as Jordan was. Doesn't change the fact that Curry was the easy pick for league MVP for the second year in a row. People get too hung up on the unanimous thing. All it means is that, in the 2015-16 season, Curry was the obvious choice relative to the competition. Doesn't mean they thought he was better than Jordan, just because Jordan was not a unanimous pick relative to his competition in any given year in the 90's.

Votes also weren't public in Jordan's day like they are now. So the public shame from a troll vote may discourage modern writers from doing that sort of thing. Which is a good thing! Just because something was wrong in the past doesn't mean it needs to keep being wrong.

Who the hell would describe the Thunder as Westbrook's team if you asked them? It's Durant's team first and foremost.

I'm an ardent Thunder fan living in OKC. As of 2013, what you say is correct. But now, it's much more muddled. It's both guy's team. Russel's the heart of this team. Kevin's the soul.

People are making too much of the whole Westbrook vs. Curry thing in this series. All 5 guys on the floor for OKC are defending Curry. Thompson is primarily defending Westbrook, with plenty of help. If he drops another 30/10/10 game tonight and OKC closes out the series, I'll be a happy camper and all, but it doesn't change the fact that Curry was the best player in the league this year and deserved the MVP award. Russell doesn't get to be the honorary MVP just because he outplays the MVP in a series where they really don't even go head to head that much. That's not how it works.

There's not much that's humble about Steph's showboating.

This has the potential to be one of the biggest Crying MJ nights of all time.

right?

just because steph looks happy go lucky, doesn't mean he isn't a showboating basketball player.

and I can't wait for KD to finish off the warriors and especially Draymond green's punk behind.

I'm happy I'm not only one who can't stand Draymond Green.

I have nothing against Curry. But I cannot deal with Green and he is the reason I'm rooting against the Warriors.

Warriors are 7.5 point favorites for game 5 according to the betting lines. If they win this game, all the pressure is on the Thunder.

I don't think you thought this through lol.

They're going back to OKC if they win tonight and the pressure is all on the Warriors since they're 73-9.

You don't think there's any pressure on the Thunder to win game 6, their only home game, after being up 3-1? Cool.

OKC's been an underdog in 10 straight games this postseason. They've won 7 of them.

Sounds like you can make some money then.

The pressure to close out at home or face a game 7 while being blasted for choking away their series lead? I don't know, guess that's a subjective thing.

I'd still say the pressure is on the Warriors, especially based on how everyone was talking about this being the greatest season in NBA history.

Are we really measuring pressure levels? Y'all can't be telling both teams don't feel the weight of the world on their shoulders right now for different reasons.

Well there is variations. Everyone is feeling pressure, but I still think most of the pressure in on the Warriors because:

They face an elimination game and need to win 3 straight against a team that matched up very well against them.

They had a historical season run that would be made moot if they lose.

Also, it's easy to say "Jordan should have won an unanimous MVP" without pointing at a specific year. In the 15-16 season, there was no one in the league who was even close to Curry in the regular season. Him being unanimous doesn't mean he had the best season ever, it just means it was clear to everyone who votes that he was the best player in the league that year. And it was.

Point to a year when Jordan should have won unanimously. We can look to see who else was great and if a case could have been made for someone else. It is possible that different people had different opinions on who was best.

If it goes to game 6 they will both be feeling a lot of pressure.

Arguing over who will feel more is silly and meaningless.

It is a huge game for both teams and for different reasons.

It will still be the record if they don't win the championship. People will still try and best it.

The regular season and playoffs are two different beasts.

Yeah but no one cares about what you did in the regular season if you shit the bed in the playoffs. As a Pats fan I know a lot about this.

Do people care what you did in the regular season when you win the championship?

It seems like people try to invalidate the regular season at every chance they get.

Oh, boo-hoo. You and your 5 rings...

I mean, yeah- people are always waiting to shit on the champs when/if they fall down. I don't care about any of that, myself. In the last 12 months, GS has brought home a championship, two MVP awards and recorded the best regular season of all time. Nobody can take that away from them. I'm not going to shit on them if they lose this series. I think it would be mighty kind of them to stop being so damn selfish and spread the wealth a little. Preferably with the Thunder.

They are, but if they lose they will be laughingstock.

Only to haters waiting to pounce on what they've accomplished. They're going to pile on eventually, anyways. It happens with Lebron. Happened with Kobe. It's actually a sign of greatness to get to be in that position in the first place.

Seems like people forget this every couple pages or so, so I'll go ahead and leave this here:

The record will still be impressive and they should get all the credit in the world for it, but not winning a championship takes them out of the "best team of all time" conversation.

It will be cute record that will be forever asterisked.

Best regular season record, but no chip. :(

I guess haters find anything to latch onto after GSW destroyed everyone in the league. Will give them a little peace of mind before GSW do it all over again next season.

Can you even imagine how much beating GSW did on the NBA? Because I can't. It's too much. Unthinkable.

They can be The Best Regular Season Team Ever just like Peyton Manning is The Best Regular Season Quarterback Ever.

There are precisely 0 people outside of New England fans that give a crap about the Patriots perfect 07 season because they lost the Super Bowl. There are precisely 0 people outside of Seattle fans that give a crap about the Mariners 116-win season because the Yankees crushed them in the ALCS.

If the Warriors lose this series this team will suffer a similar fate.

get outta here. that record means plenty. they also won a championship last year. the pats situation is apples and oranges.

In what way is it apples and oranges? They were two teams that accomplished just about as much as you can do in the regular season and shat the bed in the playoffs. The record will just serve as a reminder of their failure in the playoffs. That of course assumes that the Warriors don't have a comeback.

Do people care even after you win it? GSW chipped last season and everyone seems to be ignoring that.

Nothing can stop what the haters want to think.

The more interesting thing that can come from this series is the fact KD and Russ might stick it out with posoble shorter term contract.

Part of me thinks they are rethinking it a lot right now

I find both those records to be impressive.

I don't live in Seattle or New England.
