Stock-Age: Stocks, Options and Dividends oh my!

This has been a week of vindication for some of my long term bets on which I fucked up my entry price/timeline.

Apple is printing again and my leaps which previously were in the red for over half a year are back to the positive and with a lot of strength. I am probably going to open more leaps on Apple soon since it seems my current leaps will miss the AR glasses/EV launch window, but just the rumors as the release approaches will double my current investment.

My POT etf is hurting bad right now, time to lower my dollar cost average. I plan to hold until legalization, either this will be an epic win for me in the end or I'm setting a lot of money on fire.

I actually cut my cannabis play today (OGI).

I'd been scaling out for the last few months on the random pops but today it just fell through support and it looks like it's going back to the 1's.

Used that money as collateral to sell puts on Nvidia so I'm back to "even" immediately provided Nvidia doesn't tank hard in the next month or so.

My rule of thumb is if I can find an opportunity elsewhere then I'll sell something at a loss and this was one of those moments when I saw the IV still remained high on nvidia even after earnings.

Good advice. I've done that recently and never looked back.

I think it was likey the combo of insider unlock to dump and on a broader market selloff day. Not worried at all, added to my position at 187

I bought a bit more of Cloudflare (NET) @ 189. I had an east coast meeting at 6:30 PST so I was there for market open :messenger_smirking:

I also bought one more share of Atlassian (TEAM) cuz fucking JIRA is everywhere, including this new public company I started working for.

I think JPow's confirmation yesterday probably also had something to do with the overall market dip.

It looks finished from a technical perspective. Below all major levels of support dating back the last 4 years and well below all moving averages.

It's going to take a hell of a piece of news to change the trend now.
I know right. I'll be surprised if it recovers just a smidge after holiday season to break even.

How much do you guys believe? I see people making hype yolo posts about a particular stock, and then they say they have a couple of shares.

Not saying you're doing that, but I've seen it all over the stock subreddits.
It depends on what the investment means to people. For example, my girlfriend keeps a big cash position and she believes in Ethereum, but at most she has only invested a few hundred dollars on it.

My problem with crypto is that it's so rapidly changing and evolving with little to no regulation that it's too hard to predict winners.

There are so many coins with potential, and so many coins which are scams, it's really hard to keep up let alone figure out who is going to 'lead'.

Etherium was my horse from 50 ish
to 240$ and I sold out - small amount of my capital overall. My biggest fear is that the US gov / federal reserve comes out with it's own crypto currency and basically forces the economy onto it... the consequences of that would devastate the crypto markets overnight. It's all fine and well the community 'experts' say it will never happen, but reality is, they don't know for sure... and the government is in charge at the end of the day.

Another problem I see with crypto is that new coins come out every day it seems. That just dilutes the pool and the value of everything goes down. So far only the early coins are worth anything.

I think close to 20% of my portfolio is crypto. I've just been holding ETH and have a bit invested in other smart contract platforms, Solana, AVAX and Kadena. I figure that some smart contract platform will dominate in the future, not Bitcoin, but it is too early to tell which. The ROI has been good for me so far, close to 5x.

Anyone holding AVGO? Was thinking about starting a position in this or NVDA but I've got a decent amount of exposure to NVDA through a few funds already. Would really like to see AVGO come down closer to $500 or at least the 50 day SMA.

If you have any patience you will make money on BABA...
£65k in BABA. Average price $156. Even though growth has slowed, margins and earnings decreased due to higher costs and an increase in investments, they still forecast 20% growth next year. Net cash position, lots of stock holdings in other Chinese tech companies. They also have the cloud computing division that should become very profitable in future years.

I reckon I can get my average down into the $140s and I plan to hold for 10 years hopefully then retire. God bless negative sentiment and fear!

Just realised how old this thread is. I went back to 2008 out of curiosity. Saw someone say Nintendo was a "screaming buy" at $47 😬 yikes. Someone might be looking at my BABA post in 10 years and think "well, this guy really fucked up" 🤣

Looks like COVID is back on the menu boys.

Hold on to your butts.

Also DIDI is looking like it will get delisted from the US market.

My plan is to buy while there is fear and see my stacks grow once it turns into a nothingburger.

What a shitty Nov for me. But this time, I have some money on the sidelines. So if the markets crater like covid #1, I'm prepared to bottom fish stocks down 40%.

Had Pfizer stock last year around November 2020. It did nothing when I got in for $35 as covid vax was being hyped up, so I bailed. In Feb 2021 it was still around that price.

Now it's $53.

Fuck. Bailed too soon.
