Yeah I concede that I probably messed up by filing the dispute. That being said...this seems like something that should had been handled when I originally reported the card stolen and told them about the charge that caused me to report it stolen in the first place. Or after I called them again after the first dispute letter.
Oh well. Hopefully its handled. Thanks everyone for the advice.
Yeah, I hope it gets resolved for you. I've had nothing but amazing experiences with Amex. Sony tried to rip me off with a PSN purchase, I immediately called Amex and had it rectified. It's well worth the annual fee.
Did you loose your Creditcard or did you loose the number ?
What it sounds like is that the chipped card was swiped in person and if you still have the card in your possession they are not going to refund the purchase.
Thieves can create a magnetic strip that mimics your number but they can't duplicate the chip. so the important points to find out from AMEX is
1) was the card used in person
2) was the chip used
If this was an internet purchase I can't understand why they would not refund, amex has taken care of every fraudulent charge I have been hit with, sometimes several within 6 months.
A lot of stores still don't require a chip to be used. So the chip likely is meaningless here. I've had fraud charges refunded after my card has been skimmed somewhere and then someone goes to use it in a physical store. All while the actual card was still in my possession.
$366 at Cedar Point is almost certainly a weekday four-pack of Fast Pass Plus. They're sold from little kiosks around the park, so who knows if they even use proper credit card systems/signatures/whatever at them.
